Gibbs' Reflective Cycle (1988) - Sample

Reflection
Subject: ELECT 303

Reflection: Prelim Quizzes

1. Description
During the Prelim period, I took two quizzes in ELECT 303. I got a score of 5 out of 20 in one
quiz and 6 out of 30 in another. I was not able to take one of the quizzes because I was
absent due to not feeling well, and two quiz papers were not returned to me.

2. Feelings
I felt disappointed and frustrated after seeing my scores. I knew I could have done better,
but I also felt a bit helpless because I was sick and missed a quiz.

3. Evaluation
The experience showed that I wasn’t fully prepared for the quizzes. Not having the quiz
papers made it harder to reflect on what I did wrong and learn from my mistakes.

4. Analysis
I realized that I need to be more consistent with my studying and make sure I catch up
when I miss a class. My performance reflected gaps in my understanding of the lessons.

5. Conclusion
I should have studied more regularly and reviewed the topics in advance. I also could have
asked my classmates or teacher about the quizzes I missed.

6. Action Plan
Next time, I will study more consistently and communicate with my teacher if I am absent. I
will also make sure to keep and review all returned papers for future assessments.
