A) Installation of IBM Installation Manager 1.

Step 1: Extract downloaded file for installation.

Step 2: Start the installation using install.exe

Step 3: Follow below steps in screenshot to complete installation.

Step 4: Accept the license Agreement.


Step 5: Verify the default path to continue the installation.

Step 6: Final step, click to install.

Steps 7: Installation in progress


Step 8: Complete the installation and restart the installation manager to start UI

B) Installation of IBM WebSphere 8.5.5

Step 1 : Download WAS 8.5.5 installation form below link , and extract 3 zip files to a single
folder

(Part number CIK1QML, CIK1RML, CIK1SML)

Step 2: Extracted files, Note down the path for “repository.config”

Step 3: Launch Installation manager for Installation


Go to default IM installation path C:\Program Files\IBM\Installation
Manager\eclipse click on “launcher” to launch IM.
Step 4: Setup IM to attach “repository.config” form WAS installation media.
From IM , click on File – Preferences

Step 5: Under Preferences click on “Add Repository” Button

Step 6: Browse the path and attach the “repository.config” file to IM


Step 7: repository.config file attached to repositories
Use button “Test connection” to tests the path is ok and its connected.
Untick Option “Search service repositories during installation and updates” to avoid
the installation manager to search the file from online, because its usually take long time to
complete or end up with an error.
Click Apply and click ok to proceed further.

Step 8: It will come back to Installation Manager UI , click on Install option to start the
installation.

Step 9: Select Installation packages manually from check box and next to proceed.
Step 10: Accept the license agreement and click on next.

Step 11: Click next to continue

Step 12: Reconfirm the installation path.


Step 13: Select next to proceed further.

Step 14: Select the default options and next to continue.

Step 15: Click on install to start the installation.


Step 16: Installation is in progress.

Step 17: Installation complete. Click on Finish

C) WAS Profile creation and starting services.


Step 1: Launch Profile management tool to create new profile.
Step 2: Select the default environment and click on next .

Step 3: Select Typical profile creation and click next.

Step 4: Untick “Enable administrative security” and click on next. This will enable password
less login to administrative console with user Admin, you can set password if you need.
Step 5: Note the details and click create the profile.

Step 6: Profile creation in progress.

Step 7: Profile creation completed successfully.


Step 8: Start Server: Click on start server.

n Server started successfully


D) Launching WebSphere Administrator Console and WAR
file Deployment.
Step 1: Go to web browser and type URL http://localhost:9060/ibm/console use non
secure port 9060 and local host in URL to check it from local machine. you can use IP
address or hostname in place of localhost.

Step 2: Use default login “Admin” to login to administrative console.

Step 3: Deploying a WAR file.


Click on Applications – New Application- New Enterprise Application.
Step 4: It will give path to new application under that select the “Local file system” were we
have file “IDSWebApp.war” store locally. Click to open to attach the war file.
à Note: IDSWebApp.war file you will get from SDS 6.4 installation linux machine from path /opt/ibm/ldap/V6.4/idstools – File name IDSWebApp.war. Copy file from there

n WAR file attached and click on next to continue.

Step 5: Click option fast path and click next.


Step 6: Click next to keep the default options.

Step 7: Select Module “IBM Tivoli Directory Server Web Application v2.0” click on next.

Step 8: Select web module “IBM Tivoli Directory Server Web Application v2.0” and click
next.
Step 9: Under Context Root add “/IDSWebApp” and click next.

Step 10: Verify all options and click on finish.

Step 11: WAR file installation is in progress. Click save to save the configuration after
installation complete.
Step 12: Click on Application types - WebSphere enterprise applications

Step 13: Select “IDSWebApp_war” and click on start.

n Server started successfully.

Step 14: Start Web Administration Tool: To access Web Administration Tool, open a
browser and enter the following address: using secure port. 9443:
https://localhost:9443/IDSWebApp
Step 15: Login to “IBM Security Directory Server Web Administration Tool” using below user
ID and password .
User ID : superadmin
Password: secret

Step 16: We have to add SDS server details under “Manage Console Servers “ options.
For our case we are using Linux server 9.30.92.253.

n Click on Add

n Fill details and port on Add server and click on OK


Step 17: Now log off and login with LDAP server . Login using SDS user ID and password
used in linux while configuring with SDS , normaly its cn= root
This user ID and password will be directory server Admin .

n Logged in with cn=root , directory server admin user ID and password

Step 18: To view the added entry


Select Directory management – Manage entry’s - dc=company,dc=com

n Added entry’s is visible

Step 19: Click the entry’s to view its properties , use can set password etc form properties
Step 20: How to login with user cn=Neeraj
Log out from console . use the user name with dn name that is
User name : cn=neeraj,DC=Company,DC=com
Password : <Password you set on LDAP screen>
