Earth And The Solar System
Each and every planet, moon, and rock in our solar system is different in many different ways.
Surprisingly a lot of the known knowledge about our planets comes from guessing. Well not just
random guessing smart guessing. Studying Earth can tell us a lot about other planets and what they
are made of. Let s start at the core of planets, literally. Terrestrial planets like Earthand Mars have
cores made of Iron. While the Jovian planets like Saturn and Jupiterhave rocky cores. Scientists have
multiple ways to probe the interiors of planets. The cores of each planetare a mixture of both solid
and/or liquid. Planets spin just like a top, they wobble. The wobble in a planet is called precession.
If a planet twists as it wobbles chances are it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you fly a spacecraft near a planet you can measure how it is affected by the gravity. When
the spacecraft flies closer to a planet it becomes more affected by the inner layers of the planets
interior. Chemical fractionation is the process early in the formation of a planet that influences
its structure of its interior is gravity. Gravity causes heavier elements to sink to the core of a
planet. The thickness of a planet s crust is directly proportional to the rate at which the planet
cooled in the past. Smaller planets cool faster. The cooling rate is proportional to the total mass of
the planet. Large planets cool slower and have thinner crusts. High cooling rates also determine
the interior structure. Slower cooling rates implies that planets still have warm interiors now.
Warmer interiors imply more a diversified structure. This is why mars is red, since it is smaller it
cooled faster and elements like iron stayed on the surface before sinking toward the core, which is
why it also doesn t have a strong magnetic field like
Earth. It is also worth noting that a thicker crust means less tectonic activity.
The best way to determine a terrestrial planets interior is by using seismology. A device called a
seismometer measures sheers from Earth quakes, or Moon/Mars quakes. When a planet quakes it
sends waves rippling through the planets interior, the denser the layer the shorter the wavelength. Of
course there
Carrie Buck s Argumentative Analysis
When one chooses to write on a matter that seems to have been laid to rest decades ago their burden
extensively lies not in trying to argue for their position, rather in showing the relevance of their
position. This paper attempts to do both of these things when it comes to non consensual
sterilizations of women, specifically disabled women. A practice prominent in the 20th century, this
paper examines coerced sterilizations from a feminist care ethicsperspective and ultimately concludes
that paternalistic arguments for this practice are in fact eugenic arguments, and thus renders coerced
tubal litigations as unethical. Although neo eugenicsis starting to gain a number of followers for its
genetic benefits, this is but a misconception of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is true; however, Linda Sparkman and others like her deserve justice. This justice begins by
admitting that Ora McFarlane s actions and the court s decision was beyond unethical but purely
eugenic. A relationship between a parent and a child is one involving genuine care, acceptance,
interdependence between the two and a duty of the parent to adhere to these virtues. Sterilizing a
teenager because they fraternize with men is not justified by care ethics nor the law as shown
earlier due to the lack of statutory authorization. The mother s wishes do, however, make sense from
a pro eugenic
Freedom Of Press Amendment Research Paper
I believe advertisements targeting children should not be banned in the United States. Doing so
would be unconstitutional due to the Freedom of Press amendment. Advertisements can help
children by promoting healthy eating habits while at the same time teaching them that
advertisements are just ploys for businesses to get more money. Banning advertisements targeted
towards children in the United States would violate the rights of many businesses across the nation.
The Constitution along with its amendments are in place to protect every citizen and business in the
nation. The Freedom of Press amendment was implemented for when cases like this one are brought
up. Taking this right away would upset the balance in this country and possibly
My, Go Your Own Way By Fleetwood Mac
Music is indubitably a formidable force. It has the capability to shape an individual s perspective
on the world. My father is a music aficionado, and the predominant reason I was acquainted with
the paradise of music. I used to stare at his gargantuan wall of CDs for hours marveling at the
unique splendor of each album cover. Only a select few songs out of the millions on that wall
were magnificent enough to change my life. Once in a blue moon, I stumble upon a song that is
so profound and liberating, it captivates me as I listen and brings new insights to my life. One
song, which reached immediate success upon its release in 1977, would later change my life.
Listening to the song I am so fervent about, Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac, helped me to
develop my musical taste through its eloquent lyrics, an upbeat melody, and the passionate
performance of the song.
There is no doubt that song lyrics possess the potential to be powerful. The meaning of the lyrics
can be used in any way the listener feels it applies. The underlying meaning to a song often
determines if I will listen to it or not. Words such as lonely and change are repeatedly used in Go
Your Own Way . Change and loneliness are arduous for many people, myself included, and listening
to this song alleviates the pain of heartbreak. Many people experience this pain but cannot put it into
words. Fleetwood Mac, however, successfully accomplished this. This song helped me to get through
some tough times, and it
Proposition 140
Initiatives like any other issues have two sides to it; we must assess both sides to get a better
scope of the issue. Contrary to the believe, propositions gave some benefits to the people of
California as well as the legislature. In 1911 the California legislature passed the initiative process
and was later approved through an election by Californians. By doing so Californians were given the
right to directly vote on constitutional amendments and statues. In California, the legislatureis
prohibited from repealing or amending any statutory initiatives. The first initiativethat had a
beneficial effect on the legislature is Proposition 1A, which professionalized the California
legislature by increasing their salary from $6,000 to $16,000 per... Show more content on

