2. A 500 µC charge is at the centre of a square of side 10 cm. Find
the work done in moving a charge of 10 µC between two diagonally opposite points on the square?
3. A hollow metal sphere of radius 5 cm is charged such that the
potential on its surface is 10 V. What is the potential at the centre of the sphere? 4. Draw a plot showing the variation of electric field (E) and electric potential(V) with distance r due to a point charge Q.
5. What is common potential ? Derive the expression for energy loss
when an charged capacitor is connected with an uncharged capacitor . 6. A charge −6μC is placed at the centre B of a semicircle of radius 5 cm , as shown in the figure. An equal and opposite charge is placed at point D at a distance of 10 cm from B . A charge +5μC is moved from point ' C ' to point ' A ' along the circumference. Calculate the work done on the charge. 21. The electric field inside a parallel plate capacitor is E. Find the amount of work done in moving a charge a over a closed rectangular loop abcda.

two point charges q1 and q2 located at r1 and r2, respectively in an external electric field E . 23. The given graph shows the variation of charge q versus potential difference V for two capacitors C₁ and C2. Both the capacitors have same plate separation but plate a C₂ is greater than that C₁. Which line (A or B) corresponds to C₁ and why? 24. The space between the plates of a parallel plate capacitor is completely filled in two ways. In the first case, it is filled with a slab of dielectric constant K . In the second case, it is filled with two slabs of equal thickness and dielectric constants K1 and K2 respectively as shown in the figure. The capacitance of the capacitor is same in the two cases. Obtain the relationship between K,K1 and K2 . 25. Two slabs of dielectric constants 2K and K fill the space between the plates of a parallel plate capacitor of plate area A and plate separation d as shown in figure. Find an expression for capacitance of the system. 26. A parallel plate capacitor is charged by a battery. After sometime the battery is disconnected and a dielectric slab with its thickness equal to the plate separation is inserted between the plates. How will (i) the capacitance of the capacitor, (ii) electric field between the plates and (iii) the energy stored in the capacitor be affected?
27. In a parallel plate capacitor with air between the plates,
each plate has an area of 6×10-3 m2 and the separation between the plates is 3 mm . (i) Calculate the capacitance of the capacitor. (ii) If the capacitor is connected to 100 V supply. what would be the charge on each plate? (iii) How would charge on the plate be affected, if a 3 mm thick mica sheet of K=6 is inserled between the plates while the voltage supply remains connected? 28. Two identical parallel plate capacitors A and B are connected to a battery of V volts with the switch S is closed. The switch is now opened and the free space between the plates of the capacitors is filled with a dielectric of dielectric constant K. Find the ratio of the total electrostatic enery stored in both capacitors before and after the introduction of the dielectric. 29. In the following arrangement of capacitors, the energy stored in the 6 μF capacitor is E. Find the value of the following: (i) Energy stored in 12 μF capacitor. (ii) Energy stored in 3 μF capacitor. (iii) Total energy drawn from the battery. 30. Two identical capacitors of 12 pF each are connected in series across a battery of 50 V. How much electrostatic energy is stored in the combination? If these were connected in parallel across the same battery, how much energy will be stored in the combination now? Also find the charge drawn from the battery in each case. 31. In the circuit shown in the figure, the charge on the capacitor of 4μ F is 16μC. Calculate the energy stored in the capacitor of 12μ F capacitance?
