Viable Curriculum Response
Is VCAL a viable curriculum response for non academic learners?
Given the broadness of the question, I shall limit the discourse of this paper to reviewing VCAL as
an intervention measure for getting the non academic students who are at risk of leaving to
complete their Year 12, and
an alternate pathway to increase their employability, via the acquisition of knowledge and skills for
the workplace a key approach to achieving lifelong learning (Chapman, Gaff, Toomey, Aspin, 2005).
The Background...
In 2000, the Kirby Ministerial Review Committee has revealed the need for an alternate post
compulsory certification, the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL). This comes about
because of a concern over a burgeoning number of students ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The damage and trauma sustained by some students in the mainstream education may prove to be
too severe that by the time they get to VCAL, they are almost unreachable. The batters of failures
and rejections... and disengagements, year after year, result in low academic achievement, conflict
with teachers and poor attendance (VAGO, 2012). We can blame it on poor attitudes; but I think
this may well be just a self preservation mechanism to protect themselves from further ridicule and
shame. In such severe cases, an early intervention program at the middle school may prove more
effective, as addressed in the Future Directions policy (DCPD,
The Chicago Blues, A Style Of Blues
Chicago Blues
The Chicago blues was a style of blues that developed, as the name suggests, in Chicago. It was a
more modern type of blues and came about after the Great Migration of the 1900s. More than half a
million African Americans migrated from the Mississippi Delta and headed north, towards cities like
Chicago and Detroit (Public Broadcasting Service, 2015).
The Great Migration was a mass migration of African Americans from the south to northern states,
as stated earlier. They moved in search of jobs in the more industrial sector of the United States and
took the culture of blues music in the Mississippi Delta with them (About.com, 2015). The migrants
evolved the Delta Blues style and turned it into Chicago blues by taking the guitar ... Show more

FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT (FDI) IN MALAYSIA

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in its classic form is defined as a company from one country
making a physical investment into building a factory in another country. It is the establishment of an
enterprise by a foreigner. More specifically, foreign direct investment is a cross border corporate
governance mechanism through which a company obtains productive assets in another country .Its
definition can be extended to include investments made to acquire lasting interest in enterprises
operating outside of the economy of the investor. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Malaysia is set
up following the holding of at least 10% of the total equity in a resident company by a non resident

Any actions by individuals who try to incite racial tensions are dealt with strongly. Strong conflict
is largely avoided although political power, largely being held by the Malays who with other
indigenous Malaysians call themselves Bumiputera, or Sons of the Soil is used to increase their
status in the Malaysian economy and other areas. Malaysia travel is safe and tourists will not feel
in anyway threatened. Malaysians are generally friendly, and when asked for directions, will
obligingly point you to your destination. There is a fairly large expatriate community working and
living in Malaysia, especially centered in Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. It should be noted
however that in April 2000, terrorist group Abu Sayyaff of the Southern Philippines kidnapped 20
hostages from the island of Sipadan, off the East coast of Sabah, including a number of tourist. The
hostages were eventually released after nearly five months. Since then, security has increased on
this island and the surrounding waters. While terrorism has reared its ugly head once in Sipadan,
Malaysia has been able to contain terrorism due to its diligence and swift action against any
individuals or groups involved. Airport security has increased and a few more policemen posted on
certain embassies, other than that, the rest of Malaysia maintain its peaceful lifestyle.

Injustice In My Oedipus Complex
Hence, Greene portrays Jerome as a warden with no fear of troubles to mollify the anger inside
him for what he suffered from his friends. Looking at Jerome, people can visualize a part of
Greene s life. Another point needed to mention is that Greene was sent to London for
psychotherapy due to his mental and emotional problems (Encyclopedia of world biography,
2017). Just like Greene, Jerome also has mental illness or even depression which is clearly proven
by his reaction when he heard about his father s new. Jerome was unfeeling about the death of his
father, he even did not cry or surprise at all. Certainly, the imagery of Jerome not only exposes the
aspiration of the author but reflect the inmost feelings of him.
Additionally, each author has their own way setting characters and telling the story either by the
third point of view or the first point of view to make the best effect on readers. The meaning of
point of view it self is something refers to the story which is told or it also can be said that point
of view is a strategy, technique, that purposely chosen by the writer to show their idea of their story

A Tune-Up Procedure
What is a tune up?
When you get a tune up for your bike several things happen. They clean your bike, inspect the brake
system, watch your wheels, inspect the drivetrain, check the tires, check the cables, and then the
added lubricant.

