Dallas Mavericks Case Study
The Dallas Mavericks have had an interesting offseason to say the least. The free agency period
started off fantastic for the team but got rough very quickly. With the pending signing of a
massive free agent in Deandre Jordan, Mavericks fans were on cloud nine. We all know how the
Jordan saga played out, so Dallas had to look elsewhere in free agency and through trades. Dallas
signed a young shooting guard in Wesley Matthews and an aging point guard in Deron Williams.
The team also traded for veteran center Zaza Pachulia to bolster their front court. All three of these
players are great assets to the team and will be worked into the Mavericks starting five in 2015 16.
Dallas made some great real life acquisitions but are they fantasy relevant?... Show more content on

The loss of Tyson Chandler to the Suns through free agency and Deandre Jordan deciding to stay
with the Clippers almost crippled the Mavs. Pachulia won t be the saving grace for the franchise,
but he will bring talent and veteran leadership to the club. Pachulia put up good defensive
numbers for the Bucks last season, and can really excel at both ends of the floor. A solid role
player, Pachulia has averaged 7.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game during his 12 year NBA
career. Pachulia won t come close to performing like Deandre Jordan or even Tyson Chandler.
However, he will be a solid performer at center this season and has a keen ability to protect the
paint. He ll most likely be sharing court time with Samuel Dalembert and Dwight Powell so I don
t expect much better numbers than his career average. Carlisle tends to also like to play small
ball, sticking Parsons at power forward and Nowitzki at center. Both of these things could put a
damper on the fantasy success of Pachulia. Pachulia is a very intriguing fantasy option, but I just
don t see a supreme value for him going forward. Taking him as a late round pick in drafts or
scooping him up on waivers will be the best option going forward. There will be plenty of
opportunities to grab rebounds and put back shots for Pachulia, but will that be enough to justify a
roster spot on your team? I say give him a try but temper your

Silent Words in Art
The Magdalen with a smoking flame is an art piece that was done by George De La Tour in 1640.
De La Tour painted this work using oil and paint on a material known as canvas. This painting
was created in France then it was moved to the one of the most respected museums of the Los
Angeles county Museum of art. The size of the painting is 128cm by 94cm, by looking at this
painting the elements that were used are very noticeable the texture in this work gives it a very
smooth and rough feel at the same time. Looking at the painting Magdalen is sitting vertically in
this painting and so is the flame . The value of this art piece is stands out as we can see all the light
that illuminates Magdalen and part of the wall. You can also see that Mary Magdalen is thinking of
something that is unknown to us. All of the objects in the painting including the, Skull, Book, lamp,
and lighting of the candle make up the unity of this image, to better identify what Mary may be
thinking as she meditates on the flame. In this painting the light is what calls the attention to the art.
Magdalen is an actual character that was drawn from the bible as she sitting in solitude and gazing
into a simple flame lamp (Louvre, de Musee Paris).
This painting is a very religious work of art because the skull symbolizes the suffering of Jesus
Christ. De
La Tour is most known for depicting scenes from the bible and characters. The books that are on
top of the table are represented as bibles. When I
Persuasive Animal Shelter Essay
Every year in the United States lots of lost, abandoned, or not wanted dogs and cats come to the
animal shelters. Out of these animals some are lucky to be adopted into a responsible loving home,
but there are still lots of animals not in home causing even healthy animals being euthanized due to
the capacity of the shelter. There are clear solutions for overpopulated shelters that society need to
keep in mind. In this report will cover spray and neuter, euthanasia, adoption, and animal shelters.

Spray and Neuter

Every year many animals are killed in the United States animal shelters, because the animals can t
find a home. Many can say reproduction has a big deal to with the overpopulation in animal
shelter, and they are right. Male animals contribute in animal overpopulation due to them not being
sterilized. One unsterilized male can make a lot of babies with a lot of female animals.

