Main Factors of Product Pricing in the Uk
Discuss the main factors affecting product pricing in the UK?
The Oxford English dictionary defines price as a value that will purchase a definite quantity,
weight, or other measure of a good or service . Simply put, the price of an object represents the
overall demand for that product at a specific time. However, every firm had a different ideology
about price and they way they set price.
One of these main factors that affect price is the actual objective of the firm. Traditional theory
suggests that firms will charge a profit maximizing price where price is determined when marginal
cost equals marginal revenue.
They operate to seek a maximum return on the investment and costs they have input. The diagram
below shows how firms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However most firms in the UK do not operate in these kinds of structures. An oligopoly is a more
realistic market structure that most UK firms operate in. It is a market structure that is dominated
by two or more firms that sell a range of similar branded products who are price makers.
Due to the high concentration ratios (function of number of firms and respective shares of total
production (Anon. Oligopolies. Available: http://www.economicshelp.org/dictionary/c/concentration
ratios.html. Last accessed 6th Nov )) and the fact that oligopolistic firms share market power, pricing
theory is heavily based on interdependence between firms. Firms are likely to collaborate on
pricing decisions so as to earn monopoly profits and deter new entrants from ruining the fun .
Formal collusion are referred to as cartels e.g. OPEC. They decide what price to set and what
quantity to produce so as each member receives the maximum gains. However, there are cases
where members cheat and undercut the price, maximizing their revenue e.g. Iran and Nigeria in the
early 1980 s cut oil prices to earn more market share. (Sloman, Wride (2009). Economics. 7th ed.
London: Pearson. p58.)
In tacit collusion (informal collusion), the dominant firm or the firm with the most market power
usually sets the collaborated price e.g. Brooke Bond was the market leader in the late 1960 s in the
tea market, and all other firms matched its price. (Sloman, Wride
Afro-Ecuadorian Research
In Afro Ecuadorian communities throughout Ecuador, the focus of intercultural education programs
materialized in many initiatives in the educational communities. At the school level, Afro
Ecuadorian policy leaders established two instructional institutions as the pioneers of ethno
educational studies in Ecuador: These are the Simon Bolivar University masters program in Afro
Andina studies in Quito and the high schoolprogram at the Colegio Nacional in the Cho Mira Valley
region. There purpose was to foment scholarly research of the discourse of Afro Ecuadorian
educational experiences throughout the country. Leaders also developed similar initiatives at the
primary level as well (Johnson, 2014)..

In the first workshop, Garcia used riddles as a pedagogical tool to show how oral tradition has,
produced and reproduced knowledge specific to the region of Esmeraldas (Johnson, 2014).
Johnson (2014) provides an example of one such riddle where he ask listeners to guess an object
by citing the following riddle: Heaven above, heaven below, indispensable for food and good for
curing sickness. At the end of the riddle, Garcia cited that the answer to the riddle was indeed the
coconut A fruit that holds significance in the province of Esmeraldas as it a staple in the diet of the
locals (Johnson, 2014). However, the significance of the coconut in the region is not merely limited
to diet; the people of Esmeraldas also use coconuts to keep repel mosquitoes, repair canoes, and cure
sickness. Therefore, the riddle posed by Garcia in the workshop, formed on the collective knowledge
of the Esmeraldas community, is meant to educate listeners on the significance of the coconut within
the economic and cultural structure of the region and how oral tradition has maintained Afro
Ecuadorians awareness of this resource throughout colonialism to the present(Johnson, 2014). Thus,
Garcia in this workshop uses this simple riddle to repudiate principles of the traditional educational
model in Ecuador that perpetuate the notion that Afro Ecuadorians have contributed little or nothing
to the
Matilda The Musical Analysis
Family friendly, heart tugging, hilarious, energy filled, Matilda the Musical does it all in this
unbelievable performance and is a must see for everyone. The humor is perfect for all ages and
will have everyone laughing, but at the same time still has little remarks that go over the kid s
head. Matilda the Musical is currently playing in the beautiful Cambridge Theatre in London s West
End and the set and special of effects of the Matilda are a little unnecessary at times, but still
impressive nonetheless. This show will have you laughing and talking about the performance for
days to come!
Based on Roald Dahl s novel, Matilda is the story of an unwanted girl born to abusive parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Wormwood, that want nothing to do with her. The incredible conniving Mr. Wormwood,
played by David Birch, is a used car salesman who will sell a lemon to anyone to make some quick
cash. Mrs. Wormwood, played by Marianne Benedict, is so caught up in her ballroom dancing
championships that she totally neglects the fact that she is so visibly pregnant. However, the child
she gives birth to is Matilda Wormwood and she is an exceptional little girl with mind powers and an
innate ability to read and tell stories. Later on Matilda is sent to a dreadful school under the
leadership of the callous headmaster, Miss Trunchbull. Miss Trunchbull, played by David Shannon,
is tyrannical and merciless in her approach to dealing with children and even goes as far to say the