Why is an annual tune up necessary?

It is necessary because if you ride your bike often then your cables will be stretched and your brake
will become misaligned. If you don t tune up your bike your bike will have a lot higher chance of
parts of your bicycle could break.

Cleaning Your Bike:

Cleaning your bike takes a lot more work than what you may think. There are several supplies that
you need to make sure you clean right. To clean the tubes on your bike you will need soapy water
and a rag to clean the tubes

Countless countries around the world have so much to offer when it comes to exhibiting their
sacred places, but none comes close in comparison to the beauty and astonishing set ups of the
Mexico s sacred sites. What makes a place sacred is the rich, extraordinary history that is behind
the creation of it and all that it s known for, just as the sacred sites of Mexico. Residents of this
country, highly value these places and have great dedication to the religious beliefs that surround
the entire meaning of them all. For example, the Mayan Culture has a well known sacred place,
the Cenote Sagrado, where they go to pray to the God they worship, please and to fulfill all his

throughout many individuals. Its significance has a meaning that the Mayan race today, after

4. The state of Arkansas was the first to have such a system, so it has a competitive edge in
attracting new business to the state. Explain why can this advantage be sustained when other states
will use a similar system in the future?
Answer: One big advantage for the state of Arkansas is that the product in offered is first of its
kind and as such has an edge over other states. As discussed in Answer 1, GeoStor which used by
private sector will offer incentives for these companies to relocate as opposed to states that do not
offer such services. As such competition will automatically be at a disadvantage. First time use4rs
of this system will have a competitive advantage as they become competitive necessities which are
required by every organization. Some of the examples are online package tracking, buying of
concert ticket and reserving seats for transport. 5. Can any GIS data be combined with GPS data?
For what uses?
Answer: Not all GIS data can be combined along with GPS data especially static GIS data.
It can be used by a company to portray GIS to about products, available at different locations,
discount on the product. This gives a static picture intended to get the customers coming in. For this
purpose GPS data is of little use. In majority of cases though, GIS is used along with GPS data in
Should The Federal Government Continue Funding Planned...
Should the Federal Government continue funding Planned Parenthood? Planned Parenthood is an
organization that has been around since at least 1921. Recently, it has been in the limelight due to
the on going Presidential debates leading up to the 2016 election. It appears that the Republicans
want to take away all federal funding to shut down the clinics where as the democrats believe that
the republicans are misguided in their claims. The Planned Parenthood Federation of America is a
non profit organization, funded by the Federal Government, in which it provides reproductive
/maternal health services among the United States as well as internationally, since 1952. In recent
news developments, there have been rumors that Planned Parenthood practices inhumane
procedures when aborting an unborn baby to harvest their organs and that a law should be passed
to stop this. The supporters for Planned Parenthood claim that these claims are unfounded and
believe that Planned Parenthood is a wonderful association that helps women and men all around
the world. This issue has caused a series of debates that have been going on for years, but Planned
Parenthood still lives on. This current debate whether Planned Parenthood should be funded by the
Federal Government is a hot issue in the current election. It has become, not only a nationwide
issue, but also worldwide where people from all around the world are able to put in their input on
the argument. There are many people who

