Transition Reflection Paper
When I was around twelve years old I was outside swimming having a blast just being a kid when
my mother comes outside to tell me that we need to go shopping. Thinking nothing about it, I get
out of the pool, dry off, and change, as we headed for the store, she told me we are out to buy bras
for me. Petrified, I told her I didn t want to go, but we had to because as she said I was starting to
develop. While at the store I was in a silent fit of anger and embarrassment, this can t be happening
is all I could think. In that moment I knew I hated being a girl and I didn t want to be a girl. I just
wanted to play with the boys and be one of them. As a matter of fact those feelings have yet to
leave me to this day. It wasn t until I was fifteen when I started struggling with who I was and what
genderI was, and seventeen when I confirmed for myself, and talked to a physiatrist about
transitioning to male. I am a transgendered man, henceforth I am only discussing the transition of
Female to Male, experiences that I have had, and what my transition may look like in the future.
Dissimilar to many medical disorders, gender dysphoria is not black and white, there are many
correct ways to transition that I am not including. I have gotten my information from websites and
PDFs including: Psychology Today, Medical News, dictionaries, and the World Professional
Association for TransgenderHealth (WPATH). Contrary to popular belief transgenderism is not the
diagnosis that a
Imperialism South Africa
The neoliberal policies, which South Africa has implemented after the end of the Apartheid era,
has lead to increased inequality, both on the national as well as the global level. This has led many
to argue that South Africa today faces a new kind of imperialism, one that is not so much based on
political subordination but rather on a new type of economic subordination through a so called
empire of capital . This idea, among others, falls under the broader theory of economic imperialism .
According to the proponents of Economic Imperialism, neoliberal policies are driven by the logic
of private accumilation of capital based on the exploitation of labour throughout the world, which
has in turn caused a world wide system of production and labour exploitation, with extreme levels of
inequality and a system of dependency relations as a result. It becomes quickly clear, when defining
economic imperialism, that it looks very unfavourably towards both the developed West and
neoliberalism. Whether this can be justified however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It therefore also remains questionable whether or not neoliberalism is such a negative development
at all. In the absence of alternative histories it is always easy to blame all the problems of the present
on certain political courses, while neglecting the good developments it has brought to the country.
Unfortunately, a thorough theoretical discussion on neoliberalism has been outside the scope of our
paper. But whether or not neoliberalism becomes to be seen in a more positive light is ultimately
dependent on the economic development of South Africa, something to which the future will provide
us an answer
A Mile In His Shoes Character Analysis
Elective 1 Movie
Lauren Czarnecki
Winthrop University Elective 1 Movie The film I decided to watch was, A Mile in His Shoes
which was directed by William Dear and screen wrote by Frank Nappi and Jason Koornick
(2011). This movie was very inspiring as an adult with Asperger s syndrome is the main character.
Asperger s syndrome is a type of autism that is more of a social disorder (Gargiulo, R. M. Bouck,
E, 2018). These individuals have trouble in social situations whether that is making friends or just
talking one on one with a family member. There are many characteristics that describe an individual
as having Asperger s syndrome. Most of these characteristics were displayed throughout the film
through the character Mickey Tussler. In this paper, I will discuss the signs and symptoms of
Asperger s syndrome through the eyes of Mickey, a professional minor league baseball player as well
as how he was treated by his parents, coach and teammates. I will lastly reflect on how I felt about
A Mile in His Shoes regarding their portrayal of Asperger s syndrome. Mickey grew up on a farm
helping his mom and dad raise and feed the animals. He did not have much of a social life as his
parents took him out of school as they felt he would not succeed in the general education program.
Mickey is working on his GED which is briefly mentioned in the movie, but is a big
accomplishment. Growing up, many social workers and school psychologists have come and gone,
Multicultural Society
Multicultural Society.
The retrospective view of human history shows that it has always been a moving and mixing of
peoples caused by different reasons. For centuries the intervention of cultures grew reciprocally. As a
result of this process people now have mixed cultures and many intercultural conflicts. The United
States is a great example of a pluralistic society made up of many different cultures and nationalities.
