1 Great Pyramid of Giza

The Great Pyramid, the only Wonder that still exists, was the tallest man-made
structure in the world for nearly 4,000 years. Created around 2560 BC on the banks of
the Nile River, it served as the tomb of the fourth-century pharaoh, Khufu (Cheops). It
is the largest of the three Pyramids of Giza.

2 Hanging Gardens of Babylon

Is considered one of the Seven Ancient Wonders. Historians who claimed to have seen
them, described them as marvels of agricultural engineering. They are believed to
have been built around 600 B.C. by Nebuchadnezzar II.
3 Statue of Zeus

Phidias, the most renowned sculptor of antiquity, created this statue. Located in the
Temple of Zeus in Olympia, Greece, it showed Zeus seated on a throne adorned with
gold, precious gems. The statue measured about 12 meters and was destroyed by an
earthquake in the fifth century B.C.

4 Temple of Artemis

In Ephesus, a magnificent temple dedicated to Artemis was built, it went through


various phases of destruction and reconstruction. Its most famous version, completed
in 550 B.C., measured 115 meters long by 55 meters wide.
5 Mausoleum of Halicarnassus

Designed between 353 and 350 BC for Mausolus and his wife Artemisia II of Caria. The
mausoleum, about 41 meters high, was decorated with sculptures and valuable works
of art.

6 Colossus of Rhodes

Built between 292 and 280 B.C. in honor of the victory over the invading army of
Demetrius, this colossus about 33 meters high was destroyed by an earthquake in 224
B.C.
7 Lighthouse of Alexandria

Built on an island in the harbor of Alexandria, Egypt, this lighthouse, more than 107
meters high, served as a model for the following lighthouses. It was completed
between 285 and 247 B.C. and a mirror was used to reflect sunlight during the day. At
night, a fire was lit to guide travelers.
