Accounting Cycle
The purpose of this assignment is to select a step in the accounting cycle that is not currently
automated at one of our team members organization. The place of business we have selected is an
independent financial brokerage firm, LPL Financial. The firm places a strong emphasis on the
recruiting of established financial advisors throughout the country. When a financial advisor joins
LPL Financial, so does their clients. One of our team member s works in the transfer department.
The transfer department handles the transferring of accounts held at other financial institutions into
LPL Financial. The transfer department handles various types of securities including stock, mutual
funds, bonds, retirement accounts, and cash. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are highly confident that this new system would complete and support the audit trail of incoming
mutual fund transfers at LPL Financial. As stated in chapter 2, an audit trail of transactions
maintained within a company s system enables information users to follow the flow of data We
would first concentrate on the automation and the support of mutual fund transfers. However,
eventually, the database would support all incoming and outgoing transfers. This new database
would integrate information from both the Accorde System and the BETA System. The 3 systems
would be able to communicate and relay both client and transfer information. This would alleviate
any inaccurate information and the inefficiency of the entering of information. An example of the
new process is as follows:
1.A client fills out transfer forms to request the transfer of five mutual funds.
2.The forms are delivered to LPL and received and imaged by the Accorde System.
3.An employee in the transfer department reviews the image of the transfer form and information is
verified off of the BETA System.
4.Information such as client name, SS#, and LPL account info from BETA and Accorde is
transmitted to the new database.
5.The mutual fund information (CUSIP and # of shares) is entered onto the new database by an
employee.
6.The newly entered mutual fund information would be
Persuasive Essay About Buying A Car
In today s day and age of rapidly changing technology and ways of shopping, preparing to buy a
vehicle can be a daunting task. What app should I download? Am I finding the best deals? Should
I buy new or used? These are all very common questions to most people when they are preparing to
buy a vehicle. The information is out there and attainable, you just have to know how to find it.
Last year I had the opportunity to buy a vehicle, but my father also wanted me to learn about
money in this process. I was very excited to get a new truck so he didn t have to push very hard to
get me to start looking, but he did give me some pointers along the way.
Before I started looking at dealerships I researched heavily what vehicle I wanted. Obviously ...

Finally, I wanted my truck to look good. I wanted a grey or black truck with off road tires and a
leveling kit.
I shopped around using apps and websites like auto trader, cars.com, Edmunds, and pretty much
any other online resource I could find. I was trying to prevent going to a dealership and paying
more for a lesser truck than I could find on my own. I knew if I was patient enough I would find
the vehicle I wanted in my price range. In fact, the only time I visited a dealership was to test
drive a Tundra to make sure it is what I wanted. I checked multiple apps every single day for
months looking for the perfect truck to come along at the right price. It seemed like I would
never find a vehicle that fit what I wanted and was in my price range. I was preparing to give up
one of my options to save money, but my father encouraged me to keep waiting. He said eventually
the right truck would come along. Finally, it did. I ended up getting the exact vehicle I wanted: A
2015 Black Toyota Tundra with a 5.7L V8 engine, Crew Cab, with four wheel drive and a leveling
kit. Most of the trucks in that category were way out of my budget, but this one was at a price that
was 20 percent less than the list price on Kelly Blue Book. It may have been good luck, or that
someone typed in the wrong number online, or my patience.

Essay on New Orleans Levees
For years now the discussions have arose about the levee systems in America and how some are
not safe and need to be replaced. This problem has been focused on the levee system in New
Orleans. Many engineers and other people have asked the question whether or not the present levee
system in New Orleans could withstand a huge wave or a direct hit from a powerful hurricane. These
questions were answered when Hurricane Katrinahit New Orleans as a Category 3 hurricane which
isn t even the most powerful. After the hurricane hit the leveesystem failed and there were many
breaches in the system, which lead to the flooding of most of the city. My question is what could
have been done to stop this disaster from happening and what now can be... Show more content on

