NIOSH Publication Summary
Critical Review of NIOSH Publication
Taylor Schwartzer
Columbia Southern University

Abstract
Material handling can be a safe and continuous when the right plans are in place. In this article, we
will be discussing engineering and administrative improvements, proactive plans, and some of the
options to go with improvements to material handling when it comes to ergonomics. This atrial will
also specifically summarize the following information from the NIOSH publication No. 2007 191
Manual Material Handling.

Engineering and Administrative Improvements

When it comes to ergonomics, engineering is the best tool to use. The company can use many
different resources that can help them to eliminate the stresses causing MSDs (musculoskeletal
Disorders). The NIOSH article publication Manual Material Handling (Ergonomic guidelines for
manual material handling (DHHS [NIOSH] Publication No. 2007 191) gives some great example
for engineering control of ergonomics when it comes to the work place. Examples from the article
include rearranging, modifying, redesigning, providing or replacement tools, and equipment to name
a few (NIOSH ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From reading the NIOSH publication given, the material can be applied to any type of work you
are doing. I like the fact it gave me ideas and those ideas can be applied to what we do daily. When
reading through Appendix A, B, C, D, and E, I got excited to see the resources that were given to
help in aiding with ergonomics. I know these resources will be getting used by me in the future of
my career in safety. My opinion on this article is... it can be a useful tool and a reliable resource
when it comes to being proactive when dealing with ergonomics. I really enjoyed reading it
through and learning from it. I can say it is safe to say the article very agreeable and a useful tool
when applying it to your workplace and to use for
The Malawi Health System
There are a number of challenges exerting increasing pressure on Malawi s ability to fully adopt
HSS approach. These include: Demographic trends, While the population has grown from10.6
million in 1990, to approximately 17 million the Malawi health system has struggled to maintain
and provide adequate health care to the people Malawi s population is growing. Increasing
fertility rates has led to a significant increase in the population projection, which has grown from
XXXX million people in 2051 (2004 estimates) to 34.2 million people (2006 estimates). This,
together with demographic trends, suggests that while there will be a growing need for health
services targeted at children, teenagers and young families, the predominant influence will
remain xxxxxx, which will cause most change in the use of resources. burden of disease The
prevalence and burden of chronic disease is significant and will place increasing pressure on
health expenditure. Chronic diseases, including xxxxxxx, are estimated to be responsible for more
than 80% of the burden of disease.12 The WHO warns that the global burden of chronic disease is
increasing rapidly and predicts by the year 2020 that chronic disease will account for almost three
quarters of all deaths.13 uneven access to health. The WHO has identified the inverse care law as
one of the common shortcomings of health care delivery. Inverse care suggests that people with the
most means whose needs for health care are often less consume
My Personal Statement On Elementary Education
I was home on leave after serving 15 months in Iraq, spending time with my family and
connecting with people I haven t seen in a while. My mother arranged for me to speak to my
brother s 3rd grade class since they had written letters to me while I was deployed. It was
something I felt that I owed since the letters were cheerful and really helped when I was over there.
I was a bit nervous because I have never done something like this before, public speaking was not a
strong suit of mine. While visiting with the students and answering questions I fell in love with
being in the classroom. After finishing my commitment to the military, I continued my educationand
got my degree in Elementary Education. I am currently finishing up my 3rd year in teaching 2nd
grade and love every minute of it.
Critical thinking is something that should be taking place during every lesson. I engage my students
in this higher level order thinking by asking multi level questions that may have more than one
answer. I also foster thoughtful discussions during out social learning lessons, such as encouraging
healthy debate. Being able to communicate and elaborate their thinking is important. Because I teach
at the primary level so sometimes in order to get students to engage in critical thinking, I have to
model it through discussion or through work. In the discussion, I use various questioning strategies
and use various introductory phrases in order get students to open up and reveal that they are
Battle Of The Alamo Summary
The battle of the Alamo was one of the first wars in the Texas revolution. It took place March 6th,
1836. The lead attacker was General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. The Alamo was a stronghold
built by spanish missionaries. In the end there were 1500 casualties from mexican troops. There
were only 30 civilians spared. The leader of the Texans, Colonel Travis drew a line in the sand
and asked who ever wanted to stay and protect to come over the line, only one did not. That s
basically a summary of the battle of the Alamo. The Goliad Massacre only happened three weeks
after the battle of the Alamo, so still early 1836. General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna told his men
to kill the Texans that surrendered on March 20th, 1836. Theses Texans were
Joan of Arc Biography
Joan d Arc was one of the most popular Renaissance warriors and is famously known for her battle
at Orleans, which she won, at only 18 years of age. When she rose to fame, Joan was often called
the Maid of Lorraine, showing that she was the peasant girl from Lorraine.
Born in 1412, Jeanne d Arc, more commonly known as Joan of Arc, was raised in the small village
of Domrémy, located in Lorraine, France. Her parents, Jacques d Arc and Isabelle Romée, were
mere peasants that also helped raise her 4 siblings, Jean d Arc, Pierre d Arc, Catherine d Arc, and
Jacquemin d Arc. As a child, Joan often had to deal with wars, financial struggles, a corrupt
government, and the slaying of innocent people, often for no reason. This was because of the
simultaneous deaths of the kings of France, King Henry V, and England, King Charles VI. With
