Jammu And Kashmir Conflict
Jammu and Kashmir
Dhruv Malhotra In the summer of 1947, millions forcefully emigrated from India to Pakistan.
People were uprooted from their homeland and sent to live in Pakistan. Some would travel on foot,
some in carriages, but most by Train. The trains were given a warm sending off by the officials and
sent on their way. As the train reached Pakistan, the doors opened and out flowed a pool of blood.
Almost everyone on the train had been massacred. One of those people was my great grandfather.
Thus, due to this catastrophic and melancholic incident, escalated the great conflict between India
and Pakistan, more specifically, the conflict in Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmir is a state in India, that
shares a border with Pakistan, and since the partition of India and Pakistan, it has been disputed
land. Both countries claim the land is theirs, which has subsequently caused several wars between
the two. My stance on the issue is to call for autonomy. To give Jammu and Kashmir self
governance, which will let the state make the decisions rather than the two countries. It ensures
peace for the people of the state, rather than wealth for either India or Pakistan. Jammu and
Kashmir was originally a part of India when the conflict began, though, due to its high Muslim
population, it leaned more towards Pakistan. According to The Times of India, 53% of the
population of Kashmir is Muslim or of Muslim descent and wants to secede to Pakistan . However,
the conflict arises because
What Role Does Music Play In The Hobbit
When you turn on the radio, everybody that the sound can reach will typically suggest to play their
favorite band or genre of music.Whether it is alternative, punk rock, or smooth jazz, music is
something that everybody enjoys listening to. This is no exception in the novel, The Hobbit by
J.R.R. Tolkien. Music plays an important role in this book where you frequently read songs sung by
dwarves, elves, and goblins. Although all of these magical beings sing songs that may look similar
at first glance, these tunes could not be more different! In chapter one of The Hobbit, thirteen
dwarves begin singing a song about an adventure over Misty Mountains and taking back the gold
and treasure that the evil dragon, Smaug, stole from the them. The last line of the song states, We
must away, ere break of day, to win our harps and gold from him! The dwarves were exceptionally
determined to march up to Smaug and take the back the precious gold that was rightfully theirs.
The tone of the song was very bold and adventurous. This is proved by the length of the song. The
song sung by the dwarves is so long that the when you read it, you feel as if you are with... Show

This song is shorter, and much more peculiar and mystifying than the tune sung by the dwarves.
Almost every stanza ends with a Ha, ha! this is a small, but important factor to the mystery of the
song. It leaves you with many questions. Why are they laughing? What are they laughing at? As
mentioned at the beginning of this paragraph, the song sung by the elves is much shorter than the
dwarves tune. The length of this song contributes to the mysterious tone. If this song was long and
drawn out, the reader would no longer be left with questions about the song. They would know why
the elves were laughing, and they would also know the answers to the questions the elves asked the
group of travellers. Without the tone and length of the song the mystery and suspense would be
What Justification Has Alexander II Become Known As The...
To what justification has Alexander II become known as the Great Reformer ?
Russia in the 19th century was, as we now know, a fatally flawed system. An autocracy that
would not last beyond the early 20th century and there surrounds a controversy and paradox in
one of the last Tsars, Alexander II, who has many titles imparted upon him, for example The Tsar
Liberator or The Great Reformer ; the later draws links to Peter the Great . Titles like these are
cause of such controversy are not based in the denial of his reforms but rather the significance of
these reforms whether it be; the depth of effect on people, the amount of people affected, the length
of time they were effected for or the effect of the event upon today. These are ways ... Show more

