Northern Drain Design Report Comments(2)(1)

The Northern Drain Design Report includes comments from CHEC regarding the need to specify all parameters without referencing the stormwater report. It emphasizes that SLPA is responsible for plot to manhole connections, while CHEC will handle the main drain's design and construction. Additionally, the report highlights challenges posed by existing core-locs on construction and requests careful consideration of as-built drawings to propose an effective layout for the SLPA drain.

Northern Drain Design

Report CHEC comments

- Mention all the parameters in this report again instead of referring to the storm water report.

-What is the source for the catchment areas for SLPA side and CPCDP side? Please attach any supporting
documents or reports
Only the plot to manholes connections are to be done by SLPA. The design and construction of the main
SLPA drain should be done by CHEC. Therefore, UCD should design and clearly indicate the path and
levels.

- SLPA has given as built drawings for their core-locs. Based on those drawings UCD should lay out
the SLPA drain considering
o Minimum disturbance and minimum removal of existing core-locs

Furthermore, as discussed during the joint site visit with CECB, CPCC, CHEC and UCD on 4 th April 2025,
the following were pointed out;

“Impact of Core Locs on Construction

o The presence of core locs introduces construction challenges, as drains or

channels cannot be laid directly on them. The following measures may be
necessary:
 Removal of core-locs, which may involve significant work;
 Rerouting to find a path that minimizes interference with existing core
locs; or
 Providing a suitable bedding layer above the core-locs to support the
drain structure.”

Therefore, you are requested to pay due attention to the as built drawings of core-locs and propose a
suitable and practicable layout and depth for the SLPA drain.
