Race and Ethnicity

Ethnicity and race have been used in American society to the point where both words are
indistinguishable from each other. Race is a social construct (Throop, Lecture, 10/8/2015). Race is a
social construct because race is used to differentiate the different ethnic groups from each other. Race
should not be used to separate the different ethnic groups. In American society, it is evident that
certain ethnic groups are singled out for the problems in our society. Usually those ethnic groups are
minorities. African Americans and Latinos are usually the minorities that are singled out for the
problems or benefit of the majority. In the article, Who Dat?: Race and Its Conspicuous Consumption
in Post Katrina New Orleans, Marc Perry states how African American citizens were affected by the
devastating hurricane Katrina in 2005 and how the citizens reacted before and after hurricane
Katrina to the relocation of African Americans to other places for the restructuring of New Orleans
(Perry). In a related article titled, Putting the Ninth Ward on the map: Race, Place, and
Transformation in Desire, New Orleans, Rachel Breunlin and Helen Regis state how African
Americans living in New Orleans before and after hurricane Katrina were being dislocated for the
benefit of whites for the restructuring of Post Katrina in Desire,New Orleans and caused the culture

Essay On Crack Cocaine
Crack Cocaine the drug that has impacted so many lives; especially the life of rappers. Crack
Cocaine is the refined result of cocoa leaves. However, crack cocaine was not developed until the
cocaine boom of 1970. Large shipments of this drug was now making its way into the inner cities
of the United States, and the majority of residents living in those inner cities were African
American. Black on black crime was now more common than ever, incarceration within the black
community was skyrocketing, abandonment of children was typical and the spread of Sexually
Transmitted Diseases was devastating. Many factors were playing a part of this, and Hip Hop was a
big one. Hip hop from the golden ages of Grandmaster flashand to modern day Lil... Show more

According to Grandmaster Melle Mel s song, The message , he clearly described an environment
where it was highly susceptible to crack cocaine. It wasn t just a couple of neighbors, but all the
neighborhoods that were being occupied by African Americans in America found themselves in the
environment that highly influenced by Crack cocaine. Miguel Martinez is a contributor on Rap
Genius, a website that provides annotation and interpretation of songs, news, and any documentation
that focuses on Hip Hop music. Martinez stated that, Due to factors out of their control the
impoverished urban communities were a perfect mixing pot for the crack epidemic setting the
mostly black community, on a destructive path . Rappers that talk highly about drug consumption
grew up in these environments. These artists that talk heavily about drugs on their because it is
something their familiar with on through an intimate level from their past.
It is inevitable that crack has had a huge impact on rap music and hip hop culture in general.
Rappers from generations after generation used their music to express that. They used rap to uplift
themselves, although crack was part of their lives, it was also a part of them. They either had some
type of past relationship through distribution or consumption. It helped construct who they are, and

Essay on Julie and May
Julie opened her eyes. Looking around herself with misty eyes, she found herself in a ward. No
one else was in the ward at that moment. The spacious ward was enveloped in quietness. Julie felt
her head heavy with dizziness, as if all the strength had drained out of her body. Questions stacked
in her brain: Why am I here? Why am I here? Yet her intense headache prevented her from thinking
hard. Despite her listless condition, she attempted to sit up in bed, but immediately felt an
excruciating pain in her left leg. Subconsciously, Julie groped for her leg. She felt the rigid plaster,
and jerked her hands back instantly with a start. That was when the terrible memories of the tragic
night flashed through her mind.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No sooner had they closed the door behind them, than Julie rebuked herself for being so rude to
her parents. Burying her head in the pillow, she wept uncontrollably. Julie was a fifteen year old
girl. She not only looked beautiful, but was also famous in her school for being an athletic star in
various sports events. Aspiring to be a gymnast when she grew up, Julie joined the gymnasium
team in her school and had been elected the team captain for her excellent performance. Now her
dream was shattered by the unexpected car accident. She could not believe the misfortune that had
befallen her, although the physical and mental pain felt so menacingly real. In the following days,
Julie shut herself in her own resentment, refusing to see anyone who came to the hospital to visit
her. She resented being the only victim of the mad car; she resented being unable to lead a normal
life; she resented being called the handicapped instead of the usual sports star ; she resented the
wheelchair, the medicine, the confinement of the ward with indifferent white walls. Most of all, she
resented being weak, for pride used to be her distinctive characteristic. Life resumed its monotony.
Julie had no choice but to stay in the hospital all day long, accept painful physical therapy and
control her diet. However, the monotony did not last for more than one week, for another patient
came to share the same ward with Julie on the eighth
Medium Voltage, High Power Applications
medium voltage, high power applications (e.g. industrial drives, and photovoltaic systems) three
level inverters are used extensively [1, 2]. Recently, the application of these threelevel inverters in
low voltage, high power traction applications have also been introduced [3, 4]. Amongst different
variants of three level inverter topologies [5], the T type Neutral Point
Clamped (T NPC) inverter, as shown in Fig. 1, has been shown to be the most promising solution
for low voltage, high power traction applications [4]. Each phase leg of this topology consists of two
devices connected to the neutral point of the
DC link (inner devices) and two devices placed similar to a conventional two level inverter (outer
devices).