The Death of Reality and the Reality of Death
The Death of Reality and the Reality of Death
Death is never easy. Afterall it is the only sure thing anyone will ever do. Yet how one dies is
determined by how they live. One who lives their life to the fullest will be content and open to
death, while one whose life has been empty will fear it; but what if the difference between full and
empty was not so easily differentiated? What if reality and falsehood were the same? This idea is
contemplated in both Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller and The Death of Ivan Ilych by Leo
Tolstoy. In the world of the salesman, Willy Loman, who can not see who he is nor distinguish
reality from fantasy, and the world of Ivan Ilych, who can not see his life for what it is nor find true

So he decides to kill himself. He believes that he is worth more dead than alive and refers to his
plan as a diamond, rough and hard to the touch (Miller 126), something attainable that makes up
for all of the failures he has endured in the past. Willy does not know who he is and this falsehood
becomes his undoing. Similarly, falsehood brings about Ivan Ilych s death. The biggest deceit for
Ivan is his failure to admit to his mortality, as well as his idea of what happiness is. Ivan has spent
his entire life trying to rise the corporate ladder in his two faced aristocratic world. He loves
playing bridge and presiding over the courts, his family life is in shambles, yet he does not mind
at all and still considers his life to be pleasant. Ivan is totally concerned with only his career and
appearances. He tries to look more successful that he really is by making his middle class home
look upper class, but his house was so like the others that it would never have been noticed, but to
him it all seemed to be quite exceptional. (Tolstoy 530). It is while he is decorating this house,
climbing a ladder to hang drapes, that he injures his side, an injury that will cause his death. Ivan s
desire to climb the ladder of success, failure to recognize his false sense of happiness, and his
concern with appearances leads to his death.
However, Ivan recognizes
Edward Wallis Research Paper
In 1936, England s King George V died, leaving his eldest son, the Prince of Wales, to succeed
him as Edward VIII. The forty one year old new King had been known as an especially
womanizing prince and he was still unmarried when he assumed the throne on January 20, 1936.
His reign lasted a mere 325 days, ending in December the same year when he abdicated. He was
succeeded by his brother, who became George VI, father of the current reigning monarch, Elizabeth
II. Edward is perhaps best known for abdicating the throne in order to marry the woman he loved,
the American Wallis Warfield Simpson from Baltimore, Maryland. Wallis had been divorced from
her first husband in 1927 and she was married to her second husband, Ernest Simpson, when she and

Williams and Mort briefly mention that the marriage was largely supported by Americans, but
neither go into great detail. Williams s monograph includes information on Edward and Wallis s
early lives, how they met, and their deaths. The vast majority of the text focuses on the couple
during abdication crisis of 1936: Williams details the divorce of Wallis and Ernest, the King s
decision to marry Wallis, and the process of the abdication. While Williams did provide a few
examples of American headlines showing support for the marriage, she did not explore American
opinion of the marriage in depth. Instead, she used this mention of the American press to redirect
focus onto the agreement the British press made with the King to avoid mention of the relationship.
Mort, in his article, looks at letters to the king, primarily from women (some of whom were
Americans) expressing empathy for his situation, to consider public opinion on the monarchy, with
the aim of determining how public perception of the monarchy was changed by Edward VIII s
short reign and its dramatic end. Both of these authors do note the role the media had in public
opinion on the King s affair, but neither explore it in

Theirs landed 3.55 seconds, and had a very soft landing with very little impact. One of their
strengths was definitely the amount of balloons they had attached to their contraption to increase
drag.We had some very important strengths and weaknesses that we discovered in doing this
experiment. One of our weaknesses was the lack of balloons we had to increase drag, thus
reducing the impact to a lower level. We had two main strengths. the first strength was the cotton
surrounding the popsicle stick protecting platforms. The cotton prevented less impact even though
there wasn t any drag to slow the fall. The other strength we discovered was the amount of rubber
bands we had used on the contraption to keep things tight, steady, and in place. The rubber bands
help out a lot, especially when you re dealing with trying to stabilize popsicle stick platforms and
securing the egg. if I had the chance to fix or add any supplies, or build anything on the contraption
differently, I would definitely increase the amount of balloons to help with cushioning and slowing
down the fall, and build a different kind of platform that would be more sturdy and easy to work
