KIN 108 Reflection_Final (Complete)
KIN 108 Reflection_Final (Complete)
Overview
Use the following prompts to help you reflect on your health and physical activity after completing this KIN
course. Again, as in any reflection, there are no right or wrong answers. Grading will be based on how evident
it is that you put thought and effort into reflecting and responding to these prompts:
Prompts
1. What have been your biggest takeaways from this KIN activity course as a whole as it relates to
health and physical activity?
- I feel like I’ve realized how much grit I have. This class made me realize I could accomplish more
than I previously thought, which was highly encouraging. It made me more motivated to go outside
and attempt physical activities that otherwise would scare me. I also realized how fun physical
activities could be. I already knew that I liked a challenge, but this course helped me realize that I
could handle even more of a challenge than I previously thought.
2. Do you feel that you made an improvement in one (or more) of the five components of fitness by
participating in this course? If so, rate your level of improvement on a scale from 1 to 5 (1 =
slight improvement, 5 = major improvement), and state which component(s) of fitness you feel
that you improved (cardiovascular, muscular strength, muscular endurance, body composition,
and/or flexibility)
- I do feel like my muscular endurance improved significantly over the course of this class. At the
beginning of the class, we rode up to the Old Mill on mountain campus, and I was unable to make it
up the hill without stopping and found myself incredibly exhausted. By the end of the course, I was
able to make it up the hill without stopping and without feeling too tired. I also feel like my muscular
strength improved, as I was able to make it up hills faster by the end of the class. My body
composition and flexibility remained the same as the beginning of the class.
3. Review your two-week physical activity log. Did you feel like you completed more, less, or the
same amount of physical activity during these two weeks as you did on average before taking
this course? What factors do you think most affected your physical activity patterns?
- I did way more than I usually did! I tried to do some type of activity every day, even if it was just
stretching. I found that once I got started, it was far easier to keep going. It was difficult to force
myself out of the house to do different activities, but once I did, I found that I felt better, and my
strength increased. The fact that I was being graded on my physical activity was a definite motivator
for me to do things I usually would not do.
4. How would you rate your overall confidence and self-efficacy for using what you learned in this
course to be physically active in the future? Do you think it had an overall positive impact on
your ability to be physically active as you move forward in your life? Why or why not?
- I feel much more confident in my mountain biking skills and believe that I will be able to bike as an
effective form of exercise in the future. This course had an overall positive effect on me, even if it
was difficult at times. I do think that there was a big aspect of the class that was mental for me. The
class helped me to strengthen my mental resolve. I also liked learning technical skills that I
otherwise would’ve never known about. I think this class made strenuous activity more easily
accessible for me, especially since I don’t like going to the gym.
