PROJECT REPORT

MINDSET OF THE TEACHER DURING ONLINE

CLASS:

As in-person interactions came to a halt,

entire offices shifted online. Those who had a
roof over their heads and access to jobs and
technology started working from home. The
pandemic also changed the course of
education, forcing a shift in the instructor-to-
student interaction from within physical
structures to virtual classrooms. Since this
transition there has been endless debate on
the deepening digital divide, and the
psychological and sociological aspects of
online learning. However, the quality of the
current models for integration of technology
in education remains untested.

Teachers have a good relationship with

students during online classes:
Not really, student-teacher relationship (STR)
has been consistently associated to positive
and generalized outcomes, though its quality
seems to be questioned in online teaching,
which in turn has had a negative impact on
students and teachers’ wellbeing during school
closures forced by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Online class or offline class:

If you ask your child whether they prefer to stay

at home and study or go to school, they will
probably say that they want to continue studying
online. And we cannot blame them for wishing
so, as they might not have stepped inside a
school to know what they are missing.
This online classes vs offline classes essay
questions whether, if presented with an option to
study from home, would you have stopped
coming to school? The chances are less.
Today’s generation is more familiar with online
classes than traditional classrooms. They are so
accustomed to online classes that the thought of
going back to school is itself scary for them.
While many of them prefer online classes, some
students wish to go back to school and share a
good laugh with their friends. So, here we will see
whether the offline class is better than the online
class.

Problems faced by the teacher during

online classes:
Challenges of Online Teaching and Possible
Solutions:

Engaging Students: One of the problems faced by

teachers during online classes is the difficulty with
engaging students. ...

A better academic result in online

classes or offline classes :
The Covid-19 pandemic brought a dynamic
shift in the world education system. The
imposition of lockdown led to the shutdown of
physical classrooms and thus online education
became the new norm. Although online
learning has managed to keep education
alive in these difficult times, it cannot
completely replace it. Both online and offline
education have their own set of advantages
and disadvantages. In this blog, we will explore
one of the most debated topics these days,
online classes vs offline classes.

Advantage of having online classes:

E-learning or online learning has become a new
normal for the majority of students around the
world and they absolutely enjoy it.
The internet has made studying easy for these
kids and they are using technology in the best
way possible. Here are the advantages of online
education classes that the students leverage the
most.
● Flexible Schedule And Environment:- There
is no fact that can beat this disparity between
online education and offline education. The
online mode of learning has given the students
the leverage of creating their own learning space
that best fits their needs.
From sitting on your study table to your couch to
listening to the lecture podcast before sleeping,
the students have benefited immensely from this
new method. You save a lot of time and money
spent on traveling to school. The same time can
now be invested in learning new topics.
● Self-disciplinary Skills:- The students have
developed self-disciplinary skills on their own
while studying at home. They are the masters of
managing their time well.
They have learned how to schedule their
homework, class tests, classes, and other
activities that usually happen in school. Parents
believe that their kids have become more
responsible and learned the art of time
management.
● Affordable:- Education has become relatively
more affordable since online classes have taken
over. The cost of uniforms, transportation, and
extra-curricular expenses has reduced drastically
and made education more affordable and
convenient for the students as well as the
parents.

Disadvantage of online class:

Every coin has two sides. Hence, online
education classes are liable to have
disadvantages as well. The most common
disadvantages faced by the students in online
classes are.
● Technical issues - Bad networks can cause
various technical issues and disruptions in online
classes.
● More screen time - The students spend more
time in front of their laptops which has increased
their screen time more than usual. It is harmful to
their health and can cause many side effects.
● No interaction with peers - Unlike offline
classes, the students have no to minimum
interaction with their peers and teachers due to
which they begin to lack good communication
skills.

ADVANTAGE OF OFFLINE CLASS:
Offline education is the traditional form of
learning. It has many advantages that we all
know. Let us explore.
● Minimal distractions - In offline classes, the
teachers focus only on learning, and therefore,
the students have minimal distractions while
studying. They solely pay attention to the topic
taught in class.
● Individual attention - The teachers pay
individual attention to each student which helps
students to perform better in exams. They have
more clarity to their doubts and gain a better
understanding of all the topics.
● Hands-on practice - Usually in online classes,
the students do not get a chance to hands-on
practice in certain subjects. It is only possible in
offline classes to understand a topic better.
● More interaction and engagement - In face-
to-face learning, the students have more
interaction with the teachers and the students.
They get to engage more in classroom activities.

MINDSET OF PARENTS DURING ONLINE

CLASS:

School districts have done their best to plan

learning contingencies due to the COVID

situation. Some schools have opted for virtual

learning to keep children and staff safe, and this

is an entirely new paradigm for everyone

involved– the teachers, the students, and last but

not least: the parents.

We are all figuring it out as we go along. It’s a bit

like building the plane as you’re flying it.

