Introduction
We are team Medified. We went to Sarvodaya for an internship where we explored different
OPDs on 26th may,2025. The different OPDs are Main, Mother and Child, Gastro. The
Basement contains different OPDs like Dental, Dermatology, and ENT etc. And then we have
the Emergency Ward.
Gastroenterology Department
In Gastro, if you have to detect, let's say, cancer or something, then a part of the tissue is
taken, and using the BIOSPY Test, they detect if there is any issue. Then, there is endoscopy,
which uses optical fiber to see inside the alimentary canal. Majorly, people who come here
have gastric ulcers or severe abdominal pain. Many patients are alcoholics, and nurses and
doctors often face problems because patients don't follow proper lifestyle advice, such as
avoiding alcohol. There are approximately 4-5 doctors and 4 nurses. The gastrologist is the
specialist here. The OPD can accommodate 20-30 patients. During endoscopy, patients need
to be nil by mouth, meaning they should not eat anything.
Main OPD
The Main OPD has all types of consultants, including orthopedic specialists. Before visiting
the consultant, your vitals need to be checked, including pulse, blood pressure (BP), and
temperature, so the doctor is informed if your vitals are not stable. The Main OPD classifies
sickness into two types: immediate and non-immediate.
Basement OPDs
The basement contains departments such as Dental, Dermatology, and ENT. Dentists and
dental surgeons handle dental care. Dermatologists specialize in skin conditions. ENT
doctors treat ear, nose, and throat problems. Physicians also work here, providing general
medical care. Approximately 70 to 80 patients visit these departments daily.
Emergency Ward
The Emergency Ward is for patients requiring immediate attention and care. Emergency
codes are used for quick communication: Red indicates critical conditions like accidents,
Yellow is for severe pain such as intense abdominal pain or headache, and Black indicates
that the patient has died. Emergency care is divided into Trauma and Medical categories.
Trauma covers accidental emergencies, and Medical covers severe injuries. In case of fire,
the hospital follows specific procedures handled by the staff, including nurses. The hospital
also uses special codes: Red for fire, Pink for child kidnapping or abuse. The Emergency
Ward has 20-25 beds.
Crash Cards
Crash Cards are sealed boxes containing emergency supplies. When the seal is broken, a
record is made to track usage. They allow nurses and doctors to quickly access essential
items, like injections, without delay during emergencies.
