Sweden Study Visa Guide for Pakistani


Students

How to Apply
• All international students apply through the centralized portal:

www.universityadmissions.se

• You can apply to up to 4 programs in one application.


• Application fee: 900 SEK (around 23,000 PKR)
• Only one fee for all 4 choices.

Public Universities (Affordable & Top Ranked)


• Lund University – September deadline: mid-January
• Uppsala University – September deadline: mid-January
• Linköping University – September deadline: mid-January
• Linnaeus University – September deadline: mid-January
• Dalarna University – September deadline: mid-January
• University of Skövde – September deadline: mid-January
• Örebro University – September deadline: mid-January
• Karlstad University – September deadline: mid-January

Most of these offer English-taught Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. February intake is not
available for most universities.
Tuition Fees (Average)
• Bachelor’s & Master’s degrees: 80,000 to 150,000 SEK per year

(Approx. 2.1 to 4 million PKR per year)

• Some universities offer partial scholarships or tuition waivers

Scholarships for Pakistani Students


• Swedish Institute Scholarships (for Master’s only) – full tuition + living costs
• University-specific scholarships – up to 50–100% fee reduction
• Apply for scholarships after submitting your admission application

Documents Required for Admission


• Passport
• Matric and Intermediate certificate + transcript (for Bachelor’s)
• Bachelor’s degree + transcript (for Master’s)
• English proficiency (IELTS academic preferred, min. 6.5 overall)
• Statement of Purpose or Motivation Letter
• CV (for Master’s)
• Letters of recommendation (for Master’s)
• Work experience letter (optional but useful)
• Proof of application fee payment

Legalisation of Documents

All academic and official documents must be properly attested:

1. IBCC Attestation – for Matric and Inter certificates


2. HEC Attestation – for Bachelor’s and above
3. MOFA Attestation – required after IBCC/HEC

You do not need to legalise documents from the Swedish Embassy. Just upload scanned copies
of attested documents to the admission portal.

Visa Process (Residence Permit for Studies)

Once accepted and tuition fee is paid, apply for the Swedish Residence Permit for Studies:

• Choose “Apply for residence permit for studies”

Visa (Residence Permit) Requirements


• Valid passport
• Admission letter from a Swedish university
• Proof of full or first installment tuition fee payment
• Bank statement showing minimum SEK 10,314/month for living expenses

(Around 125,000 PKR/month, so for 12 months: SEK 123,768 ≈ 1.5–1.6 million PKR)

• Proof of accommodation (optional but recommended)


• Travel health insurance
• Academic documents (upload attested versions)
• Application fee: 1,500 SEK (~38,000 PKR)

How to Show Financial Proof


• Provide a personal bank account statement (your own name only)
• The amount must cover one full year of living costs
• Statement must be recent (last 1–2 months)
• Fixed deposits are not preferred unless easily liquidatable

Visa Interview
• No in-person interview in most cases
• After online submission, you’ll be invited to submit biometrics at the Swedish Embassy
in Islamabad
• You will receive a residence permit card by mail or pick-up

Visa Processing Time


• Average: 2 to 3 months
• Start application process immediately after receiving admission
• Apply before June for September intake

Part-Time Work Rules


• Students can work unlimited hours during studies
• However, studies must remain the main purpose
• Post-study, you can extend your permit for 12 months to look for work

Important Deadlines
• Admission applications: Mid-October to Mid-January
• Document submission: February
• Admission results: March-April
• Tuition fee payment: April-May
• Visa application: May-June
• Semester begins: Late August or early September

Key Tips
• IELTS is required; Medium of Instruction is not accepted for visa
• Always apply early — do not wait till the last date
• Ensure your bank statement is strong and recent
• You must show personal financial support (parent or sponsor accounts are not accepted)
• Only apply through official portals — avoid agents unless necessary
