Into The Electronic Millennium Summary
Into the Electronic Millennium by Sven Birkerts
Reviewed by Farooq Syed, College of DuPage
After reading Sven Birkerts Into the Electronic Millennium, I have to say that I don t agree with
his arguments at all. For me new technology is the future of mankind and it will evolve into
something more superior and magical than newspapers. Whenever I have to do some research on
a topic I usually surf the internet instead of going to the library and finding books which is less
efficient. However, I have to say he has some really good points that I can t disagree on. I believe
technology is going to be the key to future and will help us effectively.
Whoever reads Sven Birkerts Into the Electronic Millennium, can see how much the author hates
technology and states that people will become dumb. Birkerts states, The complexity and
distinctiveness of spoken and written expression, which are deeply bound to traditions of print
literacy, will gradually be replaced by a more telegraphic sort of plainspeak. He also assumes that
technology will make people dull and boring which I totally disagree on. ... Show more content on

Children who watch T.V shows instead of reading the book won t have the same feel and the details
they should have gotten. Even though the children have fun watching the T.V. They will hate
reading books in the future and depend on technology to help them.
I think Birkerts is right when he says education has changed. In school teachers are showing power
points and slideshows to their students, which is very hard to write down notes. The advantages of
having slides are the students can listen to their teacher instead of writing down notes which saves
Lord Tennyson Research Paper
In 2012, a quote, to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield , served as an inspiration to the athletes
who competed in the former Olympics, engraved in the area that served to host their games. These
words came from a man whom suffered throughout his life, and yet never yielded to the obstacles
he encountered. Such a man was Lord Alfred Tennyson, a well renowned man of the Victorianism
time period. Critics applaud his skills of lyricism. Themes of the inevitability of death, nationalism,
and Arthurian legends are visible throughout his works as well as his fear of his familys long history
of mental illness. It is clear the close bonds between himself, his family, and friendships which more
often than not had ended in tragedy played... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, in order to understand the inspiration of Tennyson, it is necessary to understand his life.
Lord Alfred Tennyson was born on August, 6th, 1806 in Somersby, Lincolnshire, the United
Kingdom just before the start of Victorianism. An era he would later become a memorable writer of.
Tennyson was born into a financially unstable family of fourteen. Mental illnesses and epilepsy was
common amongst the males of his family and would haunt him for the rest of his life. He often
admitted himself into mental institutions over the course of his life out of fear that he had acquired
the disease his father and brother had. Eventually, Tennyson went to Trinity College where he
pursued poetry. The leader of the poetry group at the college, Arthur Hallam, quickly befriended
the shy poet and soon became his closest companion often encouraging Tennyson to write. A few
years later, the death of both of his father and shockingly Hallam shocked Tennyson into grief that,
lead to most of his best poetry ( Everett, Glenn) he had ever written. His poem Ulysses, was
written in memory of the passing of his friend, ...Life piled on life/ Were all too little, and of one to
me/Little remains.../From that eternal silence, in regret that his life had ended too young. Death and
the passing of time would soon become a major thematic scheme of his writing s for the rest of his
Gold Rush And The Silver Rush
Gold rush Today I will be talking about the gold rush and I think it will be a lot of fun so I will
just let you read about the gold rush It started when some men were working and they were
digging.then they found gold it pretty much spread immediately. People came from everywhere
to find gold. Then they started to make towns and people wanted the gold. They started to fight
and it became kaos. After people moved in to the gold land people were charging 19 million to
live there. But people did not like the cost to live there. So they went somewhere eventually they
found gold. About 1 year later it was a ghost town(a ghost is a town is a town that had a lot of
people but now they all leave). In Helena people found gold in 1864. People went nuts and wanted
that gold. So they went to Helena and got all that gold and went a way. A few years later they
found gold in grasshopper creek. In conclusion I think the gold rush is very important.Next week I
will be talking about the battle of the little bighorn. So please try to read it. Goodbye!

Statement of Need or Problem to be Addressed The most recent survey of homeless individuals
conducted January 29, 2014 revealed 958 homeless adults with no dependants, 70 of which were
completely unsheltered, and an additional 130 homeless adults who also had dependent children
with them. 208 of these homeless adults are chronically homeless (HUD s 2014 Continuum of Care
Homeless Assistance Programs, Populations, and Subpopulations, 2014).Wayside Christian Mission

the Journal of General Internal Medicine, a majority of homeless individuals surveyed stated that
they felt discriminated against or that they received lesser care because of their poverty or

appropriately treat health problems. Many homeless individuals have limited access to care, cannot

Severity Of Illness Index Paper
The Severity of Illness Index is a widely used four level index (from level 1 4) that determine seven
values of a patient s illness. These values start with the stage of the principal diagnosis, followed by
complications of the principal condition, and concurrent interacting conditions that affect the hospital
course. These three relate to the burden of the illnessof the patient entering a hospital. The next two
values are dependency on hospital staff and extent of non operating life support procedures. These
are for internal monitoring purposes only and are minimally affected by hospital staff and practice
standards in the organization. They are the least likely to influence predicting the Severity of Illness.
The last two values are the

Educational adjustments are very important for academic achievement. Ramanna Sood (1992) found
significant relationship between achievement motivation and adjustment. According to Good (1993)
academic achievement means knowledge attained or skills developed in the school subject, usually
designated by test scores or by marks assigned by teachers or by both. Best (1977) pointed out that
academic grades assigned by teachers or scores on standardized achievement test is operational
definition of academic achievement. According to George and Ravindran (2005) many factors
contribute to academic achievement. The major ones are intelligence, adjustments, motivation,
academic stress, level of aspirations and time perception etc. In present study academic achievement
is being studied with the adjustment, achievement motivation and academic stress.
Methodology
Aim of the study The main aim of the present study is that there is possibility of prediction of
adjustment of high school students on the basis of academic stress, achievement motivation and
academic achievement.
Objectives of the study 1) To measure the academic stress, achievement motivation and adjustment of
high school students and find out whether the difference between male female, urban rural and high
and low achievers is significant or not. 2) To study the strength of association
The Connection Between Shadow And Shadow
Rae closed her eyes. This connection with Shadow was starting to feel stronger than a brotherly
love. Shadow, have a Vampire and his Servant ever fought? Shadow knew what she meant, however
avoided it by explaining. It is not built into our DNA, we never fight,... except when the... Rae could
feel that what he would say, she wouldn t like.
Shadow clarified. I can only say that it is not normal for a Servant to challenge his Master nor is it a
noble idea. If the Servant does this during the night hours the Vampire will surely kill the Servant. If
the Servant does it during the daylight hours he will have only days to find a new Master before
he will be consumed by death. When a Servant kills his Master, his Master s blood is bonded to the

Rae watched him with curiosity and affirmed. Yes I was pleased that he had a sense of humor I
could not picture my life without laughter, and now I have two men with a sense of humor. You are
the frosting that holds the layers of cake together? Rae phrased the last portion as a question.
Shadow stood, walking to the dresser and started gathering items for her shower and agreed. Yes
Goddess, you may to have your cake and eat it too for the rest of your life. They both laughed over
the human clichés.
Rae was feeling confused over why her family had been hiding for many centuries. If life was to
be good, what was the problem. Yeah! Okay, most people don t consider being mated to a Vampire
that great, however she couldn t find a down side, yet. Shadow, I m confused why did my family
feel the need to hide us if life is magnificent with the Vampire and his Servant?
Shadow thought, oh boy it s that question again, he knew it was likely the transfer to Fay that made
them run. Trying to answer without giving her full details wouldn t be easy however; he would say
what he could, without lying. People were