Each reform seeking to modernise Russia, in the words of Dr David Moon, rebuild Military might
and recover international status. However whether he was successful in his aim does not directly
contribute to the significance, it can be significant without being successful.
Central to all of the reforms of Alexander II is the Emancipation Decrees which are arguably the
largest reforms of Alexander and set up for the following liberal community reforms. The most well
known is the Emancipation of the Serfs in 1861 had reaching consequences into every corner of
Russia and its significance is evident in the depth of contemporary excitement as described by
Prince Pyotrs Kropotkin, Crowds of peasants and educated men stood in front of the palace, shouting
hurrahs . Such rejoicing and mass celebration helps highlights the importance placed upon this
manifesto, but is also highlighted in the opinions of the author himself as he is in opposition to the
system but also a member of nobility in which this manifesto has no direct effect and yet still
supports and rejoices at the manifesto. Showing the startling significance that the Russia public put
upon this reform, feeds itself into the significance of the Alexander as a reformer as Pytor describes
later [Alexander] Your name has been transmitted through history as that of a hero . This point is
compounded by a newspaper article at the time in which the emotion created by the
Hrolf Kraki Kings
In The Saga of King Hrolf Kraki we are introduced to multiple kings who are different in many
ways. Each one of these achieve their leadership roles in different ways and are held to different
standards. Some of these kings include King Frodi, King Hegi, and of course King Hrolf Kraki.
King Frodi is one of the first kings mentioned in The Saga of King Hrolf Kraki and portrayed as
the jealous, cold hearted brother of Halfdan. King Frodi and King Halfdan both achieved their
leadership due to being sons of a previous king. We are told the King Frodi envied his brother
because he ruled Denmark, so much so that he gathered a group of men and burned and destroyed
everything (Pg. 1) During this action, King Frodi seized and killed... Show more content on

King Helgi then used a beggar to trick Queen Olof into going into the woods in the search of
treasure. King Helgi then took her and raped her. This shows how although kings during that time
were seen to be ideal warriors, they were also flawed. Like King Frodi, King Helgi lacked some
morals and eventually suffers the consequences of his actions when his daughter Yrsa who later
found out that he was her father and he had raped her mother, had him attacked. Then there is
King Hrolf Kraki who shows us an example of what was a truly great king. King Hrolf has most
of the honorable traits of that time that allowed him to obtain his leader ship along with his fame.
Hrolf was for the most part successful in his battles due to being able to gather up many noble
warriors who were called King Hrolf s Champions He treated these mean with a certain
brotherhood that isn t really shown by the other kings in the Saga. This appears to be an
important trait for him to have during this time and it works in his favor. As more men heard
about how he honored his champions, they were attracted towards him which allowed him to
build a decent sized army of warriors. An example of this happening is when Svipdag told his
king that he was leaving because he wanted to look for a king who will honour (Pg. 30) him and
his brothers more. Although King Hrolf Kraki had many honorable traits he too was flawed like
most people. One mistake
How To Write A Narrative Essay About Being The Ice Envelope
I remember how numb my hands and toes were. The temperature was below zero and I was
frustrated. I remember being terrified to try something new, but I did it.
Not too long ago, when I was in 5th grade, I was given an invitation from my friend. I m not going
to say the name of the girl, so for now, I ll call her Sally. The envelope looked somewhat fancy to
me. She told me not to open it until I went home. To 5 other people at our table, she gave an
identical envelope. Another friend of mine, I am going to call her Brownie for now, had a
inquisitive look on her face. This was one concept that still remained in my head for the rest of the
school day, the envelope. As soon as I came home that day, I dug out the envelope from my
backpack. Then I saw the answer to what I was thinking about all day. It was an invitation to a
birthday party at the ICE SKATING RINK. You d probably have thoughtthat I was bursting with
excitement, but I wasn t. The truth is, I was desperate to go, but I just couldn t. And the reason for
that would be 7 words: I DON T KNOW HOW TO ICE SKATE. Being the... Show more content on

