In today s day and age, the fear of terrorism is not only a common sentiment, but is also a rising
subject of debate. In order to keep troops out of harm s way, the United States has looked for
alternate means of combatting terrorist organizations. Since September 11, 2001 the United States
has relied heavily on its men and women in uniform to prevent terrorism abroad. Technology of
today and the use of intelligence offer the United States alternate means of addressing terrorism. For
instance, drone strikes were called by former US CIA director Leon Panetta, the only game in town
in term of confronting or trying to disrupt the Al Qaeda leadership (ODLE, 2013). With the use of
typology, socioeconomic assistance, drones, diplomatic engagement and enhanced airline security
services, the use of military force is not the only way to prevent terrorism.
If our country wants to never send another son or daughter to war then we must first understand
who the terrorists are. Former President George Bush said we fight against poverty because hope is
an answer to terror (Lee 2011). On the other hand, there are studies that say the opposite, that
terrorism is not related to poverty. Poverty and education are very important factors of what violence
occurs. The lower the poverty and education the increased chances for violence.

School is Not a Prison I believe that children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the
way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside. This is the lyric of the popular song The
Greatest Love of All that Whitney Houston sang. Not only do the writers and the singer believe that
children are our future, but everyone does. Children are big influences that help maintain and
develop our country when they grow up. Therefore, children need to be educated well in order that
they all become well rounded, successful and contribute to society. However, educational system is
always a controversial topic that many people concern. In Against School, John Taylor Gatto who is
a schoolteacher names New York State Teacher of the Year gathers many evidences and personal
narrative in order to prove that educational system cripple our kids. Although educational system
does not create incentives for children to think critically, it does not promote conformity and
groupthink because it helps them to develop their capacity to achieve their goals and become a
useful part of society.

Recommendations and Conclusions

In conclusion of this case, we learned that leasing and purchasing items for the purpose of business
has different implications on the financial status of the company. This is especially true when the
terms for each are different.
Another point to consider is the future impact of either buying or leasing a piece of equipment has
on the future of the company. Does the company hope to depreciate the value of a purchased piece
of equipment and then gain some salvage value at the end. Could any salvage value come from
taking this approach? Would there be any potential buyers for the used equipment if it was yours to
sell at the end of a useful life? These are all questions to consider along with the NPV and terms and
payments and financial stability of the company when determining whether one should buy or lease
something.
I would recommend that Mr. Jeffries take all the analysis he can consider into account before
making his decision keeping in mind that the revenues and expenses he will generate will be the
same regardless of whether he leases or buys the carts. I would then pick the option with highest
NPV and with the payments for both principal and interest that make sense for his company.
