Subject: ENGLISH
Poetry Section:
• Compare and contrast the theme and writing style of the both the poems and poets
of ‘Mother At Sixty Six and Keeping Quiet
• Pick out the Figures of Speech used in both the above mentioned poems.

Prose Section:
• Imagine yourself at the Third Level and describe the scene in your own words. (120-
150 Words)
Note : You may include only a few words from the chapter. Make sure to use your
own vocabulary for writing this answer.
• Change the character of Tiger King from a penny wise pond foolish to a wise king
and reverse his actions done during the course of the story.
• Collect the data of the under privileged children our country from the reliable sites
(e.g. WHO) and write an expository paragraph keeping Saheb’s and Mukesh’s
working condition in mind. (400-500 words)
• Franz felt sorry at the end of the chapter for not being serious towards learning his
language. Think yourself as Franz and tell whether you feel the same way for your
own language as you have seen people prefer English over Hindi language. Do you
think it is need of the hour too? Give a suitable answer. Give reference of the chapter
the Last Lesson.

Note: The above mentioned work is to be done in English Fair Note Book.
Writing Section:
• Write two notices of you r choice. Stick to the format and word limit. (In English Fair
Note Book)

Reading *
• Read the editorial page of any English Newspaper and frame 10 questions from each
article.

For your holiday homework, you are required to create a Map Work Booklet. This will help
you revise important geographical and historical locations chapter-wise. Follow the
instructions below carefully:

1.Instructions for Map Work Booklet

Booklet Preparation:

o Make a cover page with the title:


“Map Work Booklet – Social Science”
Include your Name, Class, Section, and Roll Number.
o Decorate the booklet neatly and creatively.
o Bind or staple all the pages together to make a proper booklet.

Map Work Guidelines:

o Each page should contain one map activity related to one chapter.
o You will be given a list of places to mark and label for each chapter.
o Use a political or physical map of India/World as required.
o Mark, label, and color the maps neatly and accurately.

Content:

o Your booklet should contain at least 10-15 maps – one (or more) for each
chapter/unit.
o Make sure to write the chapter name and number on each page.
o Use only pencil for marking .You may color the maps lightly.

Presentation Tips:

o Maintain cleanliness and neatness.


o Use legends/keys where needed.
o You may paste printed outline maps or draw by hand if confident.
