Perks Of Being A Wallflower Essay
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephan Chbosky
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a novel written in letters to an anonymous person from the
point of view of Charlie, a 15 year old starting his first year of high school. He begins his letters
writing about his friend Michael, who committed suicide, he describes how much he misses him
and how lonely he is when school starts. He then goes on to talk about his family: mum, father,
brother, and sister. His sister is one of the main charters in the book she is a senior in high school
dating. At one point in the book her boyfriend hits her and it ends up with her parents finding out.
They continue to date secretly until they eventually breakup, because she gets pregnant and he
dumps her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later that night Charlie meets the rest of the group of misfits: Mary Elizabeth, Alice, and Bob and
from then on Charlie has a sense of stability and community which enables him to be more
comfortable at school. Even though Charlie is a wallflower someone who sits back and watches the
lives around him he tries hard to participate and get more involved in the world around him.
Throughout Charlie s emotional journey his English teacher assists him, Bill, he pays special
attention to Charlie and assigns him extra papers and books for his personal enrichment.
My favourite part of the book is when Charlie is dared to kiss the prettiest girl in the room.
Everyone expected Charlie to kiss Mary Elizabeth, the girl he was dating, but when Charlie got up,
with Mary Elizabeth right next to him, he walked across the circle and kissed Sam. It then became
clear to the group that the relationship was more one sided, where Mary Elizabeth was doing all the
talking, and Charlie was just
Propaganda Techniques Of Today s Advertising By Ann...
In Propaganda Techniques in Today s Advertising by Ann McClintock, the author discusses how
Americans are being brainwashed by advertisements and the different techniques they use to catch
our attention. Ads are simply everywhere we look, it is impossible to get through the day without
seeing one. All advertisingcompanies put tons of research into how consumers spend money or even
vote. Once these companies finish their research, they create advertisements that appeal to the
masses. The basic propagandatechniques that McClintock writes about are Name Calling, Glittering
Generalities, Transfer, Testimonial, Plain Folks, Card Stacking, and Bandwagon. Each one of these
propaganda techniques is used in specific ways by advertisers to sell their product or service to
consumers. I have selected a political ad which uses the Glittering Generalities technique, a coffeead
that uses Transfer technique, a soda ad that uses the Testimonial technique, and a soup ad that uses
the Name Calling technique.
First, the political ad I choose used the Glittering Generalities technique in which the Donald
Trump used a certain slogan in hopes to sway voters. In this ad Mr. Trump is telling potential
voters that a vote for him is a vote to take back our country. The phrase used is vague and may not
mean the same to you as it does to me. McClintock states, The ads for politicians and political causes
often use glittering generalities because such buzzwords can influence votes (698).

Low Carb diets are Reckless and Dangerous?
The Medical and sports nutrition establishment are horrified by the concept of low carbohydrate
and ketogenic diets. While studies are being released almost daily proving the superiority of low
carb diets for fat loss, the medical establishment warns against trying them as the long term health
risks are unknown . Apparently it is a case of better the devil you know than the devil you don t .

Dangerous because we don t know IF they re safe

This fence sitting attitude is an absolutely inexcusable disgrace! The devil we know a devil only
revealed as a result of the high carb recommendations is epidemic levels of obesity, diabetes, cancer,
heart disease and depression. Is there any possibility of the unknown risk being worse than the
sickness that the health department recommendations have caused? I think not!

There Might be Side Effects

It is the most patronising hypocrisy that the Medical community warn against using a treatment (low
carb dieting) PROVEN to cure a disease state
The And Law Enforcement Officers
Over the past couple years there has been an ever increasing amount of reports against police using
excessive force when the situation does not call for it. Every time a case like this happens hundreds
if not thousands of dollars are wasted to correct the situation. This is due to the conflicting
statements between eyewitnesses and law enforcement officers. Forensic investigations are needed
to understand what most likely occurred. When we are little we were told to always trust police
officers because they are there to look out for us, but not every police officerhas that same idea. The
officers are people and people are flawed by nature but we hold them to a higher standard and that
their word is worth more than the average citizen in a court of law. This leads to officers being
considered correct until valid conflicting evidence is introduced where the officer is shown in the
wrong. Thankfully modern advances in technology, specifically smart phones, are causing new
evidence to be provided to be in video format more often. Body cameras are one of the proposed
solutions to help solve this ongoing conflict due to their easy implementation but the cameras have
hidden costs that are not immediately thought of. Overall the cost of using cameras is outweighed
by the social benefits gained from implementing them. Michael Brown was an unarmed eighteen
year old African American male when he was shot and killed by a police officer in Ferguson,
Missouri. The incident caused an

but make sure you bring the essential, like a top rated rifle scope 2015 and basic first aid kit. Apart
from obvious stuff (ammo, water, food), here are things you absolutely can t miss on your hunting
trip.
Backpack
If you spend a lot of money on other items but pay for a cheap, large pack only, you really make a
huge mistake. What will you do with all the food, clothes, ammo and accessories when your pack
fails you in the middle of your hunt? Pay for a durable and high quality backpack that can hold all
of your stuff it is a wise decision you don t have to regret in the long term.

