First Day of Class

A hush before the morning bell,

Fresh pages wait, no tales to tell.
New faces glance with nervous grace,
Each searching for a friendly face.

Backpacks heavy, hearts unsure,

Yet something bright, a hope so pure—
A promise wrapped in chalk and light,
Of questions asked and minds made bright.

The teacher’s smile, a guiding spark,

Begins to write upon the dark—
Not just the board, but minds and dreams,
With whispered facts and hopeful schemes.

The clock moves slow, yet races fast,

As friendships form and shadows pass.
A sharpened pencil, a subtle grin,
A signal that the year begins.

So here we stand, both shy and bold,

With brand new stories yet untold.
The first of days, the start of more,
A quiet step through learning’s door.
