SCIENCE
General instructions:
1. Choose any one project from the given.
2. Art integrated activity and Assignments are compulsory for all.

3
Project 1: You are going to visit any of your favourite place this summer vacation. Which means
of transport you would like to prefer to go and for what reason? Travelled distance through different
means will be different. Write distance travelled by you from Noida to that place? Note time taken
by you to reach there and calculate average speed of your journey. Mention in detail about all the
halts taken by you in your journey.

Project 2: Write report on any one of the following topics:

a) Fractional distillation
b) Chromatography
c) Separation funnel
d) Distillation
(Note: Use A4 sheet and also draw/paste appropriate diagram)

Project 3: Create a model of a eukaryotic cell using any material of your choice. In your model be
sure to include all the organelles appropriate to your cell (either plant or animal). Once complete,
take multiple photographs of your model from all angles. Include these images in a document that
also contains the following in table format:
Page 1. A detailed key/legend that matches the model

Page 2. Each organelle or part with its basic function

Page 3. A disease or disorder that is associated with the malfunction of each cellular
component
Page 4. How this organelle is visualized microscopically
Page 6. Bibliography
 Note for the disease information, you can list a disease in either animals or plants, regardless
of what type of cell you are modelling. In other words, it‘s okay to discuss a ―human‖ disease
even if you are making a plant model, provided the organelle is present in both types of cells.
 Some suggestions for 3D models include Legos, or standard Styrofoam base with
appropriate pieces attached. You can use various materials such as clay, plaster of paris,
soft-stone, wood (blocks, twigs and branches, roots, etc.), metal scraps, plastic sheets,
bamboo, wire thread, papers and cardboards and other throw-away available materials for
making models.
Project 4: “HEALTH INNOVATION CHALLENGE”
Are you ready to think of some innovative solutions for health challenges in your society?
The following topics on Health and Diseases are included in the syllabus to reinforce
understanding without adding to summative assessments. Relevant NCERT textual material
and link is enclosed for reference.
Health and Diseases: Health and its failure. Infectious and Non-infectious diseases, their
causes and manifestation. Diseases caused by microbes (Virus, Bacteria and Protozoans) and
their prevention; Principles of treatment and prevention. Pulse Polio programmes.

populations and addressing health disparities.
4. Public Health: Addressing issues like air pollution, obesity, and infectious diseases through
preventative measures and interventions.
5. Medical Technology: Developing new clinical devices, tools, sensors, and wearables.

fast must the bus travel the next 30 km so as to have average speed of 40 kmh -1 for the entire
trip?
2. A driver takes 0.20 seconds to apply the brakes. If he is driving car at a speed of 54 kmh-1 and
the brakes cause a deceleration of 6.0 ms-2. Find the distance travelled by the car after he sees
the need to put the brakes.