Previously reported three level DPWM schemes concluded that at a lower power factor, the three
level DPWM schemes cannot perfectly align the 60° no switching durations [4, 17] with phase
current peaks, incurring switching instances around current maxima. Thus, their impact on the
switching loss reduction is limited during low power factor operation.
Unequal current stress distribution: With conventional three level modulation strategies, the inner
and outer devices are not utilized in a uniform manner [3, 14]. At lower modulation indices, the inner
devices carry a substantially higher amount of current compared to the outer devices. This effectively
limits the output current capability of the drive when needed most, typically during starting from
standstill and during acceleration/deceleration [21].
Additionally, for a T NPC inverter, the DC link neutral

Paparazzi By Giordanna Allassi
Chapter 7 Society s crackling telephone lines were now flooded with rumors flying through like
surges of electricity. Editors, raced to dial their best paparazzi, working in other countries, hearing
echoes of their own voices in the phone lines and long delays before the faint and distant voices
came on the other end saying, I m catching the first flight out of here. The flurry of activity, from
the news of Giordanna Allassi s latest gala, overloaded publications like: Paris Match, Life, and
Harper s Bazaar, with editors licking their lips and rubbing their hands together in anticipation. At

The word was out! By God, when Giordanna de Barcelo Allassi announced her new skin care line
to the world, the world stood up and listened. Her husband had bankrolled a media blitz that
would be talked about for years, hiring a public relations firm that littered the streets with images
of swans with one word written beneath, Giordanna. As the result, reporters had begun to ask
about the mysterious swans and their relation to the famous model, but it was all kept hush hush.
Not one lip revealed that the gala s theme was based on his wife s new creams for flawless skin
and her swanlike neck. She owned the floor, wearing a Lilly Dache couture gown with her
flawless hourglass silhouette in a rich raspberry red shimmering silk faille dress and her
matching eel skinned heels. Her dress featured a bow nipped waist bodice and a flattering swing
skirt that flowed to the floor. It accentuated the pale color of her milky white skin. Her latest gift
from her famous husband, given to her for Mother s Day a Cartier Ruby and Diamond Parure
complimented the gown. The ruby and diamond tiara gave her elegant sable up do a regal
appearance, turning heads. She was as scrumptious as a raspberry crème brûlée. The San Francisco
bureau chief for Paris Match sent a wire to their main office as the headline. Saying, the telltale heart

Bowel Constipation Essay
Constipation Treatment: Constipation is the term used to describe irregular bowel actions, hard
motions or difficulty in passing faces. It is twice as common in women as it is in men and
increases with age. A recent study revealed that 10% of adults believed they had suffered from
constipation during the previous fortnight. Those results may have stemmed from the widespread
belief that the bowels should be open daily and that failure to do so will cause any umber of
complaints ranging from headaches to depression. In fact, one medical study has shown that the
average person may pass faeces as little as twice a week or as often as three times every day.

Occasionally surgery may be the only hope of curing this condition. If your child is usually fairly
easy. First, offer them extra fluids, preferably as fruit juice. This is especially important in hot
weather. If this fails then the extra sugar in one or two of their feeds may do the trick. If your
child is still struggling to pass a hard motion you should then consult your GP, who may pass a
well vaselined finger into e rectum. This often has spectacular results. Dietary Constipation The
commonest cause of constipation in young adults is dietary, often at a time when they are dieting
to excess and not receiving enough fibre. Irritable bowel syndrome may cause constipation but
this usually alternates the diarrhea is accompanied by abdominal pain and bloating. Treatment
consists of a high fibre diet an anti spasmodics such as peppermint oil. Irritable bowel syndrome is
much more common in women and seems be stress related. If you are elderly and have been
constipated or two weeks more, especially if it is associated with eight losses or bleeding, you
should try these natural treatment to get rid of
Emily Grierson Beliefs
A Rose for Emily: In A Rose for Emily, the quiet town of Jefferson is inhabited by a living
monument of time, Miss Emily Grierson. Miss Emily inevitably lived in the only house left on her
street, with everyone else overwhelmed with Emily s presence. William Faulkner demonstrates a
theme of traditional values overpowering a changing society by his use of conflictand symbolism.
Following the division of the North and South in the United States, the Civil war molded many
people, including protagonist Emily Grierson, into an idealistic view of what they once were, and
created a barrier between old values and new values. Without opposition from the outside world,
Miss Emily Grierson suppressed herself into a time capsule within her own home.... Show more