Back in the 1800 s there were severe floods in New Orleans that displaced their residents more
than one. The floods occurred in 1816, 1823, and 1849. The levees back then were roughly in the
same places that the levees are during Katrina. During the 1849 flood, many residents homes were
flooded for up to 40 days (Colten 3). In the same article, Colten also says, that almost 2,000 homes
and 12,000 residents were the ones displaced. In response to this flood, like others before and
after, officials raised the levee height and thereby encouraged additional urbanization on the
floodplain (Colten 3). So obviously over the years New Orleans has not learned and the tradegy
will just keep happening. It has happened countless times and still I can t stress it enough of how
much New Orleans hasn t learned by their mistakes. This is not opinion this is fact, it is written
fact that the same problem keeps occurring at the same place, the same way but different time
after time. In 1915, another major hurricane hit New Orleans and over two meters of water was
stuck in the bowl levees built around the city. This huge mass of water overwhelmed the NEW
city pumps and contributed to the damage of around 20,000 buildings (Colten 3). And again in
1947 a major hurricane hit New Orleans again and flooded fairly new Jefferson Parish, and after the
storm the flood water didn t go back down again it pooled in the bowl of
Female Athlete Triad Essay
The female athlete triad is a health condition in which active women experience three inter related
disorders due to unhealthy body weight and eating habits. In the case of the triad, the word active
refers to females who display moderate to high intensity levels of performance. The rate of
performance must be high in order to counterbalance the decrease in calorie intake. Females who
perform at a high intensity are at risk for the triad since they do not take in enough calories to fulfill
the amount expended. The three disorders within the female athlete triadare osteoporosis, disordered
eating, and menstrual dysfunction. Not all females experience all three of the conditions, however
new data has indicated that even having one or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Low bone mineral density can result in stress fractures within a female s body (6). Female athletes
with menstrual dysfunction often display low levels of the reproductive hormones estrogen and
progesterone. When the levels of these hormones are low, it is difficult for bones to retain calcium
which causes a gradual loss of bone mass. It has been proven that when comparing amenorrhic
athletes to athletes with regular menstrual cycles, the bone mineral density if reduced by 14% in
amenorrhic athletes and 27% in regular athletic women (7). All three conditions result in serious
health and body conditions which can decrease a female s ability to participate in physical activities.
The female athlete triad is considered to be a significant health concern. In relation to the female
athlete triad, some women are more prone to the condition than others. Sports that emphasize
performance based on weight specifications increase the prevalence of the female athlete triad.
Women who participate in sports such as ballet, figure skating, gymnastics, diving, and other
aesthetic component sports have a higher risk of developing aspects of the female athlete triad in
addition to women who participate in sports that involve weight classes such as tae kwon do, judo,
wrestling, rowing, and equestrian (6). Most female athletes who participate in either high intensity
or endurance exercise have a greater chance of developing the triad. Studies have shown that women

Comparing Wackenroder, August Schlegel, And Percy Shelley
The era of Romanticism began as a rebellious response to the Enlightenment era. Three different
authors Wilhelm Wackenroder, August Schlegel, and Percy Shelley allude to the Romantic
significance of poetry and conceptualize poetry as the language of the people. In their documents
presented in Breckman s European Romanticism: a Brief History with Documents, they explore
poetry and the impact it has on the people and Romanticism and persuade their readers to connect
with nature and art. In his essay, Wackenroder decides that words are God s gift to humanity;
language comes from Heaven (44). He arrives at this conclusion through Biblical references in which
Adam, the first man, was given the power to name everything on Earth under God.
Uses of Personality Testing
Personality Testing Personality testing is used in many areas of psychology. Organizational
psychologists use personality testing to determine fitness for employment positions; clinical
psychologists may use the tests in the treatment of their clients; and school psychologists as well
as school counselors may use the tests in career counseling with their students. In addition,
individuals may use these test to discover information about their own personalities. While the
use of these is fairly widespread; the validity of these assessments remains a controversial issue,
especially since they typically require the subject being tested to self report a response. This
paper will compare two such assessments: a version of the Myers Briggs Types Inventory
(MBTI), the Reinhold Cognitive Style Inventory, and the Big Five inventory which assesses the
Big Five Personality Traits. Finally, it will examine the convergent validity of these two
inventories. The MBTI sorts people into groups based on their preferences for mental processes
and mental orientations (Reinhold, 2011). Reinhold explains that there are two mental processes
for which people have preferences. The first is how we take in information, and the second is how
we make decisions. According to the MBTI, people either take in information by sensing (S) or by
intuition (I), and people make decisions by either thinking (T) or feeling (F). The two mental
orientations for which we have preferences are Energy Orientation and
Gilded Age Essay
In 1873 Mark Twain and Charles Warner wrote the novel, The Gilded Age: A Tale of of Today.
The term the Gilded Age was later used for the era in American history that began in 1870 and
lasted until 1900. This was a fitting description for this era because America appeared to be a great
and amazing country, however many critics pointed out that the country has lots of poverty,
corruption, crime, and great separations of wealth between the rich and the poor. The Gilded Agewas
rapidly growing in industry because of all of the inventions that were created. The cities grew in size
which brought a high demand of housing. As a result of more housing skyscrapers, created by
Andrew Carnegie, and mansions were built. At this time cultural activity... Show more content on