Children have any physical activites during online

classes:

1.Poor ergonomics: Unlike classrooms, the

children are not bound to follow good
ergonomics at home. Taking online classes on
bed and sofas are one of the commonest
reasons that we can attribute to recent rise on
back pains or fibromyalgia pains.
2.Lack of physical activities: Obesity in
children is on the rise either due to lack of
outdoor physical activities or due to binge
eating and easy availability of junk food at
home.
Online class affect your children’s
academics:

We parents are really worried about our children

academic results which has rapidly

decreased .comparing to offline classes the result

was not up to the mark. Our children has been

distracted by these social medias, Ott movie

platforms ,video games and multiple

factors .Lack of concentration is main

Advice for students :

 Take Regular Breaks: It's important to take

breaks from the screen at regular intervals to
avoid eye strain. Humans blink their eyes 15
to 20 times in a minute, which reduces when
they have occupied a screen. To avoid this
eye strain taking a break every 20 minutes is
very necessary. Students should also change
their position and give themselves a walk or
stretching during the respective break.
 Healthy Diet and Snacks: Diet and food
habits play an important role in the growth
and development of a student. Healthy and
nutritious food keeps them focused and filled
with energy the whole day. Also, healthy
snacks should be prioritised for the children
while studying instead of packaged snacks
and junk food.
 More Water Consumption: Apart from a
healthy diet and food habits, adequate water
consumption is vital for students attending
online classes. Parents should instruct the
children to drink water regularly which not
only keeps their body hydrated but also
avoids dry eyes. As fruits are rich sources of
fibre and water with all their vitamins and
nutrients, should be given to students taking
classes online.
 Use a Blue light filter or Glasses: The
screen of the Laptops, computers, tablets,
and smartphone emits blue light which is
harmful to the eyesight and discomforts the
eye with its level of contrast. Blue light filters
or anti-glare glasses protect the eye from the
emitted rays from the screen.

The problem faced by students:

Lack of in-person interaction.

Lack of discipline.

Lack of digital literacy.

Technical issues.

Key factors for making an online course

effective:

When we talk about online courses, it is essential

to distinguish what type of online courses we are

considering. The big dividing line is between

credit-bearing online courses offered as part of a

degree program and noncredit online courses

that result in a certificate or other nontraditional

credential.

In general, although this is changing, credit-

bearing online courses tend to mirror the size

and costs of residential (face-to-face) courses.

Noncredit online courses can enroll many more

learners (sometimes in the hundreds of

thousands, but usually much less) and are often

(although not always) considerably less

expensive.

For either online course scenario, credit-bearing

or noncredit, what is most important is that the

design of the online course achieves its goals. To

judge success, we need to know what job the

learner is hiring that course to accomplish. These

goals will be different between and within various

credit-bearing and noncredit online courses.

If I had to pick one factor that drives online

courses' success, I would say engagement.

Use of technology in education:

It is hard to get excited about any educational

technologies during COVID-19. Mostly, we all are

looking forward to getting back to campus. If

COVID-19 has taught us anything, it has shown

us the limitations of technology-mediated

learning. There is simply no substitute for

educators and learners (professors and students)

sharing the same physical space for much of

what we do in higher education.

I do think that when the COVID-19 public health

emergency abates, some aspects of higher

education will be stronger than ever. While I am

anxious about the pandemic's impact on the

financial viability of many schools, I think that we

will learn a great deal from this experience.

Mostly, I believe that we will see how precious a

non-technologically mediated education can be.

When we can come together in a physical space,

we will make that time as productive and

efficient as possible.

Ensure the quality of online courses:

To the question of "how do you ensure the

quality of online courses," my answer is always

the same: How do you ensure the quality of face-

to-face courses? If I had to point to any single

trend that has raised the quality of teaching and

learning in higher education over the past two

decades, my nomination would be online

education.

Online learning has served the largely

unrecognized purpose of providing the broadest

and most impact educator development program

ever conceived. In traditional online programs,

faculty work closely with a team of nonfaculty

educators to develop and teach courses. These

nonfaculty educators include instructional

designers, librarians, media educators,

assessment experts and others.

SUPPORT OFFERD BY TECH:

During COVID-19, the entire learner support

infrastructure at my institution has had to pivot
from mostly face-to-face to completely digital.
This has been true of every school and university.
What we know is that students learning at
distance, taking courses mediated by technology,
require much greater levels of support than
students in face-to-face settings. Combining the
challenges of quickly pivoting to remote learning
with the stresses of living under a global
pandemic has caused the demand for learner
support to grow exponentially.

ONLINE CLASS ON DAILY BASIS:

Instructional methods, course requirements, and
learning technologies can vary significantly from
one online program to the next, but the vast bulk
of them use a learning management system
(LMS) to deliver lectures and materials, monitor
student progress, assess comprehension, and
accept student work. LMS providers design these
platforms to accommodate a multitude of
instructor needs and preferences. While some
courses deliver live lectures using video
conferencing tools, others allow students to
download pre-recorded lectures and use
message boards to discuss topics. Instructors
may also incorporate simulations, games, and
other engagement-boosters to enhance learning.
Students should research individual programs to
find out how and when they would report to
class; how lectures and materials are delivered;
how and how much they would collaborate with
faculty and peers; and other important details.
We address many of these instructional methods
and LMS capabilities elsewhere in this guide.

Effects of online classes on physical health

1. Eyesight problems
Increased screen time has increased the strain
on the eyes, resulting in major headaches. This
was applicable not only to the students but also
to teachers.
2.Bad ergonomics
Human factors and ergonomics is the application
of psychological and physiological principles to
the engineering and design of products,
processes, and systems.
Group Reflection

This topic is [effects of online class] was chosen

to show the real pain and the experience of the
students, teachers, and also parents too. After
choosing this topic we started our resources by
interviewing all the people who are related to this
field and got a clear thought on it .
We collected the thoughts of people by the way
of interview and we have come to know about
the real struggle about the teachers during online
classes and also the parents.
The students also faced lot of problems like;
eyesight problem, lack of physical activities ,
distracted by overuse of social media platforms.
This project has thought us how unproductive a
online class maybe? This has also thought us a
valuable lesson about this topic and gave this
wonderful tips to make our online class more
effective and easy. Hope there is no online class
anymore because students are fed-up of this
kind of teaching.
