SUBJECTIVE

19. If ( x − 3, −6) = (4, y ) find x, y . 6. Write the co-ordinate of the point which lies on both the axes.

x-3 = 4

x=7

y = -6

20. Write the co-ordinates of any two points whose abscissa is 2 less than the ordinate

Eg: (2,4) (3,5)

21. If the co-ordinates of points P and Q are (−5,3),(−5,m), and the sum of the abscissa and ordinate of
both points are equal, then write the possible values of m

-5 + -5 = 3+m

-10 = 3+m

m = -13

22.In rectangle OABC, point O is the origin OA=10 units along x -axis, AB=8 units. Find the co-ordinates
of vertices A,B and C.

A(10,0) or A(-10,0), B(10,8) or B(-10,8), C(0,8) or C(0,-8)

23.In which quadrant do the following points lie

A(2,3)- I B(-2,3) - II C(-3,-5) -III D(3,-1)- IV

24. ABC is an equilateral triangle as shown in the figure. Find the coordinates of its
vertices.

As ABC is an equilateral triangle,

and BC= 6 so, AC= 6, CO=3,

So
AO=√ AC2−OC2 =√ 62−32
AO=√ 36−9 =√ 27 =3√ 3
So, here x=0 and y=3√ 3
Answer (0, 3 √ 3 )

25.Find the value of x and y, if (2x + xy, 2y) = (3,4)

2y=4 y=2

2x+xy =3 2x+2x = 3 4x =3 x=3/4

26

(i) (-3,5)
(ii) (-5,-3)
(iii) (-5,3)
(iv) (3,5)