Man vs. Society, Man vs Nature, and internal conflict are all developed throughout the story. One
of the prominent conflicts, Man vs. Society , or in other words, Miss Emily Gierson versus the
outside society within the town that she lived in her whole life, demonstrates the theme when the
mayor asked Emily to file her taxes. During their conversation, when Miss Emily keeps
exclaiming I have no taxes in Jefferson. (Faulkner 517), she s battling with time itself because the
world around her wants her progress with them. But, Miss Emily is inattentive to the idea of
moving forward. Along with Man vs. Society, Man vs. Nature is also a key conflict in A Rose for
Emily . When Faulkner said, She told them that her father was not dead , Emily wasn t letting the
doctors dispose of his body for three days (518). Miss Emily was battling with nature by the pressure
to accept her father s death, but ultimately, the change that is going to come forward. Lastly, internal
conflict also creates the theme by using Miss Emily s thoughts and actions to strengthen the theme.
When she decided to start painting lessons to teach the newer generation s a generally traditional
skill of china paining(520), she attempted to intervene with the outside society. During this process,
children didn t bring their boxes of color, tedious brushes, and pictures cut from magazines because
they didn t want to upset her
How Did Le Nozze Cause The French Revolution
The Enlightenment is a cultural and intellectual movement in Europe in the 18th century that
promotes freedom, equality, and many other new ideas. It has lasting impact in Europe and the
world till this day. Le nozze di Figaro was the first of the three collaborations between composer
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and librettist Lorenzo da Ponte. The opera was based on the play la
marriage by Pierre Beaumarchais. In late 1785, less than a year after the controversial play was put
on in Paris, Mozart started the composition of Figaro. Notwithstanding the fact that Joseph II banned
the play in Vienna, da Ponte gained permission from the Emperor to put on an opera with the
promise to cut away the political sensitive parts, including one of the strongest criticisms towards the
aristocrats with Figaro asking the Count, What have you done to deserve such advantages? Put
yourself to the trouble of being born nothing more! The opera premiered at Burgtheater in Vienna on
May 1, 1786. Although Figaro may not be a direct cause of the French Revolution, it was responsible
for spreading political ideas that undermine the authority of the aristocracy. This essay sets out to
examine how the ideas of equality are reflected in Le nozze di Figaro, leading to increasing social
mobility.

As noted by Michael Steinberg, He hasn t found a musical idiom of his own; his political and
emotional vocabulary suggests a similarly unfortunate mimetic duplication of the Count s. But as
the opera proceeds, Figaro s character becomes deeper and more complex musically. Unlike his
first catvatina Se voul ballare in Scene 2, Act 1 , which has a similar tune to the Count s part in the
trio Susanna, or via, sortite in Scene 6, Act 2 , he began to develop his own musical line. This
increase in the depth of Figaro s music implies that he eventually gains a more level social standing

chromatography is a type of chromatography that allows for separation and analysis of a compound.
It does this by vaporizing the sample then using a carrier gas to push it through a column which then
separates it based on an equilibrium formed between solution and dissolution. 2. As a gaseous
mixture travels down the column parts of the sample dissolve into the liquid. There is equilibrium
between the gas phase (solution) and the stationary phase (liquid phase). This is what the partition
coefficient is based on; it is the concentration of the sample in the stationary phase over the

The smaller the alkane the faster it will reach the detector, therefore the shorter the retention time.
This is because alkanes experience intermolecular Van der waal forces. The stronger these forces
are the greater the boiling point of the alkane. The larger the alkane, the more Hydrogen bonds
there are, meaning they have stronger forces (and a higher boiling point). Components with low
boiling points travel faster through the column than higher boiling points, therefore the retention
time of Octane is 1.25 min while the retention time of Dodecane is 5.50 min. 18. UNKNOWN B
