Microbiology
G10 Add on Science Class
Course Description
Microbiology is a course dealing with the study of
microorganism; they are individually too small to
be seen with the naked eye. It includes the study
of bacteria, viruses, yeast molds (mycology),
protozoa (protozoology), some algae, and some
forms of life that do not fit well into any of these
groups. Such forms of life are given the name
“microorganisms”. Sometimes they are called
“microbes” or, in the vernacular, germs.
Our Goals
enable to describe the importance of microorganisms
in all aspect s of our lives, but it is primarily devoted to
their function as disease producer and the ways in
which humans can control such organism.

prepare to become citizens who are scientifically and

technologically oriented and able to apply the
concepts and principles in order to meet the call of
our country’s industrialization and their making them
globally competitive.
Specific Goals
Deepen your concepts in microbiology, such as bacteria, viruses, protozoa,
algae, yeasts and molds.

Enhance the interest in microbiology that you may became prepared for high
educational tasks.
Develop certain degree of maturity in your thinking process and decision related
problems to microbiology.

Improve your rational and critical thinking as they deal with experiments and
natural phenomena involving microbiology.

.Strengthen your scientific attitudes that were developed in earlier

science course.
Specific Goals
Improve the students’ skills in observing, comparing, measuring, predicting,
inferring, communicating and experimenting.
Develop the students’ skills in applying concepts, laws and principles through laboratory
experiments, project making and practical application at home like single precaution to
prevent diseases due microorganism or making products’ using microorganisms.

Inculcate in the students the desire and commitment to protect human being with the
knowledge of microbiology and enhance environmental quality.
Develop the student’s sense of objectivity, which will eventually lead to wholesome
disposition towards the realities of life and a wider perspective for the self, the
family, the community and the society at large.
Inculcate in the students values and attitudes contributing to the
development of nation.