The Enlightenment Period In America
Out of this week s reading, the one thing that I came to admire was the enlightenment period. The
Enlightenment period began because of small groups. Men would meet in coffeehouses and the
women would meet in salons. People could slow down, talk and dream. This caused a movement of
people taking their dreams and ideas to a reality. This movement sparked the future of the world.
This began the Scientific Revolution and the Glorious Revolution. With havening a movement of
this scale, it could not be contained to one place. It expanded to France and eventually the Americas.
The advancement in technology cased the western world to expand and lead to the form of the
Americas. People began to travel based on their enlightenment and need for freedom.
Advantages And Characteristics Of Chitosan
Chitosan (CS) is the second generous linear polysaccharide and a cationic polyelectrolyte present in
nature. CS has depicted convenient biocompatibility and increasing membrane permeability
characteristics both in vitro and in vivo and can be degraded by lysozyme in serum. On account of
its mucoadhesive and permeability, CS has the potential of serving as an adsorption enhancer across
intestinal epithelium and it was an illustrated biopharmaceutical fact. CS also enhance insulin
absorption without injuring human intestinal epithelial (Caco 2) cells. In the pharmaceutical
industry, CS has several uses such as preparing films, beads, intragastric floating tablets,
microspheres, and nanoparticles. The research explains the importance of size and... Show more

Italian And Italian Folk Music
Italian Folk Culture Music Italian folk music reflects the area s history, language, and its ethnic
composition. Italian folk music can identify the region, it is from. In the North the music is
symbolic with intelligible lyrics and a very strict tempo compared to the Southern region, which
has a more stained vocal style (Italian Music). Folk music began developing with the shift from
writing in Latin to Italian around 12th century Italy (Italian Music). Italy s diverse variety of folk
music represents the cultural uniqueness and each s regions own individuality. Folk Songs A

Venesia adio the music is started with bells and then is not again unaccompanied with an
instrument for the rest of the song. Although this song does not feature many instruments other
Italian folk songs do. One is bells used during New Year s Eve and Carnival, to expel evil spirts;
these bells are more commonly known as cow bells. The high pitched clear sounded bells are
accompanied by percussions different folk songs during a precession and other loud metal
objects like pots (Musical Instruments from Calabria). During Holy Week a tràccola, tree frog
and curettage are used similar to how the cow bell is used during Carnival and New Year s Eve.
The tree frog is a wooden cane with a tongue like put on top of a wheel to create a scrapping,
clicking sound (Musical Instruments from Calabria). The tràccola is multiple wooden boxes with in
each other along with gears the whole instrument is operated by a wooden hand crank on the
outside; it makes a similar sound to the tree frog but only louder (Musical Instruments from
Calabria). Being the loudest instrument in all of Holy week making an interesting mix of sounds.

Little Red Riding Hood Analysis
A Victim of Violence: Little Red Riding Hood When imaging the ideal audience of fairytales,
children are quick to come to mind, although, our perception of Little Red Riding Hood as an
innocent fable is far from the truth. Alternatively, the origins of this story are derived from Italo
Calvino s The False Grandmother , a story immersed in symbolism and metaphorical symbols
intended strictly for a mature audience. The preceding tale was Little Red Cap written by Charles
Perrault and then later the Little Red Riding written by the Brothers Grimm. Although the details of
these tales vary, they all maintain similar storylines. The stories revolve around the young female
character Little Red Riding Hoodwho is sent off on a mission to bring her grandmother a basket of
goods. During her adventure she encounters a wolf who engages in a hot pursuit to eat both the
Grandmother and Little Red Riding Hood, only to succeed in the earlier rendition of the story. In
this essay I will prove that when the Grimm s Brothers and Perrault s Little Red Riding Hood
stories are critically analyzed, it becomes evident that they are inappropriate tales for children as
they exemplify the consequences of a minor transgression by Little Red Riding Hood as being the
misleading cause of the violence and seduction that occurs thereafter.
Charles Perrault s, Little Red Cap places emphasis on the contrasting character traits of the
protagonist Little Red Riding Hood and the antagonist the Wolf.