Reforms began to organize to help the urban poor and formed organizations, such as The Social
Gospel Movement, the Salvation Army, the YMCA, the settlement house, and women s clubs.
The Social Gospel Movement worked to better the conditions in cities applying the biblical ideas
of charity and justice. The movement inspired many churches to build gyms, provide social
programs and child care, and help the poor. The Salvation Army and the YMCA also combined
faith and an interest in reform. The Salvation Army offered practical aid and religious counseling
to the urban poor. The YMCA helped industrial workers and the urban poor by organizing Bible
studies, citizenship training, and group activities. They also provided low cost boarding houses for
young men. Dwight L. Moody, the president of the Chicago YMCA, felt the way to help the urban
poor was redeeming their souls and character, and not providing them service, like the Social
Gospel and Social Darwinism proposed how to help the poor. The settlement house movement
provided numerous community services such as medical care, child care, libraries, and classes in
English. Jane Addams opened Hull House in Chicago in 1889. Lillian Wald founded the Henry
Street Settlement in New York City. Theses two women were very powerful and effectful in the
settlement house movement and in social
A Report On A Cox Model
A Cox model is a statistical method used for exploring the relationship between the survival of a
patient and several risk variables. A Cox model provides an estimate of the therapeutic procedure
effect on survival after adjustment for other explanatory variables. It allows to estimate the risk
of mortality, or other events of interest, for patients, given their prognostic variables. Cox model
analysis involves examining the coefficients for each variable. A positive regression coefficient
for an explanatory variable means that the hazard for patient having a high positive value on that
particular variable is high. Conversely, a negative regression coefficient implies a better prognosis
for patients with higher negative values of that variable. Cox s method does not assume a
distribution for the survival times, but it rather assumes that the effects of the different variables
on survival are constant over time and are additive at some level or scale [17]. The hazard function
is the probability that an individual will experience an event (like mortality) within some time
interval, given that the individual has survived up to the beginning of the interval. In this model the
unique effect of a per unit increase in a variable is assumed to be multiplicative with respect to the
hazard rate [18]. For example, following a certain therapeutic procedure may reduce one s hazard
rate for mortality by one half. Thus in order to convert this multiplicative problem to additive we tend
Mad Cous Disease or Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy Essay
Although mad cow disease is always fatal, it is not really much of a worry in the United States.
There have only been four cases of mad cow disease ever recorded in the United States. In every
case, the United States Department of Agriculture has intervened and recalled tons of beef,
10,400 lbs. in the first case to be exact, in order to insure that the meat did not reach the plates of
United States citizens. In Canada, however, there have been 19 cases of mad cow disease. This
differs considerably from that of the United States. The interesting thing about all of the disease is
that the first case of mad cow disease was imported. The first case of mad cow disease in Canada
was from a cow imported from the United Kingdom. Then, the first... Show more content on

With this being said, mad cow disease is also always fatal. Any cow that has ever been diagnosed
with mad cow disease has died from the disease. I, personally, am surprised that doctors have not
been able to at least slow down the effects of this disease. So, without needing to be said, mad cow
disease is a cow s biggest nightmare. The effects of mad cow disease on cattle are very obvious. This
disease is not one in which you see a cow grazing and it looks perfectly fine, but a disease in which
the cow looks as if it has no control over its own body and mindlessly wanders around. That is
because having no control over its own body is exactly what happens. As you may or may not know,
cows tend to stay pretty closely together in a field. Well, a cow with mad cow disease will not
necessarily stay with the herd. It may wander off completely from the herd for no apparent reason at
all. You may also see a mad cow disease ridden cow stagger and miss steps. This is just another sign
of mad cow disease in cattle. When a cow gets certain types of sicknesses or illnesses, it may lose
weight. Well, the same can be said for a cow with mad cow disease. As a result of the cow losing a
lot of weight, it will also become very weak and it may also become hard for it to hold itself up for
very long. Now, I m not saying that any cow that loses weight because of an illness has mad cow
disease, but it is one of the effects
