Affirmative to Negative

Affirmative Sentence কী? যে Sentence দ্বারা হ্াাঁ য াধক ব ৃবি য াঝায়, িাকক
Affirmative Sentence কে।
Negative Sentence কী? যে Sentence দ্বারা না য াধক ব ৃবি য াঝায়, িাকক Negative
Sentence কে।

Affirmative to Negative change এমনভাক করকি হক োকি াকক্র অকথরে যকান


পবর িেন না ঘকে। যেকে বনই Affirmative to Negative change-এর বকছু সাধারণ
বনয়মা ে ীঃ

Rule 1: Affirmative Sentence-এ only/alone থাকলে এবং তা ককান বযাক্তিলক


কবাঝালে এর পররবলতে none but বলে।
Example:
Affirmative: Only God can help us.
Negative: None but God can help us.

Affirmative: Only Turna can do the work.


Negative: None but Turna can do the work.

Affirmative: Only he can play good cricket.


Negative: None but he can play good cricket.

Affirmative: Only the science students can apply for the post.
Negative: None but the science students can apply for the post.

Affirmative: Only they can do the work.


Negative: None but they can do the work.

Rule 2: Only যরি ককান বস্তুলক রনলিেশ কলর এর পররবলতে nothing but বলে।
Example:
Affirmative: I have only a few books.

Negative:Tanima had nothing but a few pencils.


Rule 3: Only যরি বয়ে রনলিেশ কলর বা েংখ্যার কেলে only এর পররবলতে not more
than/not less than বলে।
Example:
Affirmative: Maruf is only fifteen.
Negative: Maruf is not more than fifteen.
Or, Maruf is not less than fifteen.

Affirmative: He is only four.


Negative: He is not more than four.

Affirmative: They have only two cars.


Negative: They have not more than two cars.

Rule 4: Affirmative Sentence-এ must থাকলে এর পররবলতে cannot but/ cannot


help বলে। Cannot but এর পলর verb1 বলে এবং cannot help এর পর verb+ing
বলে।
Example:
Affirmative: We must obey our teachers.
Negative: We cannot help obeying our teachers.

Affirmative: We must help the poor.


Negative: We cannot but help the poor.

Affirmative: You must yield to your fate.


Negative: You cannot but yield to your fate.

Affirmative: We must obey our parents.


Negative: We cannot help obeying our parents.

Affirmative: You must care them.


Negative: You cannot help caring them.

Rule 5: Affirmative Sentence-এ Every থাকলে এর পররবলতে there is no+ every-
এর পলরর শব্দ+ but বলে।
Example:
Affirmative: Every mother loves her child.
Negative: There is no mother but loves her child.

Affirmative: Everybody hates a liar.


Negative: There is no body but hates a liar.

Affirmative: Everyone hates a terrorist.


Negative: There is no one but hates a terrorist.

Affirmative: Everybody fears a lion.


Negative: There is no body but fears a lion.

Rule 6: As soon as রিলয় Affirmative Sentence শুরু হলে এর পররবলতে No


sooner had+ subject+ principal verb-এর past participle form+ বাকী অংশ +
than+ রিতীয় clause বলে।
Example:
Affirmative: As soon as the rain stopped, we started playing.
Negative: No sooner had the rain stopped than we started playing.

Affirmative: As soon as the thief saw the police, he ran away.


Negative: No sooner had the thief seen the police than he ran away.

Affirmative: As soon as he saw the tiger, he jumped over the wall.


Negative: No sooner had he seen the tiger than he jumped over the wall.

Affirmative: As soon as the teacher came, there was silence.


Negative: No Sooner had the teacher come than there was silence.

Rule 7: Affirmative Sentence-টি যরি Superlative degree হয়, তালির negative
করার রনয়ম No other+ Superlative এর পলরর অংশ+ verb+ as+ possessive
form+ as+ subject.
Example:
Affirmative: Riya is the most talkative girl in the class.
Negative: No other girl in the class is as talkative as Riya.

Affirmative: Dhaka is the most polluted country in the world.


Negative: No other country in the world is as polluted as Dhaka.

