The French Revolution And The Revolution Of The Bastille
Through the events of the French Revolution, the implications of the fight for justice from 1789 is
still visible today around France through slogans such as Liberty, Equality, Fraternity . The French
Revolution was not only important in spreading the notion of democracy in France, but the event
also sparked revolutions of the people throughout Europe and South America. These revolutions
sought to uphold the principals of the French Revolutionin establishing governments that would
secure their natural rights and protect against the abuses of absolutism. The revolution would
ultimately urge France to change its government to a democracy as a whole. Specifically, through
the work of David Andress the Storming of the Bastille particularly was very important in the
course of the revolution to get France to where it is today. The Tennis Court Oath and the
Storming of the Bastille were both very significant events for the French Revolution. During the
past few years and the beginning of 1789, France was suffering from a financial crisis created by
King Louis XVI and and his wife, Marie Antoinette. The French government was nearly bankrupt
due to the massive deficit spending the royal family. Throughout France, there was also bad
inflation from the lack of control over grain, which in turn created a general rise in prices. The high
grain price caused inflation in other foods and goods such as bread which is made from grain.
Subsequently, many people could not afford
Media Portrayal Of Violence In The Media
The risk of developing aggressive behavior is high among children who were raised in a negative
environment such as social and economic factors play a huge role. The primary place a children
is in is at home. Poverty has a significant impact on a child s social behavior these children that are
raised in poor environments have a higher risk of behavior problems. Impoverished communities
have a wide range of people living there not all the people in that neighborhood may have the same
parenting styles or teach their child to behave. Children in impoverished neighborhoods can often
play with other kids outdoors and since other children may not be raised to behave well they will
bring that behavior in their homes and begin to use it. Potential behavior that can arise from other
children who do not behave can lead to not respecting others, anger, and violence.
The media has been linked to aggressive behavior in children. The outcome of media portrayal of
violence can have lasting effects such as children can be begin to feel less sensitive to the pain and
suffering of others. Sometimes watching violence can even be enjoyable because of how the media
plays it out to be. It may be funny or no consequences or punishment to violent act committed.
Violence seems to be everywhere, on television, news, video games and especially movies this
creates a distorted view of what reality truly is. Children that watch violence on television will at
some point imitate those aggressive acts
Canadian Mining Companies Are Responsible For Numerous...
Canada is home to some of the largest mining corporations in the world. In fact, seventy five percent
of the world s mining companies are based in Canada (Dean, 2013). These companies are involved
in the extraction of numerous resources, including silver, petroleum, bitumen and coal. Canadian
mining operations also have a particular focus in gold, as twenty one of the country s top forty mining
companies are involved in gold extraction. With billion dollar annual revenues and interests in almost
every continent, these multinational companies are making a large impact around the globe
(Canadian Mining Journal, 2014). However, these impacts are not necessarily positive. Canadian
mining corporations have failed to implement CSR policies and... Show more content on

Since these firms have such an extensive presence in Latin America, the management of these
companies is having a direct impact on the environment and on the lives of those who live there.

Environmental and Human Rights Violations Most mining projects aim to exploit territories of great
ecological richness and/or the lands inhabited by... ethnic minorities (U.S. Office, 2013). Many times,
when mining operations commit environmental violations, they commit human rights violations as
well. For this reason, it is hard to separate these two types of violations. Large scale, open pit
mining by Canadian corporations is responsible for a myriad of environmental infractions, not only
affecting ecosystems, but also having a profound, direct or indirect, impact on the lives of millions
living in Latin America.

1.1 Water Violations

Water is one of the most affected resources in the region due to mining operations as mass mining
extractions are having detrimental effects on surface and ground water (Cereceda, 2007). First,
there is the problem of Acid Mine Drainage, or AMD. Naturally, sulphuric acid is produced when
sulphides in rocks are exposed to water and air. AMD, however, is a result of this process being
greatly magnified. Large quantities of rocks containing sulphides are excavated in these open pit
mines, reacting to water and air and creating sulphuric acid. This acid leaches out of the rock,
sometimes for
Sophocles Electra
When the Greek playwright Sophocles wrote Electra, one can assume he would never have
anticipated that it would inspire the countless texts, plays and performances that have graced the
stage. The story of Electra depicts the main heroine, Electra, and her revenge on her mother, who
murdered her beloved father. This is just a sneak peak into the epic tragedy that is Electra. In fact,
the story of Electra is so complicated that Sophocleswould have probably enjoyed seeing someone
attempt to re create the layers of murder, intrigue and scandal that is embedded into this play. It is
important to acknowledge this because it is the text in which the opera, Elektra, by Richard Strauss,
is based upon. Through Elektra, Richard Strauss attempts to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

