BST255 (BUILDING SURVEYING AND PRACTICE II)
ASSIGNMENT 2 (4 MEMBERS)

A Building Condition Assessment (BCA) is a systematic inspection, review, and report. BCA
has become more important in Malaysia's built environment and asset management. The BCA
starts with a detailed inspection of the buildings:
• The structural components of a building include walls, floors, roofs, windows, and
• Systems, including plumbing, HVAC, and
• Interior components, including finishes and fixtures
• Exterior components, including finishes and fixtures

a) Surau OR Public Library (of adequate size): Prior to continue, kindly verify with your lecturer.

Your group has been assigned to carry out a thorough inspection and prepare a building
condition survey report for one (1) Surau OR (1) Public Library, which is for community
benefit within your area. You can find any Surau OR Public Library that you have permission
to access. The students should prepare a formal letter addressed to the relevant authority
requesting permission to conduct an inspection of either the Surau OR the Public Library. The
letter must include details such as the purpose of the inspection, the proposed schedule, and
any necessary supporting information to justify the request letter.
To accomplish the assignment, you are required to refer to the latest version of the Code of
Practice for Building Inspection Reports (CP BS101) as your main guide. Your group needs to
prepare a condition survey report according to the standard format. Your group needs to
conduct a measured survey to produce a building plan.

Submission requirement:
1. It is necessary to adhere to the most recent edition of CPBS 101: Code of Practice for
Building Inspection Report, published by the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia.
(RISM).
2. Sign the inspection declaration and attach it to the front page.
3. Please attach the inspection checklist as an appendix to the report.
You must write the report in English.
Submission reports are printed and bound. A4-size paper. The presentation will use glossy A1
paper and a single foam board.
Assignment weightage%: BCA Report: 25%
The deadline for submitting the report and presentation is Week 14, and we will not accept late
submissions.
