Artificial Reefs Vs Artificial Reef
In addition to education and pre dive briefings on threats to marine life, including coral reefs;
artificial reefs (ARs) offer an alternative to relieve the carrying capacity (number of divers a reef or
structure can support) of natural reefs and structures. Artificial reefs are created to provide habitat
for marine life, and consist of a variety structures, sunken boats, planes, or man made for example,
but these structures reduce pressure on natural coral reefsystems, when used as a dive site,
particularly for new, or poorly skilled divers that are still perfecting their buoyancy skills. Artificial
reefs are created in sand beds where fin kicks, or buoyancy issues, are less likely to damage coral, or
stir up sedimentation that covers coral,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evidently, the challenge is creating an attractive artificial reef, with an abundance of fish. This
creates an opportunity for alternate dive programs that are developed specifically to enhance the
attractiveness, and marine life populations. Alternative dive programs can recruit experienced
divers for artificial reef development, citizen science projects, fish population studies, or
developed with the feedback of experienced divers, ensuring their interest. Additionally, for new
and novice divers, dive programs can be developed to: (1) transfer all introductory courses and in
training dives to artificial reef sites, (2) reinforce the environmental education of divers through the
provision of educational materials positioned on artificial reefs, and (3) use more in depth
conservation education dive briefings (Kirkbride Smith, Wheeler, and Johnson 9). To illustrate, let
us consider a dive in which two experienced divers, one of which being the author, are seeking
advanced scuba certifications. This certification takes place within 50 yards of dive operation and
requires two consecutive dives, the first of which exhausts the divers air supplies while the second
dive leaves thirty minutes of air. This presents an opportunity, in which the instructor presents an
artificial reef he has established with a tire, rocks,
The Second Seminole War
The events leading up to the Second Seminole War remain some of the most perverse and
contentious proceedings to have occurred in American history. Between 1819, the ending of the
First Seminole War, and 1835, the beginning of the Second, the United States government did
everything within its power to not only remove the Natives Americans from its borders, but did so
through seditious and deceptive legislature. It was during this time that the expansion of the power
of the president and a complete disregard for foreign affairs characterized the union and their
willingness to use extralegal means to achieve their desired goals. This era remains one of the
saddest affairs in American history, and provides insight into how the executive branch was able to
attain new power during the era of Jackson.
In order to understand the significance of the events preceding the Second Seminole War, one must
first examine the First Seminole War. Frustrated with Seminole protection of runaway slaves,
Andrew Jackson and more than three thousand men entered northern Florida in 1816 and began to
decimate Seminole populations. Despite most of these campaigns being unsanctioned by the United
States government and protested by the British and the Spanish, Jackson was received as a war hero
throughout the nation and protected from punitive measures. The refusal of the government to
punish Jackson for the injustices led to foreign hostilities with both Britain and Spain. The Adam

Why Do School Start Later
Do Schools Begin Too Early? Don t students just hate having to wake up early to go to school.
Why not get an extra hour of sleep? It s better for both kids and staff members. Not all schools
have a later start time. Students are going to tell about later start time. The students in Lake
Zurich Illinois would like to start school later. Their are many learning benefits, it will be safer,
and a student survey supports this idea. Therefore it would be safer if Lake Zurich community

learning benefits when students start school later. The research, conducted by a sleep expert with
Hasbro Children s Hospital in Providence, R.I., found that a delay in school start time of only 30
minutes was associated with significant improvements in adolescent alertness, mood and health( 1 ).

Lots of people get lots of sleep because they have a late start. A lack of sleep can have a negative
effect on physical health such as headaches, poor school performance, school, and drowsy
driving. ( 1 ) It is not safe if you don t get all the sleep you need. It may take longer for kids to go

Visual Aspects Of The Graphic Design
As a creative minded person, I enjoy viewing the world through all its visual aspects. Whether the
things I notice are inanimate objects or breathing beings, I take locations, mediums, and other minute
details into consideration when committing them to memory. I think as an up and coming media
artist it is important to utilize your surroundings with your creations. The details that I notice may
inspire me in my own personal works as well as those that I create for others. Everyday experiences
influence the style and techniques I chose to include or experiment within my works. The process of
semiotics is constantly in practice as I explore and study the world around me.
As for the few works that I have made regarding my major of graphic ... Show more content on

Though this project was created as an assignment for my making class, much of my own thought and
imagination went into it as the requirements and expectations were vague. Likewise, although this
piece is not graphic design nor digitally created, I feel that this is one my best works that utilized a
distinctive thought process and showcases my artistic style. (This is a photo of the project):

