Batch No. 12 Semester 7

Branch ECE Supervisor(s) Dr. Naman Garg

1. Title of the Project: PowerPulse: Smart Energy Insight

2. Introduction
PowerPulse: Smart Energy Insight is a cutting-edge solution designed to empower users with
real-time information about their electricity consumption. This IoT-based smart meter
measures and records electricity usage in residential, commercial, and industrial settings,
providing detailed insights that allow users to make informed decisions about their energy
consumption, reduce costs, and improve energy efficiency. PowerPulse integrates voltage and
current sensors, along with a WiFi module, to continuously monitor electrical parameters and
report them to a cloud-based system accessible through a mobile or web application. By
providing accurate, real-time data, PowerPulse enhances energy management and contributes
to the development of a sustainable energy future.

3. Problem Definition
Traditional utility meters lack real-time monitoring capabilities, leading to inefficient energy
usage and billing inaccuracies. Users are often unaware of their consumption patterns until
they receive a bill, preventing them from taking corrective action in real time. Additionally,
traditional meters do not support data collection for advanced analytics, which could help
optimize energy usage. There is a need for an IoT-based smart meter that provides real-time
monitoring, accurate data collection, and easy access to consumption insights to help users
make proactive decisions and reduce their energy bills.

4. Objectives
Design an IoT-based electricity energy meter.
Integrate voltage and current sensors, as well as a WiFi module (ESP32), into the smart
meter.
Develop a custom PCB to miniaturize the smart meter and create a market-ready product.
Investigate and validate the performance of the smart meter by measuring and recording
electricity consumption and providing detailed energy insights.
Enable real-time monitoring and control through a cloud-based application, such as Blynk,
with potential for additional features like alerts and energy-saving suggestions.