As I walked up to receive my ice skates, my knees began to wobble. I asked the lady at the counter
where the ice skates were, and after I slipped them on, I tried standing up, but my wobbly knees
and the shoe blade at the bottom made it impossible. As soon as I put my foot on the cold, hard
ice, I felt a wisp of cool air rush past my face. I saw people struggling to skate, gracefully skating
and people who fell down, but then got back up. I. Was. Terrified. I tried to take a step forward,
but that just made it worst. I slipped and fell. But that wasn t the worst part, I failed to remember
that you had to bring gloves. The whole time I was holding onto the wall, my hands were chilly,
which made it even harder to skate, not that I knew how to. I kept on trying the whole time and
eventually go the hang of it, but I wasn t as

However, as a new member with a new product, electronic product in North American market, the
reputation is also an important attribute. Especially, quick delivery time is a key attribute for this
company, due to the demand of quick delivery in all markets. Moreover, the manufacturing process
of the new product, electronic product, on which our company will definitely focus, has a lot
demands. Such as, technology, innovation and quick delivery time even the ability to make the
product be the first one appearing in the market (other company, which is developing the same
product, may become our competitive opponents). Especially, technology is predicted to play the
most important role in the manufacturing process. On the other hand, the traditional cost system has
a lot of limitations. Traditional costing system focuses on the cost reduction and the efficiency,
particular the products with relatively few standardized components; Clifton, however, produces a
wide range of airplane components. In addition, nonfinancial aspects of
What Are The Inconsistencies In A Mystery Novel
How were the inconsistencies throughout the reading consistent with the theme of the novel?
Throughout the novel, many inconsistencies exist to show that in a mystery novel, mystery must be
a factor for the reader to experience, as well. In the novel, a murder becomes a mystery case. The
plot of the novel is to not only distinguish who committed the crime, but also, his/her rationale
behind doing so. In order to avoid the reader having to feel like a speculator, perhaps, Gabriel García
Márquez uses inconsistencies in writing to incite the confusion in the reader. This concept is best
explained through the New York Time literary criticism article entitled, MURDER MOST FOUL
AND COMIC (Michaels). Essentially, this criticism seeks to understand why exactly fallacies and
inconsistences are so prevalent in a novel that demands attention to detail. The first possible
explanation for this reoccurring event in Márquez s writing is the idea that if inconsistency, in life
and novels, bespeaks the unthinkable, then the inconsistency throughout the course of the novel is
symbolic and expressive of the theme deliberately or not. Essentially, in order to establish the
same mood and tone the characters face in the novel, Márquez structures her writing in a way that
leaves the plot as a mystery to the reader, as well (Michaels). Critic Leonard Michaels goes on in his
article to cite specific examples of inconsistencies being parallel to the idea of keeping the mood and
tone
General Darby s Influence
Great success comes from great leaders. One of the greatest military leaders in history, was a local
Fort Smith native named William O. Darby. Brigadier General William O. Darby s life and
leadership substantially influenced the United States Army in many ways. General Darby s creation
of the United States Army, Army Rangers was perhaps one of the greatest attributes to the United
Statesmilitary. William Darby s militaristic creation became incredibly substantial with the aid of
the following influences: the world at war, new and elite soldiers, operational invasions, and a
ceaseless legacy.
An extreme turmoil had been taking place during the early 1940 s. The world was at war. Many

Efforts to inhibit the advancement of German troops led the North African invasion. Major efforts
took place in halting German troops from occupying North African seaports. Spearheading the
invasion in the Port of Arzew, Algeria were Darby s First Ranger Battalion. This was accomplished
by executing a surprise night landing, silencing two gun batteries, and opening the way for the
capture of Oran. A night raid was conducted in Tunisia in 1943. The execution of the night raid took
place behind enemy lines in Sened Station. The purpose of this mission was to collect military
intelligence in order to terrorize the enemy. While American troops tried to pass through a crucial
mountain pass located in Djbel Ank, many soldiers were shot down. The First Ranger Battalion
rucked twelve miles under night fall to the height of Djbel Ank through rugged terrain in order to
surprise the enemy at dawn. Under the stealth of night, the Rangers were able to attack from the rear
while successfully capturing two hundred prisoners, now leading the way for American troops to
pass through to conquer in North