When first introduced to this project the only requirements addressed were that four objects with
one serving as a container were to be created and become a portrait of any person. The other
requirement was the one had to be constructed out of metal, other than that one could create anything
they felt was necessary. I chose Frida Kahlo as the subject of my portrait as she was and is an
iconic artist that I find very intriguing. I had already been aware of Kahlo and several of her
works before this specific assignment, her complicated history, and continual persistence served as
my inspiration source. I was inspired by Kahlo for this portrait since she has made several self
portraits within her lifetime and developed her unique personalities striving as an independent
female artist. I felt the need to utilize the opportunity to create an atypical piece in admiration of the
unique individual. The objects of the portrait are made up of a hand painted flower pot displaying
Frida s face in a traditional Mexican style, a handcrafted monkey, a

Cleveland Advertisement Analysis
On July 8th 2010, Lebron announced the world on national TV that he was leaving Cleveland.
Later that night, he told ESPN that he would be playing for the Miami Heat teaming up with
Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh (Scott, 2010). It was at this time where Lebron s image in the
media began to change. He went from the hometown boy beloved by his fans, to being a sell out .
The reactions from the local people were mostly negative, a Cleveland blog posts, The king
should never leave his throne, when you do, that means you are dethroned. He turned his back on
us (Scott, 2010) . The reactions did not stop there. Fans were seen wearing the jerseys with his
number cross out, or his name taped over with the word quitter, and would hold up signs say
Lebum. Cleveland s local paper, The Plain Dealer, front page shows Lebron walking away with the
word Gone and in small type with an arrow pointing at his hand reading, seven years in Cleveland,
no rings (Kavanagh, 2010). Three months after the announcement, Nike releases a commercial
starring Lebron repeatedly asking What Should I Do? . The ad features many short clips including,
his We Are All Witnesses banner falling to the ground, James speaking to... Show more content on

The Atlantic s writer, Chris Good, mentioned that Lebron s presence in Cleveland increased the
revenue of ticket sales, the city s bars, and restaurants. He states that each home game is estimated
about $3.7 million and over $150 million for the entire season (Good, 2011). Even though he
mentions that this may not 100 percent effect all of the cities revenues, he is confident that the cities
business will take a major hit. Good also mentions that Cleveland lost sources of pride, hope, and
inspiration. Lastly, the Cavaliers at the time had the most potential out of all Cleveland s
professional teams. That Lebron gave them the hope and something to look forward to. But instead,

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Gettysburg Address
In a time in which the United States was facing one of its greatest crises, the President at the time,
Abraham Lincoln, delivered a speech that became one of his most famous addresses of all time. His
speech carried two primary purposes; reunification and remembrance. The structure of the address
was to remind people of the past, get them to reflect on present events, and get them thinking about
the future. He filled his words with emotion, asking the people to take the sacrifices of brave men to
heart. Abraham Lincolns desire for the reunification of the country could not have been expressed
more clearly, and emotionally than during his Gettysburg Address. The Gettysburg Address was a
short piece of work that carried powerful words throughout its entire structure. In the beginning,
President Lincoln started his address with those ever famous words, Four score and seven years
ago... While these words are famous, it is the rest of the opening ...our fathers brought forth, upon
this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are
created equal (Lincoln) that carries the powerful message. He uses this opening to remind those in
attendance about the beginnings of their nation and their government. He then moves on to speak
about the present, speaking to the fact that the nation is currently at war with itself. Doing this stacks
on the first point, moving his audience to focus on the present issues. Finally Abraham Lincoln goes
Contribution Of Marxist Historiography
Every point in history is an undeniable reaction to the events of the past. Marxist historiographical
thinking provides a method by which the world can interpret past and current events in an attempt to
evaluate and predict future struggle and resolution. Throughout the centuries never has there been a
greater need for Marxist dialectical methodologies in examining the past events than that of the 21st
century; as ideological tensions rise due to the transvaluation that western societies go through as a
result of post modernist thinking and the rejection of 18th and 20th Century Enlightenment and
Modernist values respectively. In an attempt to understand the role of Marxist historiography in the
21st Century one must first understand the fundamentals of Marx s prepositions and their relation to
Postmodernist thinking. Marxist historiography stems from class consciousness which concerns
itself with the inequality and injustices associated with the presence of a hierarchical class system.*
It also proposes in a dialectical light that human action and reaction comes out of materialist
influences on the subject, which in turn shapes the material world. That being said, the relevance of
this historical viewpoint cannot be understood without first getting a firm grasp of Hegel s theory of
alienation; particularly the concept of Subject vs Object and the ideal state of the human person
being that of the absolute spirit where this dichotomy (Subject and Object) merges into one