It is a nation that is composed of people who came here from around the world. In the 20th century,
after new immigration laws were enforced, two opposing trends became obvious: the one state that
America is multicultural; the other claims that America is monoculture.

As well as Reed, Schlesinger describes America as a nation made up of different cultures and
ethnicities. We have always been a multiethnic country , writes the author. He also traces back the
creation and evolution of the American culture, and estimates the present contradictory character of
it. Both authors speak in unison about the uniqueness of American culture. Schlesinger quotes the
French author of the 18th century who said: Here individuals of all nations are melted into a new
race of men. If Reed describes blurring of cultural styles in America as a cultural bouillabaisse ,
Schlesinger names it The melting pot . Moreover, Schlesinger admits the healthy consequences of
new immigrations laws. He is against racism and discrimination of minorities and salutes the
recognition of achievements of those groups, which were subordinated during the high noon of
Anglo dominance.
Nevertheless, the author is threatened by the fact that dividing the country along different cultures,
idolizing of ethnicities, and welcoming group separatism will lead to very bad consequences. Group
separatism crystallizes the differences, magnifies tensions, and intensifies hostilities. According to
Schlesinger, America has always been a country where many different cultures get along together
without any serious visible problems due to their assimilation to American culture, values, laws,
customs, and beliefs. Schlesinger conveys
The Major Battles of the Civil War Essay
The Major Battles of the Civil War
No other war seems to hold our focus like the Civil War. Scholars have chosen to make it their life
s work, authors have written reams about it, and we all feel some kind of connection to the Civil
War. This paper was created to highlight some of the major battles that took place during that
conflict. Major battles usually marked a drastic change in the momentum from one side to the other
or led to massive losses of troops. These battles and their results all played a huge part in the
outcome of the war.
One of the war s first battles was the Battle of First Bull Run. Today s site of the Battle of First
Bull Run is a tranquil pasture surrounded by trees and a split rail fence. Instead of the neigh ... Show

General Pierre Beauregard, commander of Confederate troops at the Battle of First Bull Run and
second in command during the Battle of Shiloh, commented that the enemy was given ...the most
surprising surprise but the delays allowed Union reinforcements to take their place on the
battlefield beside their comrades and drive the rebels back after two days of fighting. No ground
was gained, no strategic town was taken, no supply depot was sacked, but the Union victory did
force the evacuation of Confederate troops from much of Tennessee and split the rebel forces along
the lines formed by the Mississippi River.
Albert Sidney Johnson was a Troop Commander in this battle. Johnston was born in Kentucky and
obtained his education at West Point. He graduated in 1826. Johnston s first taste of active service
came in 1832 during the Black Hawk Indian War. He resigned his commission afterwards only to
return to active duty in 1836. He fought against the United States Indians on the River Neches and
served in the Mexican War with Major General Zachary Taylor. Taylor made Johnston a paymaster
during Taylor s presidency. He continued his rise in the ranks by becoming a colonel in the 2nd
Calvary, a brevet brigadier general commanding the Utah military district and in 1861 the
commander of the Pacific Coast.
Johnston was the highest ranking individual on either side to die in battle. While directing
operations during the battle, Johnston was
How Did American Cities Grow In The 19th Century
During the 19th century cities in America started growing at a very rapid rate. Each major city
attracted citizens because they offered jobs and more opportunities for people to make a living.
In the west, these cities were fueled by the gold rush, and in the south they were driven by
tobacco and iron production. The growth in the west and the south followed a period of rapid
growth in American cities in the north. There were two main reasons for this growth,
industrialization and mechanization. The use of iron in buildings had a major impact on the
growth within cities. Iron was different from steel, in the way that it can bend. This meant that
engineers had the ability to construct bigger bridges and skyscrapers. Engineers were able to
make taller buildings using cast iron and steel frame construction techniques. They also employed
the use of elevators to make it easier to occupy tall buildings without the need to climb a
significant number of stairs. One of the other big concerns for northern cities was finding a way to
keep the buildings warm in the winter. It was not possible to use fireplaces on the higher floors. The
problem was solved in the 1870 s by the development of heating systems that circulated steam
through radiators on the higher floors. These new... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Railroads changed the way people traveled and allowed people that worked in the cities to live
further away from the city. As an example, San Francisco was the first city that used cable cars to
allow citizens an easy was to travel around the city. Another popular means of transportation were
the trolleys. Eventually subways became more popular than cable cars and trolleys because they
allowed a way to travel around the city without interfering with regular traffic and pedestrians. All of
these means of transportation gave people the opportunity to live outside the city where it was less
crowded, but they could work in the
Doritos-Personal Narrative
Finally! Food! For a minute I thought I was going to starve to death here. I was sitting down and
savoring the blue packet of Doritos right now I had in my hand. With my back leaning against the
cluster of boxes, I looked up at Soundwave and shouted a short thank you to him. I was pretty sure
that he was the one that got me all of these boxes of food. Soundwavejust stared at me without
response.
