(Hindi art integrated project)
Mathematics
1. Find the HCF and LCM of the following pairs using prime factorization:
a) 96 and 404
b) 65 and 117
a) √3
b) (2 + √5) / 3
Chapter 2: Polynomials
1. Find the zeroes of the following polynomials and verify the relationship between zeros and
coefficients:
a) x² - 3x + 2
b) x² + x - 6
a) 5x³ - 2x + 7
b) 1/x + 3x²
a) 7x⁴ - 5x³ + x - 8
b) 4 - x² + 9x⁵
4. If x = 2 is a zero of the polynomial p(x) = x³ - 4x² + x + 6, find the other zeros by factorization.
a) x² - 16
b) x² + 5x + 6
a) x + y = 7, x - y = 1
b) 2x + 3y = 12, x = 3y
a) 3x + 2y = 16, 2x - y = 3
b) x + 2y = 5, 2x + 4y = 10
a) x + y = 4, x - y = 2
a) 2x + 3y = 6, 4x + 6y = 12
b) x - y = 4, 3x - 3y = 12

Answer briefly:
4. A ray of light passes through the center of curvature of a concave mirror. What will be the nature of its
reflection?
5. Define 1 dioptre.
6. Draw a ray diagram to show the formation of an image when an object is placed:
7. Why does a pencil appear bent when placed in a glass of water? Explain using the concept of
refraction.
8. An object is placed at a distance of 20 cm from a concave mirror of focal length 10 cm. Find the
position and nature of the image formed.
9. A convex lens forms a real image 30 cm away from the lens when an object is placed 10 cm in front of
it. Find the focal length of the lens.
10. The refractive index of water with respect to air is 1.33. What is the speed of light in water if its speed
in air is 3 × 10⁸ m/s?
12. You are given a convex lens. How will you use it to determine its focal length in a school lab using a
distant object?
Use a small mirror and a candle to form an image on a wall/screen. Try varying the position of the candle.
Record at least 3 positions and describe:
*Draw a table and reflect on how image properties changed with object distance.