You can do a hell lot of things with this handy item. Choose a type of knife with replaceable blades
and lightweight enough.
Clothing
Like mentioned above, you never know when the weather becomes crazy. Bring an additional layer
of clothing is obviously essential to help you fight the cold or to change when you get wet.
Synthetic clothing is recommended because such item can dry very fast; however you should bring
an extra jacket or a sweater just in case. High quality clothing is important but you don t necessarily
have to pay a huge sum for fancy hunting clothing.
First aid kit
When you go hunting, all sorts of injuries can occur and there is no doctor or clinic to help you on
the spot. Your best chance to deal with cuts or scratches is having a first aid kit. Make sure you
customize the kit for your own need and replace all expired medicines with new ones before you
begin the trip. Bandages, duct tapes, digestive medication...are among the most
Luther s Father Stand Alone Summary
To provide an overview of what the Allotment Policy was, it was also known as the Dawes Act. As
mentioned within class discussions, it was named after Senator Henry Dawes. This policy
allowed Indian people to receive a portion of land. Indian tribal land would be divided into small
sections or allotments. These would be for Indian families or individuals. When it comes to how
many acres will be provided, it all depends on who it is. The amount of land granted to each
family is 160 acres. On the other hand, 80 acres will be given per individual. Orphans who are
under 18 years of age, can only receive half of the land an individual would get. In that case, they
receive 40 acres. Once the allotment was processed and completed, meaning people... Show more

Some tribes may include the Cherokee and Hopi. According to our class lectures, there was an
outrage due to the allotments. The Cherokee who are from Oklahoma, expressed their thoughts in
front of Congress. Due to the strategy used when it came to the Allotment Policy, the land was
difficult to farm on. In class we had discussed how the profits of all the corn produced would only
make a slight dent within debt. As a result of bad crops growing, the debt started to accumulate. It
was thought that the entire system was rigged. The allotments became a checkerboard. The meaning
behind the term checkerboard, is that Indian families or individuals were becoming surrounded by
White settlers who claimed open land. The goal of the checkerboard was to break up the Native
American communities. Not to forget, the Hopi had petitioned that they needed more land due to
infertility of the soil. Although they tried to voice their opinions, feedback or answers were never
given back. Eventually, they had given
Criminal Identification And The Criminal Justice System
Techniques of criminal identification have varied throughout the criminal justice system. As time
progressed, these techniques evolved accordingly. Due to modern day technology, and scientific
advancements, it has made identifying criminals much easier. Adding to the effectiveness and
accuracy, these techniques also carry much more weight and play a much more credible role in
court. Best of all, it has made it near impossible for a suspect to get away with a crime especially
when not caught in the act of committing. Although, methods of criminal identification have varied
throughout history, the most common and verifying procedure of pinpointing criminals still today is
through fingerprintanalysis. Because fingerprints are most commonly left at a crime scene and
because they are extremely unique in each of their individual characteristics, the overall techniques
of recovering them at a crime scene continue to have a compelling impact on determining criminals.
Without any means of personal identification, many individuals throughout history all over the world
took notice of analyzing fingerprints and their unique characteristics. Dating back centuries, old
civilizations would utilize fingerprints by placing them on clay tablets indicating a business
transaction had been made. An anatomy professor named John Evangelist Purkinje, at the University
of Breslau in the year 1823 published a thesis analyzing nine fingerprint patterns, although made no
mention or indication of the

For example, Helen relied on the sense of smell and physical touch. Helen had no knowledge or

to imitate her fingers as a way to communicate. First, Anne had to teacher Helen how to properly
behave before being able to teach her the proper way of communicating and understanding. For
example, Helen had the tendency to touch everyone s food on the table, but Miss Sullivan vividly
showed her how to properly use her spoon and to sit down at the table. Though, one part of the
movie that did not seem accurate is the time that was given for Miss Sullivan to teach Hellen how to
