SAAC ENNLOLNE fo MONITOR CONSOLETTE SANSUI MA-7 Byki a SANSUI ELECTRIC CO,, LTD. 1. BLOCK DIAGRAM snout nue bch alice thet ar ose b selizion — ase our ee | Fas OPE J 2. OPERATION 2-1, Logarithmic Amplifier (See Fig. 2-1) ‘The loparithmic amplifier is installed for the purpose of expanding the cange af meter indication by compressing input signal logarith- imiclly and by adding elements of logarithmic characteristic tothe heqative feedback loop of the amplifier. In his eBodel, diode DO', 03 are consected to the NEB loop of ICD3 to make this amplifier logarithmic characteristic. The logarithmic characteristic of this amplifier can be adjusted by VRO}, 03,05. Becaute ofthe lossrith: ‘mic characteristic of diode, the amount of negative feedback is a ‘tle at small input signal that YRO3 Is installed in parallel with diode DOI, 03 in oxder to control NFB amount at small input signal \VROI varies the whale NFB amaunt of this amp and influences at large fnput signal (around Od), VROS eam conical the gain of ‘whole circuit and gives effect at intermediate input signal, 2-2. Full-wave Rectifier circuit (See Fig. 2-2, 2-3) Fullomave rectifier circuit consists of amp ICOS and half-vave ree- tlfer of 1€03 and DOS, 07. As shown in Fig. 2-2, the fullwave rectiication 4 achleved by mining he output of hall wave rectifier and input of follwrave rectify in rate of 2:1, Output signal of log ‘amp is supplied to pin No, 6 of ICO through: R33 and pin No. 2.0f 1005 through R39, The signal added to 1C03 Is appeared a the ‘output of 1CO3 in outephase. (+) component of this signal is 100% fed baek to input of 1CO3 and (-} component Is supplied to COS through DOS, R41, 43, The signal through RAT, 43 1 ICOS is ‘uktiplied by the value of R47 [paalel compost resistance of RA, {£3) and signal through R39 is multiplies By the value of RA7/R39 23s well, them both signals ae mined at 1C05 in rate of 2:1. The ‘Qurput signal of ICO isthe out of phase, relly the output of full-wave rectified signal's obtained. 2:3, Peak Detection circuit (See Fig. 2-4) 1) Peak hotd ee Peak hold eitcuit fs Integrating cicult composed of C03, input Impedance of ICT, D0, and reverse diestion impedance of TRO. Inorder to hold the peak value of recified signal by fullovave ree tifier, this eireut has small charging and large discharging time con- stant. On this model, the charging time constant is determined by ‘output impedance of IC05 (pla No. 2) and C03 and is externely Smal, The discharging time constant is defined by C03, i ppedance of ICO5, and impedance of DOB, TROS. The peak holding Petiod is for 5 minutes 2) Peak circu Peak circut Functions similarly as peak hold circuit and indicates peak value of Fullowave rectified output signal, however, the di charging time constant is extremely small in contrast to peak hold ‘cuit, When sing this meter 45 peak level Indication, the indica tion response against the input signal fs too fast (attack time within 100 asec) that the large resitor RO} (4.iM@i} and GOS are installed to make time constant large and delay the recovery time (recovery time: move than 1000 mses. 3) WU cireue Since the aack time of VU mete set to be 330 msec to conform Ine movement to the way our eas pereieve sound as volume, the charging time constant is larger In comparison with peak hold cit ‘uit. The charging time constant is determined by output imped lance of 1C0S, CO3 and ROS, and the discharging time constant ‘depends on CO3 and ROS, The attack time of VU meter is set 10 250 mses (0 ~ 20 4), Fig 1 ne toe, wasn 3 oe se ae at t Far I vo ane, iogamg” haltwave refer Sto - wo 2-4.
