real-life situation.

line that never intersects, while
perpendicular line is when two lines
intersect and forms a 90°.
B. Motivation

Direction: You will choose three number (The students will participate actively)
from 1-6. I will roll the die three times
and list the three numbers on the board Possible Outcomes: 1-2-3, 1-2-4, 1-2-5,
that will come up. Whoever can get the 1-2-6, 2-3-5, 2-3-4, 2-3-6, 3-4-5, 3-5-6,
three numbers will have a reward. 4-5-6, 4-6-1, 3,6,1.

Probability
What comes into your mind when you
hear the word probability? Possible answers:
Predict
Chance/ chances
Expectations
Possibility
When you are watching the news, then
you hear that there will be a 90% chance
of rain, what will you do then? Possible answer:
I will not go to school.
I will bring an umbrella.
Weather forecast is an example of
probability.

Will you please read what is the


meaning of probability? Probability is the measure or estimation
of how likely an event is to occur which
can be expressed as fraction, decimal, or
a percent.
Usually in mathematics we deal with
things that are certain and always
happen like if we add 1+1, what is the
sum?
The sum is equals to 2.
Or if we multiply 5x2, what is the
product? The product is equals to 10.

Meaning there is no uncertainty at all.


But in real world many things can’t be
predicted with total certainty

To understand it easier we have here the


probability line.

What can you observe on our probability


line? In the figure we have 0-1. 0 is
impossible meaning it will not happen
or it will never happen. 1 means certain
or you are sure that it will happen.

Levels of probability

Impossible – It will never happen.


Example:
Getting a 7 on a die (The students will listen attentively)

Unlikely: There is a small chance that it


will happen.
Example:
Getting yellow on a wheel

Even-chance = There is a 50/50 chance


that it will happen.
Example:
Tossing a coin

Likely-There is a high chance that it will


happen.
Example:
Getting black ball on a jar with 2 white
balls and 8 black balls.
Certain
Getting a green pencil out of 10 green
pencils.

Tell whether the event is certain,


possible, and impossible to happen.

A mother will give birth to twins.


It is possible.
Tamarind is sour.
It is certain.
You will go sunbathing tonight.
It is impossible.
It will snow in the Philippines.
It is impossible.
