Bacteria “Wanted” Poster

Project Description:
Research one bacterial pathogen and create a “Wanted” Poster for your organism.

Procedure:
You will have one class period to research your assigned pathogen and one class period to
create your poster. Any additional time needed for research or production of the poster
is to be done on your own time.

Include:
1) Mug shot: Microscopic photograph of the bacteria.

2) Description: Shape, size, oxygen requirements, optimal temperature and pH, etc.

3) Organism’s M.O.: How it attacks and spreads to other humans.

4) Victims: Most common victims the pathogen preys upon.

5) Hide out of the culprit: Where it is most likely to be found.

6) Injury: Most common injury/harm done to it’s victim(s).

7) Is it considered “armed and dangerous”? : Rate the degree of damage and number

of victims.

8) Defense: Most effective weapons against the organism.

9) Any other identifying characteristics: Any other facts that would help identify

the pathogen.

Evaluation:
 All information must be included (1-9) in visually separate sections.
 Information must be in your own words.
 You should have clear, concise summaries for each section, not full paragraphs.
Remember, it’s a “Wanted” Poster.
 Create a bibliography and include it with your poster.
 You should use no less than three sources of information that are reputable.
 Write scientific names correctly.
 Make sure your poster is neat and easy to read. Feel free to type the information
and/or utilize your technology tool(s) of choice.
