SAMPLE
The maps show changes in West Park Secondary school during 1950 and 2010.
The maps show significant changes that took place at West Park Secondary school
during a 60-year period from 1950 to 2010.
It is clear from the maps that the school still remained close to the main road. While
that residential houses and farmland disappeared, the school was developing and
increasing in size.
In 1950, there were some residential houses to the West of the school. However, in the
next three decades, these houses were demolished to make way for a small car park
and a science block. There was a construction of a sports field to replace the farmland.
It is also noted that the playground still remained unchanged to the south of the school.
In 2010, another striking change was the expansion of the car park. It was extended
to the south of the school layout, making it three times as large as it was in 1980. As the
car park occupied the area that was used for sports, the sports field and the
playground declined in size.

The maps below show changes in the Spanish city of Castellon in recent times.
The two maps indicate main changes which have taken place in the town of Castellon
between the year 200 and today.
In general, it appears that Castellon has become a much modern city, with far more
shopping and transport facilities.
One interesting change is that the north-east of the city used to be a green area with
lots of trees, but the trees have been cut down, and a new shopping complex has been
constructed. A new tram line has been built, to connect the university with the town
center. In 2000, there was not any accommodation for students, but a hall of residence
has been built near the university.
Castellon has experienced a significant modernization of the train station, which has
been relocated to the east side, between the university and the city centre. A notable
development has been the introduction of a police station to the west.
Another striking change is that the old market in the west of the map has been
knocked down to make way for new shops. A completely new covered market has also
been built on the other side of town. A final interesting development has been the
introduction of a bike-rental scheme in the city centre.

The map shows the growth of a village called Chorleywood between 1868 and
1994
The map illustrates significant changes that took place at the Chorleywood from
1868 to 1994.
Initially, the village only covered a small area to the east of a main road. On the east of
this area, Chorleywood Park and Golf course is now located. The village continued to
expand to the south along the main road from 1883 to 1922, and there was a new
railway running through the village from west to east in 1909. It is also noted that
Chorleywood station is now part of the village.
In the next period, the village kept extending along the east and west side of the
railway. Interestingly, a motorway was built to the east of the village in 1970, passing
through the other main road and railway. The period from 1970 to 1994 experienced
more populated areas growing near motorway intersections with one of the main road
and the railway.

The map shows how Meadowside village and Feton have developed since 1962
till now
- Difference between
1985 and now.
*Overview:
It is clear from the maps that Meadowside village increased in size and has become
Meadowside Suburbs as it merged together/ amalgamated with Fonton. Furthermore,
the infrastructure, housing and facilities have been completely redeveloped over the
given period.
*Body:
In 1962, both Meadowside and Fonton were completely separated with no roads or
railways connecting them, While Fonton had a railway running through it to the north,
Meadowside, located to the west of Fonton, only had a small road from the West.
By 1985, there was a dramatic growth in the size of Meadowside viilage and Fonton.
The small road in Meadowside village had been converted into a main road and was
also extended to the east to connect with Fonton. Meadowside, moreover, had also
developed a housing estate in the west, a leisure complex and a supermarket in the
south.
Currently, both Meadowside, which is now a suburb, and Fonton are joined. The
railway line, passing through Fonton, has been extended to the West where a train
station has been built. To the north of the station, a hotel has been constructed and
opposite to the station, to the south, there is now a business park.

The two maps below show an island before and after the construction of some
tourist facilities
The two maps highlight significant changes that took place at an island after the
construction of some equipment.
It is clear from the maps that the island witnessed spectacular developments as some
tourist facilities were constructed. In general, the island with accommodations, pier,
restaurant and swimming facilities seemed to become a destination for travelers without
influencing the natural environment much.
Before the process of renovation, there were only green trees and empty land on the
island surrounded by sea. However, after that, many facilities were established to
facilitate the tourists. It is obvious that the trees were not cut down to make way for
modernization. In the south of the island, a pier for boats to land was built and from
there to the north, a vehicle track leading to the reception and restaurant was erected.
On both sides of reception, residential areas were located with the connection of
footpath. Less than 40 meters from the west accommodation, there was a swimming
area introduced on the beach.
