General Preparation
 Unpack/verify the condition and completeness of shipment. For discrepancies, use the table below.
Product or part description Observation Action

 Discuss any specific questions or issues with the customer prior to starting.
 Discuss any configuration options with the customer prior to starting
 Check for required service note applicability and firmware updates if connecting to instruments.
 Upgrades only – Ensure with customer that instrument control settings, data, methods etc have been
properly saved or archived prior to starting any installation procedures.
 Verify line voltage, voltage settings, and power cord.

Place the tester on the workbench

 Place the tester on the workbench.

Setup Heater-Circulator
 Ensure the heater-circulator has been installed beneath the back of the vessel plate with the power
outlet facing the right and the legs inserted into the holes in the base plate.
 Ensure the isolators on the legs of the heater-circulator are properly positioned to eliminate
vibration from the heater-circulator.
 Ensure the two stainless steel clamps have been installed to properly secure the tubing to the heater-
circulator.
 Check the remaining connections of the heater-circulator tubing on each side of the water bath.
 Connect the six-pin cable to the rear of the heater-circulator and the other end into the position
marked BATH HEATER on the rear panel of the dissolution apparatus.

Install Temperature Probe

 Insert the water bath temperature probe into the BATH TEMP jack on the rear of the drive unit on
the dissolution apparatus.
 Place the other end of the temperature probe through the hole in the center of the vessel plate in the
water bath.
 If applicable, insert the External Vessel Temperature Probe cable into the VESSEL TEMP jack on the
rear of the dissolution apparatus drive unit.
 Place the External Vessel Temperature Probe in the hole in the vessel plate, at the left-side rear of the
apparatus.

Connect Power Cords and Power On

 Connect or verify connections of power cords to all components.
 Plug the cords into electrical outlets of the appropriate voltage.
 Turn on the power of the dissolution apparatus using the switch located on the left side of the drive
unit.
 Ensure the serial number displayed matches the serial number label on the front of the instrument.
 Ensure the self test conducted upon initialization passes, which is indicated by a green check mark.
 If applicable, verify communication with other components in the system.

Level the Tester

 Remove the black caps from the five (5) screws located on the front, side, and rear of the base plate
of the dissolution apparatus.
 Raise the side stability feet located toward the back on either side of the base plate so they are not
touching the laboratory bench.
 Using the 90 Allen key in the top of the front level-adjustment screws, adjust the screws to achieve
left-to-right level within tolerance. It may be necessary to loosen the nut(s) beneath the base plate to
allow for adjustment.
 Using the 90 Allen key in the top of the rear level-adjustment screw, adjust the screw to achieve
front-to-back level within tolerance. It may be necessary to lift the heater-circulator to gain access to
this screw.
 Verify the level of the dissolution apparatus.
 Once the unit is leveled, use the open-end wrench to tighten the nut(s) below the base plate.
 Lower the side stability feet located toward the back on either side of the base plate until they touch
the laboratory bench. Do not over-tighten to ensure level is maintained.
 Re-install the black caps on all of the screws.

Fill the Water Bath

 If necessary, raise the drive unit to allow for access to the water bath.
 Fill the water bath to an appropriate level with purified water and additives specified by the
customer, using the label affixed to the bath as a guide. Be sure to allow for displacement of the
water once the dissolution vessels are installed.
 With the water bath filled, re-verify the instrument level front to back and right to left.

Power on Heater-Circulator
 Turn on the power to the heater-circulator using the switch located on the unit.
 Ensure the water flow through the heater-circulator begins. To release air trapped in the pump or
heater cartridge, refer to the "PRIMING THE PUMP" sticker on the left side of the heater-circulator.
 Ensure no leaks are present at any of the tubing connections.

Install Vessels
 If necessary, raise the drive unit to the fully raised position.
 Carefully install the dissolution vessels in the vessel plate.
 For the standard vessel, rotate the two clips for each position over the rim of the vessel to secure it
in place.
 If necessary, place the TruAlign blank vessel position covers on the vessel plate openings at Position
7 and Position 8. Rotate the two clips for each position over the cover to secure it in place.

Install Sample Manifold

 Section NOT applicable.
 From the Main screen, press Menu, then Diagnostics.
 Position the sample manifold so the center screw is aligned with the center receptor beneath the
drive unit. Ensure the left and right alignment cylinders are also positioned correctly.
 Push the manifold up into the drive unit until resistance is met.
 While gently lifting upward, press Load from within the Manifold Control box. The internal drive
should slowly lift the manifold to its fully raised position.
 If the unit is equipped with AutoTemp, attach the RS232 cable from the left side of the manifold to
the left connector on the underside of the drive unit. Attached the RS232 cable from the right side of
the manifold to the right connector on the underside of the drive unit.
 If the unit is equipped with autosampling, locate the black sample tubing fasteners and attach the
fastener to the sample tubing wrap.
 If applicable, affix the fasteners to the underside of the drive unit. A fastener is affixed to the left and
to the right of the center drive unit lift.
 Connect the tubing to the system. Ensure each line is attached to its identical color.
