Electricity and Circuits

Electricity is energy from moving electrons that powers modern technology and is essential for understanding the world. An electric circuit, consisting of a power source, conductors, a load, and a switch, allows current to flow and perform work. There are two types of circuits: series, where components are connected end-to-end, and parallel, where components are connected across common points, enabling multiple current paths.

Electricity and Circuits

Electricity is a form of energy resulting from the movement of electrons. It powers homes, schools,

industries, and virtually all modern technology. Understanding electricity is essential for grasping

how the modern world operates.

An electric circuit is a path through which electric current flows. A basic circuit consists of a power

source (like a battery), conductors (wires), a load (like a bulb), and a switch to control the flow.

When the switch is closed, current flows from the power source through the load, producing light,

heat, or mechanical work. If the circuit is open, current cannot flow, and the device stops working.

There are two types of circuits: series and parallel. In a series circuit, components are connected

end-to-end, so current flows through each component in turn. In a parallel circuit, components are

connected across common points, allowing current to flow through multiple paths.

Learning about electricity and circuits is important for building and repairing electronic devices,

understanding how energy is used, and promoting safety in electrical systems.
