Setting up the class:

- The teacher should log into the system via the link shared by Operations Executive 5 minutes before starting
time.
- The Operation team should:

+ Upload PDF file of lecture slide: ​C3 - LC1 (1) - Let’s get up!
+ Open Youtube tabs for song at slide ​No.2​ and paste the Youtube link,
+ Open Youtube for conversation videos at slide ​No.3, 11​ and paste the Youtube link
+ Open Youtube Link at slide No. and paste the Youtube link
+ Open a whiteboard and upload Kani image, carrot images in order to reward Kani. Teachers can save
and upload directly from your computer
General notes:

- Speed: For this level, speed is really important. Speed will be decided based on student age, the younger the
slower. Speed will also depend on students’ characteristics.
- TPR: Using TPR is really important to motivate the student and using puppets, flashcards as required will help to
motivate the student.
- Pronunciation: For ESL student, correcting pronunciation is really important and teachers should correct during
the class.
- The teacher should appraise the student or correct positively frequently.
- If the student cannot answer, the teacher can mouth then say out loud to help.
- If the student cannot concentrate, the teacher can use TPR.

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR PHONICS SLIDES: Please remember that spelling and phonics are different. The letter
A is spelled EI, but its phoneme is /a/. To spell the word ‘cat’, we say kei-ei-tee, but to sound out ‘cat’, we say
/k/-/a/-/t/. Spelling helps students write, while phonics helps students read. We are teaching phonics here.

!!! Please make sure that the student tool mode is off during class. It should be granted for students ​above 8
years old​ ​only when solving a quiz. For writing activities, please ask the student to write on a sheet of paper or
a board.

Evaluate student performance after class (for teachers): ​ Please spare five minutes to fill in the performance
evaluation for the student via Kynaforkids Teacher’s App. This is ​compulsory​ ​in order to finish the class. Please be
noticed that the form should be filled in for each class within 24 hours.

Time Teaching techniques & TPR
Slide 0.5 1. Teacher introduces himself or herself and asks for student's name
No.1 - Teacher asks "What is your name?" and helps the student to reply.
- Teacher exposes the student to How are you?

2. Teacher introduces the rewards system


- Switch to the whiteboard with the Kani image.
- Teacher says: "When you do a great job (point to the student and thumb up), the rabbit gets a
carrot".
Slide 1.5 Teacher says: "Let's start our lesson today with one interesting song"

pause after each sentence and let student sing along.

Teacher should move the upper body along the song and encourage student to follow.

When student is watching, do not act anything to avoid distraction. If student doesn't stay
focused, teacher can repeat the speech in the video in order to catch student's attention.
Slide 2 Teacher underlines each picture, reads the phrases and asks student to repeat.

Slide 2 Teacher asks student to read aloud the sentences and fill in the blanks with correct words.

Slide 2 Teacher underlines the word "this" and asks: "How do you pronounce/ say this word?" =.>

Slide No.10 4 Teacher says: "Now, you read the text aloud and use the given words here (underline the given
words) to fill in the blanks.

Teacher lets student read aloud and stops at each blank to fill in the correct words. Teacher
gives feedback and corrections.

Slide No.11 3 Teacher says: "Listen to the story and conversations and fill in the blanks."
Teacher plays the audio for the first time, then, asks student to fill in the blanks with given
words, skips the sentence that student cannot answer or give wrong answers.

Teacher plays the audio for the second time and asks student to listen carefully to complete the
task.

Note: If student has all the correct answers after the first time of listening=> no need to replay
the audio.

Scripts:

Charlie has to go to school every Monday morning. It’s seven o’clock now but he is still
sleeping. Mum is making some sandwiches for family’s breakfast in the kitchen.

Charlie: What time is it, grandma?
Grandma: It’s seven o’clock now.
Charlie: Oh, no. I have Math lessons at 8 o'clock this morning.
Grandma: So hurry up! Take a shower, then brush your teeth and wash your face!
