Warm-up game: “Qu’est-ce que c’est ?” – Teacher holds up real objects or flashcards;
students guess the item in English, then teacher gives the French name.
Hook: Play a short, energetic video/song introducing classroom objects and commands in
French. Ask students if they recognized any words.
Present vocabulary for classroom objects and commands using visual aids (flashcards,
slides, realia).
Model pronunciation and have students repeat.
Introduce the concept of gender: “un” vs “une” for masculine/feminine items.
Introduce and model classroom commands using Total Physical Response (TPR): say the
command and demonstrate it physically.
Speaking Practice: In groups of 3, students role-play a teacher and two students using
simple phrases like:
o Bonjour! Ouvrez vos cahiers. Prenez un stylo. Écrivez!
Writing Task: Students draw 4 classroom items and label them in French. Then write 2–
3 classroom commands.
Challenge Extension: Write simple sentences using definite articles (e.g., C’est le livre.
Voici la gomme.)
5. Evaluation (10 min)
Mini Quiz: Match the French word to the picture; translate commands.
Exit Ticket: Each student says one classroom object and one classroom command before
leaving.
Optional Homework: Take a photo of your own schoolbag, label 5 items in French.
Differentiation
Support: Use visuals and gestures for EAL or lower-level learners.
Extension: Add adjectives (e.g. un grand livre, une petite trousse) or use full sentences.
Assessment for Learning: Monitor group work, listen during games, collect written
tasks.
