Scenario
You work as a technologist in a factory for PCB production. there are two production lines
Production Line #1:
a) PCBs move on a conveyor belt through a production line
b) An optical sensor determines if each PCB is "healthy" (1) or "faulty" (0)
c) After testing, PCBs move through 8 testing stations before reaching the sorting
mechanism
d) Healthy PCB goes to the shipment mechanism, and the faulty PCB goes to the
repair station.
e) The conveyor of the production line moves with a DC motor in one direction; there
are two sensors at the start position of the production line to determine the existence
of the PCB and its type.
f) The conveyor has a pulse encoder that detects the movement of each PCB
g) The system contains a start push button and a stop push button.
Production Line #2:
a) Metal parts enter the production line.
b) Inductive sensor determines whether they are ferrous (1) or non-ferrous (0)
c) After testing, PCBs move through 8 testing stations before reaching the sorting
mechanism
d) Ferrous material goes to the metal mechanism, and the nonferrous material goes to
the non-metal station
e) The conveyor of the production line moves with a DC motor in one direction; there
are two sensors at the start position of the production line to determine the existence
of the metal and its type.
f) The conveyor has a pulse encoder that detects the movement of each metal part.
g) The system contains a start push button and a stop push button.
❖ The factory contains two transportation lines, which contain the following:
(b1 start position, b2 end position, x5 pulse encoder, x6 start switch, M1 right way motor,
and M2 left way motor),
You need to deal with only one transportation line according to your assessor's selection:
a) - X6 moves the motor forward incrementally at 3 stages if there is no cart on the
line: stage 1 is 100% of the full speed for 3 seconds, stage 2 is 70% of the full speed
for 3 seconds, and stage 3 is 30% of the full speed for 3 seconds, then stops.
- If the cart is in the start position, the motor will move forward and backward at
80% of its full speed. The operation is contentious; press x5 to stop the system
and reset the values.
b) - X6 moves the motor forward incrementally at 3 stages if there is no cart on the
line: stage 1 is 90% of the full speed for 3 seconds, stage 2 is 80% of the full speed
for 5 seconds, and stage 3 is 40% of the full speed for 3 seconds, then stops.
- If the cart is in the start position, the motor will move forward and backward at
70% of its full speed. The operation is contentious; press x5 to stop the system
and reset the values.

Task No.01
1) You are required to use the shift register function correctly to design a ladder
diagram that controls only one production line (line # 1 or line #2)
2) Implement your bottle filling program and interface the required input and output
devices to your PLC device.

Task No.02
1) You are required to use Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) function correctly to
design a ladder diagram that control one transportation line only as described in
the scenario.
2) Test the configurated PWM in your program to ensure correct operation.
