Detailed Lesson in Math 014942

The lesson plan for Mathematics III focuses on teaching students to identify and use relation symbols for comparing numbers, specifically greater than (>), less than (<), and equal (=). The lesson includes interactive activities such as a game and discussions to engage students and reinforce their understanding of the topic. Visual aids and real objects are utilized to enhance learning, and students are encouraged to participate actively in identifying and comparing numbers.

Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics III

I. Objectives
After the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. identify less than, greater than and equal symbols.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Comparing Numbers Using Relation Symbols (>, <, and =)
Materials: Visual Aids and real objects
Reference: Mathematics Grade 3 (pages 25 – 29)
Values: Give importance to the relation symbols when comparing numbers.
III. Procedure
A. Preparation

Teacher's Activity Pupil's Activity

A. Developmental Activities

1. Motivation
Class, I prepared a game for you and all
you have to do is to shoot the ball into
the basket.
I will group you into two groups. In
your group, you have to select 5
person to shoot the balls. You will be
Yes ma'am
given 3 minutes to shoot. The group
who can shoot the highest number of
balls will be the winner. Understand?
2. Presentation
Class, I will show you a chart.

Best friends Number of Rubber

bands collected

Jhermae 350
350 ma'am
Angel 340 340 ma'am

Questions: They are the same ma'am

1. How many rubber bands did
Jhermae collected? They are not the same ma'am
2. How about Angel?
3. What can you say about their digits
in the hundredths place? 350 ma'am from Jhermae

4. How about in tenth place?

5. Which number of Rubber band

collected is greater?

(Pupil's do the same)

Very Good! 350 is bigger than 340.

Give yourselves a Hame Wave Clap.

Hame Hame Good Job!
Now Let's Identify the results of
your game earlier.

Groups Number of balloons

being shot

Group 2

3. Discussion
Class, base on our activity earlier, do
you have any idea what is our topic for
today? Yes ma'am
What is it? About comparing numbers ma'am
Very Good!
Our topic for today is all about
comparing numbers using relation
symbols.

"Comparing Numbers Using Relation

Symbols (>, <, and =)".

And the first symbol we can use to

indicate relationships between
numbers is the Greater than symbol
(>).

Greater than (>) - This is a symbol used

to show numbers greater than the
other.
For Example:
1637 and 1259
1637 is greater than 1259.
In symbol it is written as
1637 >1259

And the second one is the Less than

symbol (<).
Less than (<) - This is a symbol used to
show numbers less than the other.
For example:
1259 and 1637
1259 is less than 1637
In symbol it is written as
1259<1637

And the third or the last symbol is the

equal symbol.
Equal (=) - This is a symbol used to
show numbers having the same value.
For Example:
2500 and 2000+500
2500 is equal to 2000+500
In symbol it is written as
2500 = 2000+500 or 2500 = 2500

Another example: (Pupil's listening)

Given:
Jhermae - 350
Angel - 340

In Greater than (>)

350 > 340
In Less than (<)
340 < 350

4. Generalization
Now let see if you really understand
the lesson
How do we compare numbers? To compare numbers we use the following
symbols for greater than, for less than, and for
What symbols do we use? Come here equal
in front and right the symbols.
<, >, and =
Very Good!
How do you compare this one 500 and
300?
500 > 300
How about this one in 425 and 132?
How about this 300 and 200+ 100? 132 < 425

300 = 200+100 or 300 = 300

Who can give me an example of
greater than? You may right it here in
front
How about in less than?
How about in equal? (Pupil's raising their hands to give an example)
Very Good! Now give yourselves a