We see that propositions have changed the function of the legislature by creating constraints and
mandating certain actions. The stipulations and mandate of Proposition 13 and 58 is problematic
for it makes it difficult for legislators to create policies or pass the budget. Proposition13 created a
two thirds majority rule, which made it difficult to pass any tax revenue. This is problematic
especially during an economic crisis for the legislature is not able to create new revenue sources
when needed. The two thirds rule imposed by Proposition 13 creates hostage taking in the
legislature for it allows the legislative minority to demand major concession for their vote. By
doing so, the minority in the chamber can stall the passage of policies or even the budget. We see
that reform initiatives really hinder the efficiency of the legislature; it creates unnecessary barriers
for policymaking. Thus, it impedes on the job of the legislature to create critical policies that address

Essay The Doukhobors, Sons of Freedom and the Canadian...
The Sons of Freedom are a small radical group that diverged from a religious sect known as the
Doukhobors. This zealous and revivalist subsect evolved from the Doukhobors only to gain the
government s attention for their extremely radical acts. They have initiated bombings, arson, nudist
parades, and hunger strikes, all in protest to the land ownership and registration laws of Canada.
Such obscene and violent demonstrations have caused a great deal of conflict between the Sonsof
Freedom and the Canadiangovernments legal system and have also generated much public
resentment. However, should the State of Canada have imposed laws upon this minority group that
blatantly conflicted with their religious beliefs?

One law, requiring an oath of allegiance to the Crown (to secure their land ownership) caused
problems since they believed allegiance should only be pledged to God. They also wished for
better land provisions similar to those for Indians. Frustrated Doukhobors thus formed the Sons of
God , which eventually became the radical Sons of Freedom. In fact, their lifestyle was quite out
of place in the prairies. They actually used men and women to pull wagons in an attempt to
emancipate animals and they travelled barefoot on pilgrimages in search of a Promised Land,
which seemed rather odd to Canadian citizens. Other bizarre religious beliefs seemed to bring
controversy such as their disapproval of the Canadian laws regarding marriage, birth and death
registration. Four Doukhobor men were even sentenced to three months imprisonment for failing to
register a death. The Dominion Land Act which required registration of the land also caused
problems for the Doukhobors. While this conflicted with their religious beliefs regarding owning
private property, many reluctantly signed the registration. The Sons of Freedom felt such an act was
causing the other Doukhobors to be secularised into Canadian society. In response to this, the Sons
of Freedom began to evangelise in the nude during the spring of 1903, starting a revivalist movement.

Subtopics About The Brain
Did you know that your brain weighs around 3 pounds and it s 2% of your body s weight? The
brain is an organ that collects data. The brain is separated into halves into left and right
hemispheres. It can collect data from sensory organs and nerve cells. In this essay, you ll learn about
3 subtopics about the brain: how does the brain work, what are the lobes of the brain, and what do
the left and right hemispheres do?
There are many ways how the brain works. The main way is the brain collects data from sensory
organs and nerve cells, but that s not all. The main structure of the brain is the cerebrum. There are
two parts: the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere. Two structures called the thalamus and the
hypothalamus deal with pain, hormones, and sleep. The hormones controls simple emotions. And
the farthest structure from the center of the brain is the cerebral cortex, which it deals with big tasks,
such as language, memory, thoughts, and emotions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 4 lobes are the Frontal Lobe, Parietal Lobe, Temporal Lobe, and Occiptal Lobe. These 4 lobes
have jobs, but you ll learn first where they re located. The Frontal Lobe is located at the front of
the brain. The Parietal Lobe is located at the top of the brain. The Temporal Lobe is located at
both sides of the brain. And finally, the Occiptal Lobe is located at the back of the brain. Now,
you ll learn about the jobs of the 4 lobes. The Frontal Lobe s job is on planning, reasoning, a part of
speech, movement, and solving problems. The Temporal Lobe is specialized to hear and remember
your memories. The Occiptal Lobe s shift is to sight things and vision. And The Parietal Lobe s work
is on touching, pressure, temperature, and
Analysis Of Patricia Hill Collins s Critical Race Theory
The contributions of female thinkers have generally been overlooked thought out the years, even
though they have an understanding of theory and society similar to their male counterparts. There
are many women who have made a major contribution to the development of modern day
sociology. Patricia Collins is a well known sociology professor at the University of Maryland,
College Park. Her work focuses on several issues concerning issues with feminismand genderin the
African American community. She has discussed topics on socioeconomic status, which ties into the
new racism . The new racism basically is disenfranchising voters and driving politics by economic
influence, which is neither in the hands of Blacks, but falls in the hands of... Show more content on

She was influenced by Du Bois s writings, including The Philadelphia Nergo, the New York Times
articles and the Atlanta Studies (Morris, pg.72). Ovington began studying the lives of African
Americans living in New York at the time, which lead her research and findings to writing Half a
Man: The Status of Negro in New York. In this book Ovington concentrated on economic status of
black New Yorkers, carefully examining their employment opportunities and working conditions
(Morris, pg.72).
Ovington viewed racial discrimination in the labor market as a major issue in New York, while
focusing her attention closely to the conditions of black woman s economic and labor experiences
comparing them to white woman. Mary White Ovington s study tended to be descriptive given its
reliance of secondary data, but it was nonetheless a major contribution to the understanding of a
northern black community during the first decade of the twentieth century (Morris, pg.73). The
research done by Ovington captured Du Bois s attention and became an important addition to the
Atlanta s school offerings in urban and economic sociology.
Another important female who help contribute to the development of modern day sociology is Lucy
Craft Laney, who has been described as one of the most important African American
