QTYSUR 311 - Quantity Surveying

LABORATORY REPORT NO. 4

Quantity Take-off (Computation of Quantities) of Other Civil and Architectural Works:
Finishes, Carpentry, Doors and Windows

Name: ______________________________________________ Date: ____________

Objective/s:
1.) To determine the quantities of Other Civil and Architectural works
(materials only):
a.) Finishes (Plastering Works, Painting Works, Tileworks, Cladding, etc.)
b.) Carpentry (Woodworks)
c.) Doors and Windows

Materials:
1.) Complete Set of Plans of a Residential/Commercial/Facility Building
2.) Laptop
3.) Excel/Spreadsheets
4.) Calculator

Procedure/ Instructions:
1.) As a continuation of quantity estimation, use the same plan to be
estimated.
2.) For finishing works, compute the quantities of materials, labor and
equipment for the following: walls – plastering, painting, cladding,
wallpaper, tileworks etc.; floor – tile works, etc. For details not specified on
the plan (e.g. paint color, type, and other specs), it’s in the discretion of
the estimator to decide upon.
3.) For woodworks, if there are no indicated details for other woodworks,
leave them be, instead, compute for the quantity of materials and labor of
doors and windows needed for the project and if specified on plan, the
carpentry works (e.g. cabinets).
4.) Provide back-up computations for the calculated quantities. Attach a sheet
to this page with your computations shown on it. You may choose to either
compute manually (computerized) or to encode and formulate these in a
spreadsheet to summarize them easily.
5.) Summarize these quantities in a format given using any spreadsheet
application. Print and attach it to this report as well.
6.) The said spreadsheet-based table will be uploaded to Google Drive within
the deadline:
