Selective Breeding Or Artificial Selection
Selective breeding; also known as artificial selection, this is a process of which humans can use
animal or plant breeding to produce particular phenotypes from certain animals/plants for which that

happens they won t breed to generate anymore eggs until they have extra food to gain energy, there

Memi And Sabu And The Seated Statue Of Gudea
The Royal Acquaintances Memi and Sabu and The Seated Statue of Gudea are two historic
statues dating back 2000 years B.C. that have been displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
in New York City. The subjects represented in both statues display a strength in human
relationships. They also both bear emotional and physical similarities. Memi and Sabu and Gudea
also have many differing characteristics such as their medium and historical value. This essay
will further describe the similarities and differences between The Royal Acquaintances Memi
and Sabu and The Seated Statue of Gudea. The Royal Acquaintances Memi and Sabu is
constructed of limestone. Limestone is an organic sedimentary rock composed of skeletal
fragments of marine organisms such as coral and mollusks. It is very common and is still
frequently used in architecture and art. It is long lasting and stands up well to exposure.
Landmarks such as the Great Pyramids were constructed of limestone (Cassar, 2010). The seated
Statue of Gudea is sculpted of diorite. Diorite is the traditional base material in the construction of
roads and parking areas. It is considered difficult to sculpt with because of its hardness and
variable composition. For those reasons, it is not a stone often used by sculptors nowadays. It was
popular among ancient sculptors of the Middle East (Diorite, n.d.). The Royal Acquaintances Memi
and Sabu and The Seated Statue of Gudea are similar in size but still relatively small in size.
Portrayals Of Archaeology
The media has a big impact on today s generation due to its accessibility. Anyone could pick up a
book from the library, stroll along to the movies, or simply go on the web to search for relevant
information happening in today s world. Archaeology is widely used in several forms of media
such as books, comics, television series, movies, and the news. While the media exposes and
educates its audience, can their information be trusted? Although the goal of some news outlets
such as Fox News and CNN is to provide relevant information to their audience, how accurate are
those information? In this paper, we will examine how archaeology is represented in several news
outlets such as Fox News, New York Times, CNN and NBC News, and if the information... Show

Contrasting the Natural and Mechanical Worlds in Hathaway s Oh, Oh

The French poet and essayist Louis Aragon, in his Paris Peasant, wrote that light is meaningful only
in relation to darkness, and truth presupposes error we only exist in terms of this conflict, in the
zone where black and white clash (Aragon 18). Aragon noted that the world is full of contrasts, and it
is through those contrasts that we live and understand who we are and why we are here. Without an
understanding of light, Aragon argues, we cannot understand what darkness really is. Or, without an
awareness as to the concept of truth, one cannot possibly error, for the act cannot be defined. In
William Hathaway s poem Oh, Oh, the poet uses language, word ... Show more content on

The dominant contrast in Oh, Oh is created by the comforting versus harsh descriptions of the
natural versus the mechanical. This contrast is created not only through images, but also through a
careful collaboration of word choices selected by Hathaway. Perhaps the most easily recognizable of
these is found in the middle of the poems only stanza. After the author s persona and his girl have
walked through the country, they encounter the invasion of a train. But, the action of the intrusion is
not what is important here; rather, the language that is used to describe both situations is what must
be examined.

For example, in the first half of the poem, which for the most part describes the country, the
language is filled with beautiful sentences filled with adjective after adjective after adjective. A
simple encounter with cows in a field becomes moo cows chomping daisies, our own / sweet saliva
green with grass stems (2 3). But, on the entrance of the locomotive, the language changes. The
complex, drawn out, three adjective statement maple dappled summer sunlight is replaced by a
sterile and simple lit headlight (8). From that point forward, the long sentences disappear. Only
when the couple experiences the mechanical real world, do they lose the power of language to
describe what they see.

Another technique that Hathaway uses extensively to demonstrate the difference

Andrew Carnegie And The Gospel Of Wealth
Andrew Carnegie (1835 1919) was a major American industrialist in the late 19th century and after
obtaining substantial wealth from his steel industry, became an advocate for giving back to the less
fortunate. Carnegie s desire to donate to those less fortunate came from past experiences, growing
up as an immigrant and working in a cotton factory young. He knew and understood the hardships
that people faced when not able to acquire the type of wealthhe rose to earn. Through his long life
this atypical businessman advocated for many and dedicated the later years of his life to promoting
the general welfare of the world.

After having enough of the steel industry in which Carnegie built from the ground up, with little
training and knowledge in the field, other than his past experiences from working on the railroads
and investing in oil and iron companies, The Gospel of Wealth (1889) was written. At the time of
booming industry, few men had the opportunity to amass such vast fortunes such as Carnegie, and
in writing The Gospel of Wealth (1889), Carnegie wanted to inspire to those with money to donate
and give back to the less fortunate, and life with be better for everyone. He penned that greedy men
who let their money die with them are a disgrace, and that the wealthy have a sort of obligation to
promote the common welfare for the average American. Although Andrew Carnegie did not write
any other essay, he donated millions of dollars, funded libraries, and supported a
Examples Of Social Groups In Frankenstein
Which social groups are marginalised, excluded or silenced within the text?

This essay will be analysing which social groups are marginalised, excluded or silenced within the
text focusing primarily on the female roles of the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, this essay
refers to Part 3 of the course. This essay will focus on the silencing of Frankenstein s monster and
how that is metaphoric for the abuses suffered by women, it will also work on the sufferings of the
women and how they suffer as result of men and their actions or lack thereof.

From a feminist reading of this novel we see some very prevalent female characters who fall victim
to the wrath of men, this wrath is critiqued as being uneducated and impulsive while the men accuse

Women who are inactive in the novel are also criticized as the people who despite opportunities
of saving the fallen characters do nothing and it is praised when the opposite is done as we see
with Walton as he writes in his letters that his sister was correct about speaking out against him,
despite her lack of action she speaks out which seems as though Mary Shelley doesn t encourage
action as it can be dangerous but encourages speaking out and calling the mistakes of
Starbucks Promised For The Working Conditions
Last year, Starbucks promised that they would improve the working conditions and scheduling
of their employees, but the company has not lived up to their promise yet. The managers want to
keep labor costs as low as possible which has resulted in understaffing and making employees
work long days, sometimes even making them close one night and open the next morning, which
is known as a clopening . Autonomy, one of the most important job characteristics of motivation,
seems to be very low in this situation for multiple reasons. First, the workers are not able to
choose their own work schedule, the company provides them with when they are scheduled to
work. This alone decreases motivation, but the fact that some workers are scheduled for
clopenings further lowers their autonomy. Most workers would not mind opening or closing as
long as they do not have to do both back to back. One way to fix this would be to allow workers to
choose their own schedules. If Starbucks used an online scheduling program where every worker
could input what times they wanted to work over the next two weeks or so, employees would be
much happier with their schedules. The workers would have a minimum and maximum amount of
hours they could work in the given time period, a minimum and maximum amount of employees that
could work at the same time, and a minimum shift length. This scheduling process could also ensure
that no employee performs a clopening if it is

Sociological Autobiography
As a first year sociology student, my sociological file is minute and underdeveloped. I have my
interests and research questions when it comes to sociology because of my inexperience. With the
Persian heritage I obtain, I have an interest in how society reacts to those of Middle Eastern ancestry
in public. I am a third generation immigrant from the Middle Eastand issues often prevail
themselves. These issues are not as frequently as they come to some people, but I have definitely
had my experience with injustice. Since the somewhat recent terrorist actions committed by those
from Muslims in the Middle East, social encounters of the oppressed with the oppressors have not
only been awkward but reprehensible. Because of my other European heritage, I do not experience
the abhorrent situations directly, however, when with my family I often observe the looks and
actions given towards them. Why do people generalize a whole race because of a a few incidents

After the attacks in 2001 especially, Muslims and people from the Middle East were talked about
in an unkindly manner and treated as if they were all involved in the terrorist attacks. How would
Americans feel if we were all treated as murders or terrorists in response to the criminals that have
come from America? It obviously would not be tolerated under any circumstances. So who are we to
frisk every person that looks even remotely Middle Eastern at the airport? What will come of this?
Because of their countries safety and the opportunities in The United States, Muslims and Middle
Easterners are not going to leave America even though they are constantly being oppressed.
Eventually, to solve this discrimination, Muslims and Middle Easterners will be changing their
names to sound more American and start physically conforming to American society to hide the
culture that is so important to

Theory of Evolution

Charles Darwin theory of evolution contains two parts. The first part Evolution Occurs meaning
organisms change over time in heritable physical or behavioral traits and life on earth has changed
as people change from ancestors in the past. Second part Evolution Occurs by Natural Selection
natural selection is the process in which living things with beneficial traits produce more off
spring than others which results in changes that allow an organism to better adapt to its
environment can help it survive over time. All life on earth is connected and related to each other
and diversity of life came from modifications in populations in natural selectin. Natural selection
can also be described as survival of the fittest in which the fittest is the ability to survive and
reproduce. Most people believe that the species were created at the same time and remained
unchanged after. Darwins ideas of evolution came before scientist knew about DNA it started on
his voyage in 1831 when he was 22 years old he went on a scientific trip on a ship called HMS
Beagle. He was the naturalist on the trip meaning he was supposed to observe and collect particles
of dirt, rocks, animals, plants, and fossils. He was interested by his the nature he spent 3/5 years
exploring nature on islands and contents. When Darwin returned he had become famous as a
naturalist because a former teacher published Darwins observations.