The animal that are not put in shelters are put out in the street to survive by themselves and
exposed themselves to disease. Because of low funding shelters it causes overpopulation in shelters
because there s no funding for more space, supplies, and staff. Lots of shelters take volunteers but
some don t even have the experiences to deal with the situation that they will be faced. Many animal
shelters do not have veterinarians/hospitals to help animals, most veterinarian only open half the
day then full time duty. Low funding is one of the causes why animal shelters are overpopulated,
because if there was a solution were the government were to spend more money on animal shelters it
helps animals get into homes faster, and not worry about being in the streets. Many shelters accept
donation for food, pet supplies, and time to help around the shelters, that one solution that helps the
Netflix Satire Examples Of Satire
In the Netflix mockumentary series, American vandal, made by Dan Perrault, the main character
Dylan Maxwell, an 18 year old senior at Hanover High School was held responsible for performing
vandalism on 27 cars causing $100K worth of disfiguring. Everybody believed that Dylan was in
charge of the destruction, despite the fact that he claimed innocence. Instead, they thought Alex
Trimboli, the eyewitness, Ms Shapiro, the Spanish teacher and everyone else that claimed he was
behind the vandalism were speaking the truth. They put Dylan as the prime suspect based on his
past with Ms Shapiro and furthermore because they believed he was capable of committing such
crime. The thesis of the show is never to prejudge a personbased on their past. That may sound as
cliche as it appears to be yet the accompanying procedures used to shape the show will enable one
to see how under the circumstances this might be viewed as a cliche thesis. The examples of satire
that the creators used were humour, exaggeration and irony. A diversion was utilised to make the
show enjoyable for young people, yet with the use of satire, they could influence teenagers to
appreciate the show while accepting a genuine message about how a false allegation against
anyone could destroy their lives. Many of the people in the show were biased against rebellious
teenagers which was something that Dylan was known for being. In the mockumentary, Dylan
Maxwell was accused based off his image, his past, as well as his
Compare And Contrast Brecht And Stanislavski
Bertolt Brecht and Constantin Stanislavski are regarded as two of the most influential practitioners
of the twentieth century, both with strong opinions and ideas about the function of the theatre and
the actors within it. Both theories are considered useful and are used throughout the world as a
means to achieve a good piece of theatre. The fact that both are so well respected is probably the
only obvious similarity as their work is almost of complete opposites.

Stanislavski was born in 1863 to a wealthy family who loved amateur theatricals. In 1898 he met
Vladimir Nemirovich Danchenko and they founded the Moscow Art Theatre. Stanislavski s work is
centred on the notion that acting should be a total lifelike expression of what is being ... Show more

Brecht s idea of the actor s role is very much different from Stanislavski s. Brecht saw the actor as
tool to simply represent an archetype. Brecht didn t want the audience taken in by the actor s
performance, he wanted to alienate them from the action so that they could judge the plays
meanings rather than feel empathy with the characters. He called this the Verfremdungseffekt, which
translated from German means the effect of a worldview. Up until Brechts revolutionary work,
method acting was very common. Brecht quoted

Nowadays the plays meaning is usually blurred by the fact that the actor plays to the audiences
hearts. The figures portrayed are foisted on the audience and are falsified in the process. Contrary to
present custom they ought to be presented quite coldly, classically and objectively. For they are not
matter for empathy; they are there to be understood and politely added

Brecht was not the sort of writer or director that wanted an exact portrayal from his actors of how
he saw his characters. Nor did he expect the audience to take an exact interpretation from he actors.
He wanted the audience to draw some sort of moral from the story that would arouse their sense of
reason to affect their own
The Segregation And Subjugation Of African Americans
Political inequality has been an obstacle that many minority groups have encountered throughout
history. The segregation and subjugation of African Americans in the United States during the
1900s was indifferent. Although innumerable people were opposed to the unfamiliar ideals of
anti segregation activists, George Edwin Taylor went against the standards of society, and
explored new civil morals. Through his endeavors, he was able to encourage people to divert
from their accepted beliefs and helped establish a foundation for the yet to come Civil Rights
Movement. In the year 1857, George Edwin Taylor was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to a free
black, Amanda Hines, and slave, Bryant Taylor. At the time of his birth, Arkansas was preparing
for the forced removal of approximately 700 free blacks. On February 12, 1859 the Free Negro
Expulsion Act was enacted in the state of Arkansas. All free blacks were ordered to leave the
state by January 1, 1860, or they would consequently be sold into slavery. Amanda Hines fled the
state with her child to Alton, Illinois. In 1861 or 1862 Hines died from tuberculosis when George
was only four or five years old during the climax of the Civil War. George later claimed that when he
was an orphan whom had lived in dry good boxes in Alton. In 1865 at the age of seven, George
boarded the Hawkeye State, a side paddle wheeler, and disembarked at La Crosse, Wisconsin, on
May 8, 1865. In 1865, La Crosse had a small but active black
Chinese Imagined Community Essay
The Chinese Canadian experience during the 19th and 20th centuries provides a classic example of
history s role in the nation making process, the creation of an imagined community (Stanley 477).
The anti Asian exclusion era (1880s to 1940s) in Canada played a pivotal role in the emergence of
the Chinese identity. Benedict Anderson describes the imagined community as a community that is
built through emotional ties with one another. Anderson states that the community is imagined
because the members of even the smallest nation will never know most of their fellow members,
meet them, or even hear of them, yet in the minds of each lives the image of their communion,
(Anderson 1991). With this said, Chinese Canadians felt a strong... Show more content on