Affirmative: Nasim is the wisest person in the village.


Negative: No other person in the village is as wise as Nasim.

Rule 8: Affirmative Sentence-টি যরি Comparative degree হয়, তালির negative


করার রনয়ম No other+ than any other/all other এর পলরর অংশ+ verb+ as+
possessive form+ as+ subject.
Example:
Affirmative: Rafiq is more helpful than any other boy in the team.
Negative: No other boy in the team is as helpful as Rafiq.

Affirmative: Dhaka is larger than all other cities in Bangladesh.


Negative: No other cities in Bangladesh are as large as Dhaka.

Affirmative: Shakespeare is more famous than any other writer in English.


Negative: No other writer in English is as famous as Shakespeare.

Rule 9: Both….and-যুি Affirmative Sentence-কক negative করলত Both এর


পররবলতে not only এবং and এর পররবলতে but also বলে।
Example:
Affirmative: Mr. Bulbul is both rich and kind.
Negative: Mr. Bulbul is not only rich but also kind.
Affirmative: Both Rony and your brother broke the glass last night.
Negative: Not only Rony but also your brother broke the glass last night.
Affirmative: Rahim likes both reading and writing.

Rule 10: Many যুি Affirmative Sentence-কক negative করলত Many এর
পররবলতে not a few বলে।
Example:
Affirmative: Arifa has many qualities.
Negative: Arifa does not have a few qualities.

Rule 11: A few যুি Affirmative Sentence-কক negative করলত A few এর


পররবলতে not many বলে।
Example:
Affirmative: Latif has a few pencils.
Negative: Latif does not have many pencils.

Rule 12: Much যুি Affirmative Sentence-কক negative করলত Much এর


পররবলতে not a little বলে।
Example:
Affirmative: The field has much water due to rain.
Negative: The field does not have a little water due to rain.

Rule 13: A little যুি Affirmative Sentence-কক negative করলত a little এর


পররবলতে not much বলে।
Example:
Affirmative: This mug has a little water.
Negative: This mug does not have much water.

Rule 14: As….as যুি Affirmative Sentence-কক negative করলত প্রথম as এর


পররবলতে not less এবং পলরর as এর পররবলতে than বলে।
Example:
Affirmative: Puspa is as tall as Rikta.
Negative: Puspa is not less tall than Rikta.

Rule 15: Affirmative Sentence-এ Sometimes থাকলে এর পররবলতে not always


বলে।

Rule 16: Too….to যুি Affirmative Sentence-কক negative করলত Too এর
পররবলতে so এবং to এর পররবলতে that+ subject+ cannot (present tense)/could
not (past tense) + verb বলে।
Example:
Affirmative: Joya is too weak to run.
Negative: Joya is so weak that she cannot run.

Affirmative: Joya was too busy to join the party.


Negative: Joya was so busy that she could not join the party.

Affirmative: The tea is too hot for me to drink.


Negative: The tea is so hot that I cannot drink.

Rule 17: োধারনত, Affirmative Sentence-কক negative করলত হলে not বলে এবং
পরবতী শলব্দর রবপরীত শব্দ বলে ।
Example:
Affirmative: Jui is rich.
Negative: Jui is not poor.

Affirmative: The man missed the train.


Negative: The man did not catch the train.

Affirmative: I shall remember you.


Negative: I shall not forget you.

Rule 18: Always-যুি Affirmative Sentence-কক negative করলত হলে এর


পররবলতে never বলে এবং Affirmative অথলবাধক
ে শব্দটির রবপরীত শব্দ বলে।
Example:
Affirmative: We should always remember the martyrs.
Negative: We should never forget the martyrs.

Affirmative: He was always punctual.

Rule 19: Less…...than যুি Affirmative Sentence-কক negative করলত Less এর
পররবলতে not as এবং than এর পররবলতে as বলে।
Example:

Affirmative: Nikita is not less wise than Rikta.


Negative: Nikita is as wise as Rikta.

Affirmative: Maruf is not less tall than Sayem.


Negative: Maruf is as tall as Sayem.
