Union University Art Gallery Analysis
Union University Art Gallery plays host to several different artists galleries throughout the year,
for free and open to the public. Currently on display is Hodgepodge , a collection of about ten
canvases by Brian Bundren. While Bundren has been painting and displaying his artwork for quite
some time (his first gallery was in the mid 1990s!), Hodgepodge contains paintings only from 2013
2016. All of the artwork shows great precision and attention to detail. The colors are vibrant and
rich. That is not to say the colors were bright or cheerful (only one paintingwas particularly bright ),
but the colors were all pure and distinct. Most of the paintings, in my opinion, would fit under the
umbrella of surrealism. Walking into the gallery immediately starts to produce feelings of unease
and perhaps feelings of being threatened. The individual objects in the paintings are very realistic
but mashed together in unnatural ways. Only one painting, J.V. s Thunderbird , felt calm ; it did not
cause me to personally feel discomfort, even though it was not peaceful. It was a large canvas
displaying an underwater scene in bright blue. A Thunderbird was half visible along the bottom
edge of the canvas. A deep sea diver was present,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a muzzle, open and snarling, behind a few peonies. At first glance, it appears to be the
muzzle of a dog, but careful inspection of the shape of the nostrils, mandible, and placement of
what appears to be the eyes, it looks more to be a baboon, one of the great ape family. Pink peonies
(there are two in full bloom and one bud) commonly represents love and honor, while white peonies
(there is one at the bottom) represents shyness or bashfulness. For me, this painting shows that for
every good thing there is in the world, there is the other behind it: an oft uncontrollable, primal force
that is hidden beneath the
The Joy Of Running Research Paper
Running is a linear sport. Many runners spend a great deal of energy twisting their upper bodies,
fighting the efforts of the lower body. Think of the zipper line on a jacket running down the
center of your torso. If your hands cross that zipper line, the shoulders and the top half of the body
usually follow the hands. The torque created from the waist up is energy that could be used to
run faster. Periodically, glance down at the position of your hands at the front part of your arm
swing. If you see your thumb and forefinger, your hands are likely crossing the zipper line. A slight
adjustment is all that s needed. Hold your hands a little wider from your body, slightly wider than
your hips. As your arm swings back, think about reaching into your back pocket. This extends your
reach further in a straight line with less crossing over the zipper line. hen fatigued, our arm... Show

Tension in our forearms rises up to our shoulders and extends to the rest of our body. This tension
makes our hearts work harder to push oxygen rich blood into our muscles, resulting in more
wasted energy and, ultimately, a slower pace. To release this tension, think about holding an
imaginary potato chip without breaking it. If your fists are clenched so tightly that you can t
hold that chip, wiggle your fingers and loosen your grip. Body tension will reverse, allowing the
deliverance of more oxygen rich blood to our muscles with each heartbeat. We ll return to a
smoother, longer, more efficient stride, and more energy is saved for the finishing kick. Zipper
lines, chicken wings and potato chips are early warning signs of fatigue and inefficient running
form. By paying attention to our body s signals, each is easily and quickly corrected. Once
corrected, your endurance level will improve, you ll hold your pace for a longer period of time and
your good form will carry you through? to the finish line on race
Understanding Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Understanding Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and How it Effects Learning
Learning can be affected by many things that occur throughout a student s education career.
Therefore, has anyone ever thought of how a student s mental well being could affect their learning
process? The fact is, approximately 4 6% of youth nationwide will be diagnosed with Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder (PTSD) upon meeting the specific criteria due to experiencing a traumatic event that
includes symptoms such as reduced concentration and disturbing thoughts, which may rigorously
interfere with school performance (Kataoka, Langley, Wong, Baweja Stein, 2012). While these
percentages may seem small, it is still extremely important that students and instructors alike are
made aware of PTSD, its symptoms and effective treatments in order to provide support for one
another. Comprehension of the definition of PTSD is required when it comes to communication and
providing aid to an individual suffering from it. A common misconception of this disorder is that
only combat veterans bear psychological stress that affects their state of mind.
Although, that presently is not the case, the experiences of Vietnam Veterans did lead to the
disorders introduction into the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 3rd edition
(DSM III) in 1980 (Kato, Kawata Pitman, 2006). Since 1980, PTSD, (depicted by the National
Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) (n.d.) as an anxiety disorder that some people get
Early Jamestown Research Paper
Jamestown, Virginia also known as America s birthplace , went through many hardships and
adversities in its first years. The journey from London to the Chesapeake Bay alone, took four
months when it was only to take three. The rivalry and conflict happening in the ship itself only
made matters worse. Once the colonist arrived to what is now known as Virginia, their conditions
only worsened as food, water, and shelter were scarce. Unlike the Native Americans, the newly
arrived settlers were unprepared to sustain themselves with necessities needed to survive life in the
New World. They foolishly expected the Native Indians to welcome them with open arms upon their
arrival and be willing to supply them with food in exchange for jewels. Instead
Innovation Management
If you ever become a marketer, then your friend in the company should be the accountant

These were the words of advise given to me by my Marketing professor at Red McCombs School
of Business in University of Texas, Austin. I recall this statement every time I think of costs involved
in new product development or in every marketing endeavor I undertake.

The above words also applies to all persons leading an Innovation projects: Be it new product
development, process improvement or research.

In the world of innovation, accountants their contribution are one of the least appreciated. A success
/failure of an innovation project is credited to the project manager or product manager or the
development manager, but rarely the name of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When developing a plan for an innovation project, it is best to sit with an accountant and comeup
with a financial plan. Gather the financial information that determines the viability of the project, at
what levels of expenditure the projects become unviable, develop a plan to monitor the project
expenses and constantly review the viability of the project. To do all this, you have to work with the
accountant as a partner in progress.

Also remember this: Money speaks louder than ideas!

So if your idea is backed by the accountant, then people will listen to you.

Track all your Costs

Once a project is approved, then managers need to keep a close tab on the costs of the project. But
that s in an ideal world.
Reality in most organizations is that product/development managers have little clue of what their
current costs are, what their total costs is, and how much more money will they need to complete the
project. I have spoken to several development managers in several fortune 500 companies, and they
don t know their numbers, instead they will talk about the time frame of the project, head count etc.,
but not the numbers because they do not know the numbers and nobody in the organization will ever
tell them.

Smaller companies tend to do better. Managers in smaller companies know the costs and therefore
can take better and faster decisions.

Understanding all the costs is a

monosaccharides are absorbed into the blood stream. Blood sugar concentrations are controlled by
three hormones: insulin, glucagon, and epinephrine. If the concentration of glucose in the blood is
too high, insulin is secreted by the pancreas.Lipid metabolism are involved with Fatty Acid
Oxidation to produce energy or the synthesis of lipids which is called Lipogenesis. Lipid

ELECTRIC POWER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS ECE 5560

Abstract Distribution generation is the electricity generating technology adopted at the distribution
system level. There are times when then the supply of these sources of generation exceed demand
and in order to strike a balance between the supply and demand of electricity, we need to store the
excesses being generated into storage devices and also these storage devices can discharge their
stored energy to the grid when demand exceeds supply. When a survey was carried out by the utility
dive on electric utilities, fifty one percent (51%) identified Energy storage as one of the emerging
technologies. Therefore, in this paper, we will talk about the technologies utilized for distribution
generation storage and its applications in the distribution system.
Keywords distribution generation

I.INTRODUCTION
Distributed generation (DG), also known as on site generation, distributed resources (DR),
distributed energy resources (DER) or dispersed power (DP) is the use of small scale power
generation technologies located close to the load being served [2]. There are different types of
distribution generation technologies but the two main ones we will focus on are Photovoltaics and
wind turbines. These technologies have great benefits in distribution generation and their benefits go
beyond generating clean energy to supporting