This labour was in high demand because Canadian and American capitalists were eager to find the
most inexpensive solution (Spencer 21). However, things changed when the white European
population of Canada heard rumours that Chinese immigrants were taking over whole industries in
California, such as the shoe making industry and cigar manufacturing industries (Spencer 22). Fear
of continuous growth in Chinese labourers, the Canadian government implemented several anti
Asian laws including the Chinese Head Tax of 1885 and the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1923. First
these laws were intended to restrict the amount of Chinese immigrants coming into Canada,
however eventually the laws were changed to stop Chinese immigration in its entirety. Laws that
openly discriminated against Chinese immigrants led public opinion to see Chinese immigrants as
an alien race that did not belong within Canada(Stanley 486). The Canadian press also played a
huge role in marking Chinese immigrants as alien. In 1882, the Toronto based journal the Trades
Union Advocate/Wage Worker noted, the Chinese are a vile race. It is recorded in one locality in
China they recently destroyed 80 percent of their children...merely because they were girls, (Spencer
23). By depicting the Chinese as a vile race the Canadian population became disillusioned towards
Chinese immigrants. These strong feelings of explicit racism and discrimination
Factory Working Conditions Of Bangladesh
Factory Working Conditions In Bangladesh Does it take a catastrophic event for the factories in
Bangladesh to become know for the harsh working conditions? Most Americans don t understand,
nor do Americans see how the factories and sweatshop workers are affected by the unsafe
environments, the illegal use of children, and the minimal pay with no compensation. Americans
take for granted the pay received, and the type of working conditions that are set in order to for the
business to operate. Child labor laws in Bangladesh are very few in number, and the few that are set
in place don t completely protect the underage children working. Working in such a hazardous
environmentthe workers should be compensated in either pay or benefits. The working environments
and conditions in Bangladesh are not only harsh, but unsafe, and the workers are under compensated
for the conditions.

Factories in Bangladesh have some of the worst working environments for workers to operate in.
There is no comparison between American factories, and factories in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh
alone some of the most catastrophic work hazards happen in the factories. In

Spencer 2
America certain laws are set in place to have guarantee that hazardous workplaces are under control,
and at a certain point. Otherwise the business and or factory would have to be shut down for unsafe
working conditions. On the 24th of April 2013 one of the most catastrophic
Analysis Of Bathers By Neil Mcclelland
During Neil Mcclelland s artist talk, I was really inspired by the way he working with traditional
materials and contemporary elements at the same time. Meanwhile, a large number of his works are
dealing with identity, body, time, and memory. To me, the most interesting work is the series of
appropriation art named the Bathers , which is a bizarre and chaotic piece that contains interesting
connections between time and memory. Refer to Mcclelland s talking, the characters in the Bathers
are taken from Instagram photos of our time and space; however, the background of the paintings are
compositional. He takes all kinds of different figures from historical environment and reform them.
As a result, it brings out the idea of reordering time . In painting, photography, and installation art,
artists often create temporal dislocations by juxtaposing or layering images, objects, and styles from
different contexts without setting up logical or sequential connections between them (pg.136).
Furthermore, what is special about the Bathers is that we usually see artists composite photos with
photos, and paintings with paintings; nevertheless,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the course readings, Finally, contemporary artists sometimes deal with the concept of endlessness.

Thales Of Miletus And The Elastic School Of Philosophy
From Thales of Miletus, the first ancient Greek philosopher, to Socrates and Aristotle, ancient Greek
philosophy has set the standard for modern intellectual and rational thought. They developed new
ways of reasoning and logic to explain the natural phenomena that surround them. Reality, existence,
and the essence of things were the basis of what these philosophers sought to rationalize. In this
paper, I will be discussing the epistemology and ontologypresented by The Eleatics, the Pluralists,
and The Atomists. These three Pre Socratic schools often opposed one another s epistemological
and ontological views. However, each critic resulted in even more theories and laws that we still use
to this day. Their works also improved the standard for argument which became of great use to the
future Classical and modern philosophers.
The Eleatics