During the performance I lost interest in the beginning, but what really brought me back into the
performance was the music. It was bold and beautiful at the same time. The singing was well done
and the actress who played Electra, Elizabeth Blancke Biggs sang throughout almost the entire
performance which was impressive. In this performance it was clear that the objective was to
highlight the music. This could be seen as rational, because a regular opera goer is expected to be
wowed by the music. However, does that justify why the performance allowed the visual elements to
fall so

Their father Thomas was born in Maidstone, Kent England. Kent is the origin of the Tolhurst
name which likely means a thick, dense forest. It is an uncommon name being less than 1 in

Mary Elizabeth (b 1856, Ontario, née Cudmore) Tolhurst had their first of 6 daughters, Francis

Coward, Shelly etc by the Toronto Student Players, various Church companies and the Royal

My Experience At The YMCA
During my experience at the YMCA, there were things that I did not know but learned. For
instance, I previously worked at the YMCA in their Safe Sound program but I did not the history
behind the organization and what the acronym meant. I was not really surprised by the YMCA s
services since I worked there but I was surprised where the organization was first established and
how much it has grown over the years. It is really unbelievable how much YMCA brings people
together regardless of their background and age. However, I believe the best part of visiting the
YMCA is the insight that Becky gave us, on the disability services that they provide along with her
personal experience working with them. Based on what Becky said, it seems like

dream gradually shifts away from the consciousness of the animals, until there is no differentiation
between the pigs and the humans ending where they started, Manors Farm. Character Quotes The

to the benefit of all the animals. Squealer speaks, Do you know what would happen if we pigs

coming back again, and tells them, Napoleon is always right. He sees Snowball as a threat to his
power, he spreads his words Comrades, do you know who is responsible for this? Do you know
the enemy who has come in the night and overthrown our windmill? SNOWBALL! He tries to
make false information and lies to the common animals. The external conflict between Napoleon
and Snowball over power are shown, due to Napoleon s greeds. Although the common animals of
the farm found Snowball more likeable, the nine loyal dogs of Napoleon frightened the animals
and strengthened the power of Napoleon allowing him to become the leader after Rebellion.
Napoleon is unsatisfied of any ideas rooted from Snowball, brings out his specially trained dogs
to go after Snowball. Snowball who does not have a physical force of his own like Napoleon s, is
chased out of the farm allowing Napoleon to become the one and only leader of Animal Farm . I
feel empathetic to Napoleon some of the time, but to this extent I wouldn t agree or connect with
Napoleon. He uses and exploits other animals for his benefit, and untruly spreads propaganda to

in 1966 by the founder Richard M. Schulze. During its first year of opening Best Buyhad earned a

tried to sell his company to Sears but failed because he demanded certain perks. Best Buy s
growth was spectacular, from the years 1989 to 1992 corporate sales rose up to 23 percent, while
the industry as a whole had only expanded to nearly three percent. From the years 1992 to 1993
the sales rose again for the first time it went beyond $1 billion dollars, from $929 million to $1.6
billion, this was their biggest increase since they opened. Best Buy had generated the most
excitement in Wall Street with the biggest sales and increase in the amount they receive each year
growing bigger and better each time. For the first half of 1991 Best Buy was the most popular out
of all the other New York Stock Exchange stocks in percentage. In 1993 the stock nearly doubles
within a three month period but then dropped by ten percent in a single day in mid November.

The one year chart about Best shows that Best Buy had an increase in profits at the beginning of
2015 and during the month March, Best Buy had earned the highest this year. It also shows that after
they got to their highest point this year, their sales started to go down and that their sales continues
to go down steadily until August when the sales had reached new heights. However,
Difference Between The Lottery And Fortunato
The Act of an Antagonist What makes an antagonist and antagonist? In the story, The Cask of
Amontillado, Fortunato plays the role of the antagonist, the man contending Montresor. In the short
story, The Lottery, the lottery itself opposes the protagonist, Tessie. These two forces that dispute
against the protagonists have different and similar qualities, and the stronger of the two antagonists
is The Lottery.
The two antagonist of their respective stories have many differences between their appearances. The
main difference between Fortunato and The Lottery are their characteristic appearances.
Fortunato appears to be a foolish; unintelligent drunk, and leads himself into danger: Once more
let me implore you to return. No? Then I must positively leave you (Poe 622). In this quote
Montresor builds the wall around the groggy Fortunato. This ultimately lead to Fortunato s
downfall. The Lottery could be described as a polar opposite, because The Lottery can be
described as crafty and inevitable: Used to be saying about Lottery in June, corn be heavy soon...
There s always been a lottery, he added petulantly (Jackson 266). Old Man warner is describing a
lottery that can be characterized as inevitable and crafty. These words describe The Lottery because
it can not be avoided and convinces people to slaughter each other for a better crop. Given these
points, the major difference between Fortunato and The Lottery can be described in their
characteristics.
The two antagonist s, Fortunato and The Lottery have similarities in their involvement in death and
the effect they had on the protagonist. In both short stories, The Cask of Amontillado, and The
Lottery, the two antagonists push the opposing characters to extreme behaviors. In The Lottery, the
townspeople are convinced they must sacrifice their family members and friends for a healthy crop
season. The lottery has control over the townspeople, and pushes them to extreme measures. In The
Cask of Amontillado, Montresor talks about his hatred of Fortunato: The thousand injuries of
Fortunato I had borne as best as I could; but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge (Poe
617). Montresor stresses that Fortunato has pushed him over the limit.
My Reading And Writing History
My Reading and Writing History pt.1
Just like with many aspects of myself many things helped in the contribution of my reading and
writing skills. It was a bit difficult in the beginning learning to read and write in English since I
learned to read and write in Spanish first. Both languages being pretty similar kind of screwed me
up as a child so it took me longer to learn to read and write in English. Which in turn is why I was
put in the ELD for many years. I did eventually test out of it before starting middle school, but that s
when my dislike for reading and writing started. Being in those programs they made us read and
write even more than the normal students would. I would think now that all that work should have
made me better at reading and writing but in turn it made me resent those very things and not any
better at them. Another thing that made it worse was my family status, things in my home were
complicated to say the least, but the way I was affected academically was because neither of my
parents really cared for my education, so I was never made to read or write at home. Those two
main things are where my dislike for both things originated. Since I never thought they were
important other than to just get a grade in a class. All these things helped contribute to the type of
reader and writer that I am today.
The main people that have shaped me as a reader and writer today were teachers since I got no help
at home. From what I have noticed however from k 12th

Process‐driven change seeks to create a context and environment in which employees at all levels
of Process vs. Content 3 the organization engage in a collaborative way to achieve the strategic
goals of the organization. Approaches geared and focused on collaborative, participative, and
problem‐solving efforts work to align behaviors with strategic requirements (Spector, 2013). In
process driven change, content is used to support rather than initiate ( Spector, 2013). Examples of
successfully used change programs are Six Sigma, business process re engineering, the balanced
scorecard, lean enterprise, and Agile ( Spector, 2013). These processes may be utilized to reinforce
as opposed to drive new behaviors and leadership roles are directed on solidifying purpose and
strategic directions for the organization. As a result of unfreezing and creating new focus new
patterns of behavior may emerge ( Spector, 2013). Process‐driven change seeks to create an
organizational context in which employees will be motivated to adopt new behaviors consistent with
the strategic direction of the organization. Content Driven Change Intervention By definition,

Professional Soccer Player As A Professional Athlete Player
Is there such thing as the dream job? For many, being a professional athlete is like the perfect job.
For me, that is too vague. I have done my research, and it is clear to me now what a great job being
a professional soccer player is. Soccer players participate in the world s most popular sport, which is
soccer (Facts on File). Although, their job isn t always just to playthe sport. They must also deal
with the media and everything the club they are in asks of them. Being a soccer playercan be tough,
but it comes with many perks and benefits. In addition, little education is required, but lots of skill
and characteristics are needed. Professional soccer playersmight live the dream lives of many. They
play a very fun sport and get paid to do so. Although, it may come with a lot of stress if they do
not manage it correctly. A lot is expected from these players week in and week out. Not only do
they have to work on the pitch, but also with sponsors and the press. In addition, this career is not
a lifelong career, so it is crucial to be prepared for when you retire. One of the greatest parts of being
a soccer player is the high salary you will receive (Facts on File). Since being a professional
athlete does not require much study, a high school diploma is good enough to become a soccer
player (Facts on File). Yet, training for the sport is still needed, and can be expensive before
becoming a pro. Soccer players normally show interest in the sport since their youth.
Women s Right Movement 1970 s
Women s Right Movement 1970 S The Women s Right Movement has been a long enduring
battle, which started in 1848 and is still something we are fighting for. Woman Rights in the 1970
s wasn t the first wave of feminism which focused on suffrage;this wave was mostly focused on
equal opportunity. This movement helped gain the ERA amendment which allowed women equal
payment in working fields. This was extremely important because although women were already
working and have always worked they weren t given enough credit. This Movement began in the
early 1970 s ,but feminism was a problem even after they gained the suffrage right .This movement
was mostly focused on giving women equal pay as men. During this time women would get paid
only 63 percent of what a man made. Feminists who were involved were mainly of middle class
members predominantly white. This became in issue that not only upset the poor ,but Women of
color as well because they felt the NOW was only looking out for white feminists and they felt they
wouldn t represent their problems well . This was a worldwide movement, Despite the fact that not
many women in other countries gained the same opportunities as we did . Feminists during this
period of time not only focused on the economic, but also the social and political part to be as equal
to men. http://www.scholastic.com/teachers/article/history womens rights movements Women were
