Broastcast messages are blocked by an IP router.

The BBMD sends broadcast messages as dedicated


messages to other BBMD’s in different IP-subnet(s).
The receiving BBMD then re-broadcasts the message in it’s
subnet.

There are different devices serving as BBMD…


• Honeywell Bacnet controllers configured as BBMD
• PC with BACSTAC serving as BBMD (as used by EBI)
• Dedicated BBMD device.

Workaround to avoid BBMD usage:


Put all devices in a common V-LAN (same Broadcast
Domain)
