EXCEL PRACTICES

All practices will be develop in the same Excel´s book. The title must include the
student's name. Each exercise will be done on a different sheet of the student's book.

Exercise 1. Make a spreadsheet like the one shown below for the introduction of the
grades of 10 students for each of the 5 modules of an Advanced Office Automation
course.
Exercise 2. Make a spreadsheet for the analysis of the sales of a clothing store. The
following table is available with some of the products, the purchase price of these by
the store and the number of sales made.

In the increment column, enter the following data in order to make the corresponding
calculations.
Exercise 3. Copy a table with the following structure and data into an Excel
spreadsheet:

Do the following:

- Final price of each product.

- Subtotal
- VAT
- Subtotal + IVA
- Discounted Amount (Subtotal x Discount)
- TOTAL TO BE PAID
Exercise 4. Make a spreadsheet for the analysis of the sales of the five "star" products
of an appliance store during a year.

Spreadsheet features:

Television.

- Comment on each product with its description (Model, brand, price,...).

- The quantity sold of each product may not be less than 0 units.

- We must be able to enter the number of units sold for each of these products in
each month of the year.

- The title of the table should be reflected in the first row: SALES OF HOUSEHOLD
APPLIANCES 2011.

- Take care of the design: cell formatting, text attributes,...

As for the format:

- If the number of units sold entered is less than 10, the text should appear in red.

- If it is greater than 100, place the text in blue.

- Calculate total sales per month and per product.

The Worksheet must be protected except for the data entry cells.
Exercise 5. Make a spreadsheet for the analysis of sales made by a small business over
five months.

The following table is available with the sales made by the company, the fixed expenses,
the percentage of commissions received by the salespeople and the percentage of taxes
from monthly sales.

Enter the formulas needed to calculate:

- Commissions paid in the month of January from the % of Commissions.

- Taxes paid in the month of January taking into account the % for Taxes.
- The Net Total for the month of January.
- Copy these formulas to get the results for the other months.
- Calculate in the Total column the sum of the Sales, Commissions, Taxes and
Profits of the five months.

Spreadsheet features:

- Change the format of the cells so that the thousands separator and the euro
symbol appear where necessary.
- Modify the format of the text to highlight the cells in the following cases: the
Commissions in the event that it exceeds €200, the Taxes in the event that it
exceeds €700 and the Net Total when it is greater than €3000.
Exercise 6. Prepare a spreadsheet for the analysis of the subsidies received for the
teaching of four courses in a study center.

The following table is available with the number of students, the number of hours, the
subsidy received per hour/student and the distribution of this subsidy in terms of
administration, facilities, material and teaching staff.

Open the Microsoft Excel program and make a table like the one shown in the figure
with the following characteristics:

Take care of the design:

- Change the format of the cells so that the thousands separator and the euro
symbol appear where necessary.
- Modify the formatting of cells: borders, padding, font properties,...

Data Validation:

- In the Number of Students and Hours columns, only integers greater than zero
can be entered.

Format:

- Modify the format of the text for any figure over €1000 in the columns of
Administration, Facilities, Teaching staff and Material.

Enter the formulas needed to calculate:

- The subsidy received for each of the courses taking into account the number of
students and the number of hours.
- The distribution of this subsidy in terms of administration, facilities, material and
teaching staff, taking into account the percentage provided.
- The totals for all columns.
Exercise 7. From the spreadsheet perform the following calculations using functions:

- The average grade (statistical function) of each student and each module.
- The average grade of the class.
- The maximum and minimum grade (statistical functions) of each module.
- In the PASS? uses the SI logic function to indicate whether the student's average
grade is equal to or greater than 5.
- In the HIGHLIGHTS column, use the SI logic function to indicate if the student's
average grade is higher than the class average.
Exercise 8. On a new sheet of paper, enter the following information. It is important
to respect the structure and format.

Once the basic information has been entered, the following formulas must be entered:

- The total hours for each worker are the sum of the normal hours plus overtime.

- If the total total hours exceed 165, the worker will receive an incentive of €200,
otherwise, the incentive will be €0.

- Calculate the Salary knowing that normal hours are paid at €10 and overtime at
€15.

- Enter the functions needed to calculate the total, maximum, minimum, and
average for each of the columns.
Exercise 9. From this spreadsheet make graphs similar to the following:
