The Middle East Peace Process Essay
For too long, the citizens of the Middle East have lived in the midst of death and fear. The hatred
of a few holds the hopes of many hostage. The forces of extremism and terror are attempting to kill
progress and peace by killing the innocent. And this casts a dark shadow over an entire region,
President George W. Bush in his June 24, 2002 address to the nation.

The conflict between Israel and Palestine is just one of the many facets that have shaped modern
day politics in the Middle East. It is a conflict rooted in generations of violence, discrimination and
prejudice that is complicated by a history older than any of the modern day superpowers. Ever since

Keeping these thoughts in mind I will investigate some key issues that affect the progress towards
peace in the region including the relationship that exists between the United States and Israel; the
2002 Road Map to Peace and why it failed; and finally the effect of Arafat?s death and the
implications for the future.
The Relationship between Israel and the United States. The idea of ?special relationships? between
two countries has been used throughout history to describe the relations between the United States
and various other countries. Winston Churchill popularized the term in his ?Iron Curtain? speech in
1946, describing the ties between the United States and Great Britain as a ?special relationship.?
Any number of diplomatic alliances and relationships could be considered a special relationship;
however politicians and scholars tend to agree that the most special relationship in the international
system is the one that exists between the United States and Israel. President Jimmy Carter once
noted that ?we have a special relationship with Israel. It?s absolutely crucial that no one in our
country or around the world ever doubt that our number one commitment in the Middle East is to
protect the right of Israel to exist.? The nature of such a
American Muslim Women Today
The Quran is the text that guides the Islamic society, and is meant to be the everlasting word of
God. Given that the word of the Quran is the word of God, women in Islamic society should be
treated as equal with men. If women were given equal religious matters and independent legal status,
then in a society which revolves around religion, women should have the same rights as men. They
should also be given the freedom to make their own decisions pertaining to most issues. American
Muslim women today are struggling to address the stereotypes and misconceptions that come with
the role of being a woman in Islam. Muslim women occupy a large variety of important positions in
American life: medical doctors, engineers, lawyers, chemists, housewives, broadcast journalists,
professors, clerical workers, business women, schoolteachers. Some are immigrants, from countries
ranging from Saharan Africa to Indonesia, while many others were born in America; some American
Muslim women were raised in Muslim homes, while others... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Qur an and the practice of the Prophet Muhammad seem to recognize the different functions and
mutually supportive roles of men and women, encouraging an equal and balanced social and family
life. In seventh century Arabia, the Qur an extended the right of property ownership and financial
independence to women. It prohibited the practice of female infanticide and other abuses, and
significantly modified marriage and divorce practices. While many Americans consider Islam to be
an oppressive religion with regard to women, Muslim women often comment on the liberty and
dignity they extract from their faith. Many Muslim women say that true Islam is often compromised
by oppressive practices that have their roots in cultural differences or political expediency; general
ignorance and lack of engagement with the diversity inherited within the tradition contribute to the
continuation of these

College Students Are Well Known For Being Creative
College students are well known for being creative with ways to make money by creating new
products and services. A Massachusetts college student is facing pressure of getting discipline
actions for listing up his dorm room at Airbnb for renting as a way of making some money.
According to the article Emerson student could face disciplinary action after renting out his dorm
room on Airbnb from Boston.com, Jack Worth, a 19 year old sophomore studying visual and media
at Emerson College, provides his dorm roomsto three renters before he gets caught (Hoover, 2016).
The reporter uses both epideictic and pathos to lure readers attention about the story, but she neither
states her opinions over situation nor focuses on the target audience.
Firstly, Hoover successfully draws attention by using two methods to show two sides of the story.
She opens with pathos by stating the reason that leads Jack Worth to come across the idea of
renting out his room, Living in Boston isn t cheap, Emerson is a fantastic location; there is a high
level of interest of travel in this neighborhood because it s so centrally located, I saw this as a way
to make some money, but also help some people out (para 3). Hoover then uses epideictic by quoting
Emerson College as another side of the situation, The Emerson College Residence Hall policy and
the housing contract that undergraduate residents sign prohibit students from subleasing or renting

The Vase Told The Story Of Herakles And The Boar
For this writing assignment, I was given the Attic Black figure Lekythos. The vase told the story
of Herakles and the boar. The Lekythos is a cylindrical vase. The base color of the vase is orange.
The ink used turned black from when it was heated. The vase still contains most of the story;
however, a lot of the vase is faded. At the base of the vase, it gradually curves in. There is a solid
line going horizontally across the bottom of the vase. This line takes up half of the base. It is a
more tan colorbecause clay is pale and faded. At the top part of the base, it is hard to tell what was
originally there. It looks like it was just a solid blackcolor, but a lot of the ink has faded off. On the
right, the ink is completely gone. The rest of the base has spots where the ink is fade. Above the
base is the face of the vase. This is where the story is shown. From the base, it curves out. Here it
seems like it was supposed to be completely black, but it has the same problem the base has. The
right side is faded out, and the left side has multiple spots were the ink has faded off. Once it
reaches an inch below the story, it stops curving out. There is a thin orange horizontal line going
across. It looks to accurate to be from the ink fading. The artist must have come back in and made
the line. Then there is a black horizontal line bigger than the orange line. The ink here has faded,
though, leaving orange spots scattered throughout. On top of the

Only 35 people per 1000 own cars in China which compared to the United States, 600 per 1000,
shows there is ample room for growth in the market. Most major car manufacture has a presence
in the market, but political forces limit the penetration of these companies. According to report in
Business source complete, the Chinese government is even pressuring domestic companies to
grow and force out foreign competition. But this goal of the Chinese government cannot be
realized until the smaller local manufactures can somehow combine so they may compete with
larger foreign firms. 3) Environmental issues are also a main concern within the industry. This
issues stems from two areas Gasoline and CO2 emissions. Gasoline a major factor pertaining not
only to the consumption of cars but also the type of car that is demanded by consumers. While
the United States gasoline prices are relatively lower than other nations, car producers world wide
are still producing different cars in the wake of high gas prices. The low emission car is the new
fad in the industry and has jointly led to the production of the alternative resources cars. The
combination of high gas prices and threat of damaging the environment from combustible engines
has increased the consumer s demands for automobiles to run off of alternative resources. This new
development plays well into the strengths of GM because General Motors is already heavily
devoted to R amp;D.
The Central Bank Of Jamaica
The two financial institutions that will be compared and contrast are the European Central (ECB),
and the central bank of Jamaica, the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ). Being a native of Jamaica, I will start
off with some background information on the BOJ. The Bank of Jamaica, established by the Bank
of Jamaica Law (1960), began operations in May 1961. The establishment of the Central Bankwas in
recognition of the need for an appropriately regulated financial structure to encourage the
development process, particularly as Jamaica was about to embark on the road to political
independence. The main objectives of the Central Bank were defined by the Bank of Jamaica Act to

Essay philosophy of education
Progressivism

My personal philosophy of education is most closely related to progressivism, which is a school of

thought advocating that truth is determined by function. Progressivism is an educational philosophy
focused on providing students with the skills and knowledge necessary not only to survive but also
to succeed in a contemporary and competitive society. William James and John Dewey are accredited
for developing the characteristically American philosophy of education that is progressivism.

As the name suggests, progressivism is a philosophy that is adaptable for society s current state. It is
a philosophy that promotes education aimed at helping students to develop the kind of problem
solving skills that will enable them to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In line with the progressivism philosophy, the role of the teacher is to facilitate learning by posing
questions for students that exercise their minds in a practical manner. Teachers are responsible for
the preparation of students for the real world and it is within the classroom setting that teachers
must recreate problems that exist in society and guide students in the direction of solving these
problems. Teachers of the progressivism philosophy encourage creative thinking as well as analytic
thinking. The questions they pose for their students are often open ended questions that may or may
not have prescribed answers. Progressivism is centered on an ever changing society, and so today s
problems constantly become more intricate and complex, demanding that students use creativity and
ingenuity to find the most viable solution. Teachers act as liaisons between the shelter of childhood
and the harshness of the real world, and it is their responsibility to introduce the reality of being a
productive member of society to their students and the expectations as well as obstacles that lay
before them on their path to success in the real world.

The teaching methods used in a progressivism classroom support the idea of problem based learning
wherein the student is required to develop original solutions to existing or potential societal
problems. Together with the teacher and classmates, students are given the opportunity to speculate
Jewish Culture Research Paper
For this assignment, I decided to focus on the country of Israel. Although I am Jewish, I do not
know that much about the culture of Israel and those who live or have lived there. Luckily, some
of my family has come over to the US from Israel, so it was easy for me to think of someone to
interview. Michal Atkins is my first cousin once removed by marriageand currently lives in Los
Angeles, California.

Michal came to the US first to study Occupational Therapy. Her immediate family is in Israel and not
in the US, but her uncle, aunt and all her first cousins are in the US. Some were born here after
their parents fled from Germany in the 1930s because of the Nazis. She came here to live

Her husband s family (the Bram s) was very welcoming to her from the beginning; because they
shared the same traditions, it was easier on her. She did miss Israel a lot, but it became better
after she had kids. Since she studied here earlier, she knew English well. Additionally, she found a
lot of similarities between living here and in Israel and that too made it easier, such as a melting
pot of nationalities, the same hot climate, and people being open and mostly friendly. Her
professional life as occupational therapist also helped because she studied here and received my
professional certification here and was able to begin working right away. She became involved with
professional activities from the day she arrived and still
The State Of California s Financial Report
In the second half of this paper, I will analyze is the State of California s Financial Report. The
government is not a nonprofit, although they are quite similar; therefore, the government s financial
report will be evaluated using different methods and from different perspectives. To get a broad
overview of this government, first, the financial position and economic condition of the State of
Californiawill be evaluated. Then, things with more depth, such as budget planning, funds, and
infrastructure, will be discussed.
As taxpayers, people are required to pay imposed taxes and derived taxes. Since payments are not
voluntary as opposed to nonprofits, people want to know where the government currently stands,
whether it has sufficient revenues for efficiently running current public services, and how much it
has improved compared to last year. Examining government wide financial statements will give
readers a basic understanding of the government s condition. The government wide financial
statements consist two parts: the statement of net position and the statement of activities. Based on
the statement of net position, in 2015, the State of California has a deficit of about $41.0 billion.
Compared to the past 10 fiscal years, the fiscal year of 2015 has the least amount of total
governmental activity net position and total primary government net position. In addition, the
unrestricted deficit as a percentage of total assets is 75.64%, which is close to 100%. This number
The Moral Implications Of The Us Invaded Iraq
Carl Von Clausewitz was a Prussian Military Theorist in the early eighteen hundred`s who focused
on the moral implications of war. He once said War is the mere continuation of politics by other
means , a statement that has become all too relevant in the twenty first century. This paper will serve
to analyze why the US invaded Iraqin 2003, discussing the underlying agenda of the Bush
administration at the time compared to what information was given to the public. First, evaluating
how the Bush administration used propaganda to vilify the Iraqi regime as terrorists and convince
the US public that invading Iraq was clearly for pre emptive self defense. This section shows how

the success of Bush s PR War . . . was largely dependent on a compliant press that uncritically
repeated almost every fraudulent administration claim about the threat posed to America by
Saddam Hussein (Altheide Grimes 2005: 1420). Any politician or news source that tried to
provide other information on the matter stating that these claims were not necessarily true fell on
deaf ears. Counterclaims by others, including U.S. senators, were dismissed by the White House
and received little press or broadcast attention (Altheide Grimes 2005: 1420). The power of
patriotism proved to be very powerful at convincing the public, such that, anyone who tried to
claim going to war with Iraq was unjust and unfounded was regarded as unpatriotic by their fellow
Americans and cast aside along with their opinions. Claiming that Saddam Hussein and the Iraqi
regime were terrorists themselves helped the US government convince its people that Invading Iraq
was justified; while labeling the Iraq regime as terrorists dehumanized them and made it easier for
the US publics fears to be directed as anger and hate. This fear derived hate from the American
populous, which was further propelled by mass media aided in greenlighting the invasion of Iraq
even when there was no decisive evidence supporting the claims that the Bush