Grabbing the opened bottle of water I had next to me, I downed the remaining water. Who knew
that a bottle of warm water in a plastic water could be so refreshing? Crumbling the packet of now
empty chips packet, I set it down next to the other trash from the previous meals I had.
Oh man, that felt a lot better. Suddenly I was grabbed by the cape ... Show more content on

Ol Lima Steakhouse
1.Introduction:
General Manager of Ol Spurs Steakhouse in Brisbane, a locally owned steakhouse and restaurant has
reported productivity and profit loss, which is negatively affecting the brand and the company s
profit margins. After careful consideration, it was discovered that employees within the various
sections are confused who should be doing what and to whom they should be reporting. This report
will analyse the issue and discuss key management factors when addressing staff. Two management
theories will be proposed as recommendations to measure the problem and to prevent the issue from
happening in the future.
Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye is valid, realistic, representation of the adolescent world. The book
is about adolescent crisis.
The main character, Holden, runs away from his expensive school because he is an academic
failure and finds intolerable the company of so many phoneys. Holden is a rangy sixteen year old
who has grown too fast. Girls are on his mind. Whenever girls do something pretty, even if they re
ugly or stupid, you fall half in love with them. Sex is something I really don t understand too hot.
You never know where the hell you are. I keep making up these sex rules for myself, and then I
break them right away. Last year I made up a rule that I was ... Show more content on

Yet, Holden s own sex drive is very much alive; it is part of the irresistible thrust toward adulthood.
He does not want to deny it; in this respect he wants to be grown up.
The action of the novel is centered around the athlete Stradlater, who is a very sexy bastard, and
who has borrowed Holden s jacket and girl. When he returns from the date Holden provokes him
into a fight. Get your dirty stinking moron knees off my chest, says Caulfield to Stradlater. You re
a stupid dirty sonuvabitch of a moron. After the fight he goes next door to Ackley s room for
companionship. That guy had everything wrong with him; sinus trouble, pimples, lousy teeth,
halitosis, crumby fingernails. You had to feel a little sorry for the crazy sonuvabitch. But he can
find no comfort or solace in the room which stinks of dirty socks. I felt so lonesome, all of a sudden,
I almost wished I was dead. 4
It is, however, the imminently dangerous quality of sex that is frightening. When Holden asks his
roommate if he had sex, That s a professional secret, buddy. When Holden recalls for this sexy
bastard how he had met Jane and goes on to say that he used to play checkers with her. Stradlater s
contemptuous comment is Checkers, for Chrissake! This girl, who had had a lousy childhood with a
booze hound for a stepfather running around the goddamn house naked, always kept her kings in the
back row. 5 The symbolism of this
Martha Stewart Case Summary
One of our most world renowned business women and television personalities Martha Stewart
decided to dip her feet into illegal insider trading. Martha served five months in a federal prison at
Alderson in West Virginia and two additional years of supervised release after a portion in home
confinement. Back in 2001, Martha Stewart sold all her shares from a biotech company she
invested in called ImClone. Ironically, a few days after she sold her shares the company s stockfell
sixteen percent after they publicly announced that the FDA did not approve ImClone s
pharmaceutical product (Moffatt, 2017). With her selling her shares before the company went
public and the subsequent drop in stock s value, Martha avoided a $45,673 loss. In addition, she
wasn t the only one who benefitted from the quick sale. The CEO of ImClone, Sam Waskal, ordered
