Man is the Architect of His Own Fortune

Had Thomas Edison waived off struggle after making three or four vain attempts in inventing the

electric bulb, presuming that this invention was not in his fate, the world would have been different. It

was his unshakable resolve which won him success and fame and revolutionized human lives. This

shows that man is not a helpless creature before his fate; rather, he can alter his destiny in both

good and bad ways. No doubt, some forces beyond human control impact life, but fate is not solely

their outcome. It is a complex interplay between external circumstances and human free will. One's

thoughts, choices, and actions largely influence the course of events in life. Human free will makes

man accountable before law in this world and earns him heaven or hell in the next.

Fate is often believed to be a predetermined course of events beyond human control. Some think

fate plays the most significant role in shaping life and feel they cannot alter what they are destined

to meet. Others believe fate plays a lesser role, as it is the product of a complex interaction between

free will and uncontrollable external forces. Some even deny the existence of fate, believing that

human choices alone shape life. Thus, opinions vary regarding fate's role in human life.

However, human wisdom and experience reveal that man, not fate, is the architect of his own

fortune. If man were solely at the mercy of fate, he would not have been blessed with cognition to

resolve issues nor held accountable for his deeds. Man's free will means he can make choices not

predetermined by external forces, and accountability means he must bear the consequences of

these choices. Laws exist to punish those who violate them deliberately, and man is answerable to

God as well.

Moreover, human life is full of challenges, but human skills and resilience can overcome these

problems. The Holy Quran states that Allah does not burden any soul beyond its capacity. Man's

intelligence and the resources at his disposal enable him to confront adversities. Rather than
surrendering to fate, one should rely on these capabilities and remain determined.

In conclusion, through his choices, actions, and willpower, man shapes his destiny. The idea that

the future is fixed and unchangeable is misleading. Life rewards those who strive and punishes

those who give up. God helps those who help themselves.