The Elastic School of Philosophy, established by Parmenides in the fifth century, was best known for
the development of early philosophers including Zeno of Elea and Xenophanes of Colophon. The
Elastics works often pointed to their use of logic and reason rather than sense experience to find the
ultimate truths . These ultimate truths were concerned with the Being and Becoming of things
rather than the origin of the things themselves. In this section, we are going to focus primarily on the
school s prominent advocates: Parmenides, writer of On Nature, and Zeno, founder of the dialectic
method. Together, Parmenides and Zeno laid the
Democratic Republic Research Paper
Introduction:
Children across the country can be heard pledging allegiance to the flag of the United States of
America and to the republic for which it stands; however, research shows we no longer have a
democratic republic in the United States. When the desires of the majority are systematically
subverted to the desires a small and powerful minority, as is often in the case in the US, that system
is an oligarchy. The democratic republic envisioned by the founding fathers has been replaced by an
oligarchy to which they would have objected. With no express discussion of corporations in the
constitution, the responsibility of defining the role and privileges of corporations in the US has been
left largely to the United States Supreme Court. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to a Newsday poll 93.7% of Americans opposed the decision. Supreme Court decisions
have eroded the protection of private property of the individuals in favor of a concept of public
good that is defined by elites. When the country was founded interests of the voting constituency and
the interests of economic constituency were the same, because there were no large enterprises and
each family represented a single voting unit. Finally, Anderson states Money is power; it can and
does buy politicians and armies. The great distance between the founding of the country and the
modern day has allowed a perversion of the philosophy the country was founded upon. Corporations
can exist in both oligarchs and democracies, but left unchecked have a tendency to become oligarchs

Annie Hall Analysis
Annie Hall, an American romantic comedy released in 1977 retells the story of a man named Alvy
Singer (portrayed by Woody Allen) and his attempt at comprehending why his relationship with
Annie Hall failed. Annie Hall incorporates many cinematic techniques into its story which help
solidify its place regularly on lists of best comedies (Snider). It uses conflict, different types of
narratives and a classic three act structure. The movie beautifully conveys a story in New York in
which one really feels the characters are actual citizens and not actors (Barsam 166).
Annie Hall is a quirky movie that starts off with Alvy directly breaking the fourth wall and
addressing the audience and telling two stand up jokes. These two jokes set up the troubles he
faces head on throughout his life and foreshadow the problems that constantly arise in his
relationships. The first joke he tells summarizes his own feelings about his life and shortcomings.
While in the second he satirizes his adult relationship life (Annie Hall). Alvy then looks back on
his childhood and how he was raised. After Alvy puts the audience in his shoes and shows us his
childhood, the cinema fast forwards to show the audience Annie and Alvys relationship. Alvy then
breaks the fourth wall again while standing in line with Annie for The Sorrow and the Pity. This is
the first time the audience gets a peak at Alvy and Annies relationship and gets to observe the
constant problems that arise and one of the reasons for their failing relationship. Alvy then
flashbacks to his first two wives and portrays a story of his past failed relationships.
In contrast to Alvys first two wives, Annie is different. The two are seen having fun and making
boiled lobster. The audience then gets a peak into how Annie and Alvy met, at a doubles tennis
match. The awkward small talk observed after the tennis match between Alvy and Annie leads to
Alvy scoring a date with Annie. They enjoy wine on her balcony and create casual small talk which
then ends up turning into full fledged flirting. After their first date Alvy suggest a kiss from Annie
to which she obliges. They make love and soon after Annie tells Alvy she loves him. They move in
together and conflict arises when he finds
Critical Thinking
Introduction

In our lives, there must be a time where we may face problems. Problems will occur if we do not
have the right strategy or solution. So, how are we going to solve it? Well, there are no specific
solutions that I can explain here but there are some ways that can help us to create the correct and
fast solution to solve our problems. One of the ways is to think critically.

Thinking is a good process but thinking alone will not help us to develop our minds. That is when
critical thinking may take place. Critical thinking is the ability to think clearly and rationally. It
includes the ability to engage in reflective and independent thinking. Using critical thinking one
makes a decision or solves the problem of judging what to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Not only that, he has used his thinking for the research of Aristotle s theory. The factor which al
Kindi relied upon to determine which of these theories was most correct was how adequately each
one explained the experience of seeing. For example, Aristotle s theory was unable to account for
why the angle at which an individual sees an object affects his perception of it. This proves that Al
Kindi s views and philosophies are very comprehensive and analytical in every research he had done.

Not only a philosopher or a logician, he is also known as an Islamic psychologist. He was an

expert in experimental psychology. He was the first one to use the method of experiment in
psychology, the earliest one to realize the therapeutic value of music and attempted to cure a
quadriplegic boy using music therapy. He also stated that sorrow is not within us, we are the one
who bring it upon ourselves . It shows that he knows the ways to cure a person s mind and help to
improve the way of thinking of others. He developed cognitive methods to combat depression and
discussed the intellectual operations of human beings.
