The document outlines an experiment to study and verify the Maximum Power Transfer Theorem, which states that maximum power is transferred to a load when its impedance matches the complex conjugate of the source impedance. It includes a list of apparatus, theoretical background, procedure for the experiment, and sections for observations and calculations. The conclusion section suggests that the results will compare observed and calculated values of power transfer.

MAXIMUM POWER TRANSFER THEOREM ~
AIM: «To study and verify maximum power transfer Theorem
APPRATU

2, A.C,Ammeter 0-5 Amp.
3. A.C. Voltmeter: 0-230 volts 2Nos.
‘THEORY:
This theorem states that —
‘In an active network of impedances maximum power is transferred to the load
when the load impedance equals the complex conjugate of an equivalent source
impedance of the network as viewed from the terminals of the load.”
Consider the network shown in the fig.a
8
Let Zeq is the equivalent impedance of the network as viewed from the terminals
AB replacing all the independent sources by their internal impedances as shown in
figbLet this Zeq = RAjX
Then the maximum power is transferred to the lond if Z.is complex conjugate of
20q
Mathematically 21, = Zeq®
So 2 RX
Thus for maximum power transfer 1 the load , the resistance of load and
resistance part of Zeq must be same while the reactance of load and and Zeq must
ume in magnitude but of opposite in sign . So if Zeq reactance is induct
must be eapacitive and vice versa,
PROCEDURE:
1. Connect the circuit as shown in fig. 1
2. Apply the source voltage and observe the value of current and load
voltage.
Remove the connections and measure the value of load resistance,