them dead, the only heirs to the throne were Charles, who may not have been Charles VI s
biological son, and Henry, who was Catherine (Charles VI s daughter) and Henry V s son. There
was a dispute between the two countries as to who would rule the other, as Henry was only an
infant and Charles might not have really been an heir. As a result, the Hundred Years War was
fought between the two countries. As Henry grew older, the war raged on. He was eventually
crowned king, but didn t use any of his power to try to win the Hundred Years War; this gives Henry
the title of a Dauphin, someone who has the power to rule but hasn t taken the initiative; like
A Framework For Understanding Poverty Essay
A Framework for Understanding Poverty Paper
A Framework for Understanding Poverty is a book, written by Ruby K. Payne for the purpose of
helping educators impact their students in poverty through opportunities. This book examines
experiences from all economic classes in order to evaluate the differences in education among each
class. Payne talks about the different types of poverty and the resources needed to be a stable and
educated person. Poverty is the extent to which an individual does without resources .
There are two types of poverty, generational poverty and situational poverty. It is very important to
know the difference between the two types of poverty. Situational poverty is when an event
happens, for example a death, illness or divorce. Situational poverty is usually temporary because it
is mainly based on the lack of financial resources rather than any other resources. Generational
poverty is when a family has been in poverty for two or more generations. So they usually lack more
than just financial resources.
Generational poverty has different hidden rules, and beliefs than situational poverty. Generational
poverty usually has violence, instability, uneducated adults, addiction, incarceration, death, and lack
of space in a household. In generational poverty people don t usually know how to manage money
because they have never had much or any. Family is very important to people in poverty and the
patterns are usually hard to understand for people outside of
Buddhist Monk Murders Case Study
Forensic Evidence Collected and Processed in the
Wat Promkunaram Buddhist Temple Murders For the Midterm Writing Assignment project, I chose
to review and summarize the Forensic Files episode titled, The Buddhist Monk Murders (S15, Ep3)
(Dowling, 2001). In August 1991, nine Monks from the Wat Promkunaram Temple were forced to
kneel in a circle in the living room then shot execution style in the back of the head. Because of the
number of victims and sheer brutality of the murders, this incident is considered the worst mass
murder in Arizona s history.
Background
In 1991, Wat Promkunaram Buddhist Temple was attended by mostly Thai nationals and considered
a gathering point for the Thai community in Arizona. The Temple is located in Waddell, Arizona, a
small community on the outskirts of Phoenix, and not far from Luke Air Force Base. Investigators
believe the murders occurred in the late evening of August 9, 1991. The bodies were discovered by a
Temple member the next morning.
Investigation
After securing the outside perimeter, Crime Scene Investigators meticulously searched inside the
dwelling; taking videos, photographs, and collecting over 1,000 fingerprints. The bedrooms had
been ransacked but very few items of value had been taken. In fact, other items of value were left
untouched such as cash (which was left in the open) and a safe, leading investigators to believe that
robbery was not the motive. Among all of the evidence collected, two pieces of evidence
Manners Changed Manners
How Manners Have Changed Over Time
As Americans, we often talk about the different changes that are taking place in our country and
society. One of those changes is manners, when I was growing up, it was very important to have
manners. This was the only acceptable behavior by adults, and parents would often say, practicing
manners outside of home was a representation of them which made me mannerism When a person
sees a child with manners, that child automatic shows their parent s teaching. I believe, due to the
rise of technology, parent s avoiding teaching their children proper manners and the lack of social
skills, the use of proper etiquette and manners is progressively fading away.
Therefore, with the rise of technology, people have adjusted manners as times have changed.
Particularly in America, with all the use of the different electronics devices such as: smart phones,
smart watches, laptops, computer devices, and etc., have almost obstruct the way we once view
proper etiquette and manners. Proper etiquette like dinner table is one of those manners that have
taken its turn and are almost nonexistent, due to the rise of technology. Family once had ambitious
standards when it came to sitting around the dinner table each night with their family. This was a
time each family valued and shared the important of dinner table manners to their children as a
family traditional.
However, technology is a contributor in this change that family once
Effects Of Cigarette Smoking
Cigarette smoking is one of the strong sources of killer diseases in the Philippines and other
countries worldwide. Young and adult men and women are engaged in smoking due to cases such
as peer pressure, poor religious beliefs, stress, etc. As the trend ascends, harmful effects on one s
health rises directly. In order to lessen the motivation of smoking, countries implement laws. One of
the ways to inform and to make Filipinos hesitate, if not, quit smoking is through the graphic
health warnings (GHWs) included in the cigarette packaging. Cigarettes are considered deadly and
very addictive. With no warnings associated for its usage, rise of death from smoking related
diseases will continue going up. Not only the smokers are at risk, but people exposed to second
hand smoke are susceptible to negative effects of tobaccoconsumption. It can be considered as
passive smoking, increasing the possibility of having cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, and
harm in children s health as its harmful effects. In order to discourage consumers and inform people
of its negative effects, the government provides regulations to tobacco products. It is a struggle for
the government of a country to make sure it has healthy citizens and environment. Providing
programs to control people s involvement to cigarettes is a must. Through these applications, it can
promote wellness to people affected as such may interrupt the appeal and ease of access to such
products. Firm and cohesive ideas
